These achievements are accumulative. So lets say you kill an enemy next to a checkpoint. Then die in the lava, respawn at that checkpoint, and kill the same enemy over again. Rinse and repeat

This game freezes repeatedly for me, especially when I pause it. When it freezes, all progress were wiped out. I needed to delete my save from everywhere and start a new game to get this and the deaths achievements. Just FYI

Yeah, similar experience to neeker75, when pausing the game by pressing the center button to check achievement progress, would cause the game to lock up and the character to be frozen in place. I would have to hard quit and restart the game. Did not lose progress or have to delete any saves though. Just a few freezes and annoying restarts.
