How to unlock the Memorial achievement in Escape Dead Island - Definitive Guide
These are really easy to find if you take your time. Be careful though, once you start this you will need to get them all otherwise you will need to start the game again. Any time you have to "mash" a door, there is no going back.
10 of the 11 are found in this main lab. The last one is found in another location.
In the campaign, you will need to have found the flashlight in order to enter the labs. You get the flashlight when you are going for the 3 lab keys. After you get the flashlight, back track to the area you were in just before the runway.
The lab entrance you want to enter is located near the big campaign lab entrance in the center of the map (Geopharm Complex). The entrance we want is to the left of the lab if you are facing the entrance. You will cross a path and go downhill a little.
1. (#1) Upon entering the labs, you go through a corridor and pass a small room. Next you will enter a room with a large set of stairs that lead down. Before going down, check the room to the right for the first tape machine.
If for some reason you missed this one, you can reenter this underground lab but ONLY this one. A door will soon close behind you.
2. (#2) After defeating a screamer, you will go down stairs. There will be a cutscene revealing a new enemy. The tape machine is in the corner.
3.(#3) There will be yet another one of these new enemies and then a set of stairs to the right, going up; not the forklift path. Watch out for the screamer. This should be in plain site as you go up the stairs.
Careful with the ammo with this. You can collect about 300 rounds total for it but will need 100 kills. Weaken enemies with the pistol or axe then finish them off with the assault rifle.
There is a point of no return coming up. Backtrack if you have to in order to make sure you have all 3 at this point.
4. (#7 )You will head down some stairs with a crazy water effect. You will pass some cloudy windows and can hear some bad sounds. Crawl through a vent and you will find yourself in a well lit room with a choice of a ladder on the left or another vent in front you. Go left and up the ladder. You will come to a room with a yellow handled valve. In the next room will be the tape machine.
5. (#5)Continue forward past a pool. You will end up in a room with a switch and a ladder going down; go down. There are two vents; the one on the right takes you back to where you were, the other straight to another tape machine.
6. (#4)You will eventually be in yet another room with a switch and ladder. Go Down the ladder. There are two vents again. Take the one on the left (crates instead of terminals). The next room has the tape.
7. (#6)Go back to the room with the two vents and this time take the vent with the terminals. Again, it is in the next room.
After this will be a point of no return door that you mash open. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE TAPES SO FAR. Think about it this way, 5 minutes to double check or 6 more hours to play through the campaign again.
8.(#8) After the bit with the submarine-ish thing, you will be in a hallway with a few small rooms. After ducking under some pipes, go to the room right in front of you with two zombies, in bed....together.....sort of.
9. (#9) You will come out of the hallways into a room with an upper and lower floor and a tree in the middle. On the lower floor, you will find the tape.
10. (10) After powering up a door and sneaking past two baddies, the next room is not hiding anything from you. This room has 2 trees. This is the end of the big part of the DLC.
You can backtrack to the beach to access another underground lab. There is not much inside. Be careful with this one. For some reason, there are no saves that happen after you visit this lab. Make sure you make it back to a save before you die. Otherwise, revisit.
Continuing your quest will lead you to the helipad. Head down the obvious underground lab entrance to find:
There is plenty of ammo for the 10 long distance kills for this. At some point after the campaign-lab you should get:
Your quest will take you back to the marina. You will need the gas mask. Once, there head left through the broken fence. Near the coast, you will find an underground lab entrance.
This should unlock as you walk along the bottom. If not, go back to the underground lab at the beach and fully explore that again. If you continue the campaign and enter the warehouse, you will not be able to return to the beach lab.
11. (#11) This is the last one and it is located in a bunker in the marina. You will go down a second ladder and it will be in the big room you enter.
There are only 11 logs you'll have to collect and they have a yellowish glow to them so they're easy to spot.
Underground lab near Geopharm Labs (10 logs):
- You'll get to some stairs that go down, but before going down check the room to the right for the first log. NOTE: This is the only log you can miss in this lab and still come back to get as this is prior to the door closing.
You will get to a door that you have to button mash to open. Be sure you have the first log before proceeding.
- When you get to the cutscene introducing the Dweller, there is a log straight ahead in the corner to the right.
- After you come to another Dweller you go upstairs and find another log. This is in the same area as the assault rifle.
You will get to another door that you have to button mash to open. Make sure you have the first three before proceeding.
- After going down the stairwell where the water falls through the ceiling, you'll go through a vent and find a ladder to the left. Go up the ladder and you'll get to a room with a yellow valve. In the next room you'll find the log.
- You'll get to a room with a switch and a ladder going down. Go down the ladder and go to the vent on the left side and find the log in that room.
- You'll get to a second area with a ladder and switch. Go down the ladder and through the vent between the crates. The next area will have the log.
- Go back through the vent you just came out of and go through the other vent in the room to find another log.
There will be yet another door that requires you to button mash to open. Once again, make sure you have the seven logs before proceeding.
- After the room that is surrounded by water with the lever, you'll proceed and duck under some pipes and straight ahead is the room with the next log.
- You'll come to a room with a tree in the middle. On the lower level you'll find the log.
- After getting the door open with a switch you'll find the last log in this area in the next room.
Underground Lab near the Marina
- The last log you need will be in the lab near the Marina. Very hard to miss.
