How to unlock the Soul Released achievement in Eternal Sonata - Definitive Guide

The following comes from Xbox360Achievements.org and is not my original work. I am just trying to distribute the knowledge around, not claiming this as my own work. I did verify that this is the proper solution.

To get this, after you fight Rondo for the first time and get the Heart Pendant, return to Fort Fermata and find the locked door. Open it and give the pendant to Chord. You must have talked to the man in the cave off the beach in Ritardando and the Former Servant in the east alley of Baroque City before doing this. Make sure you don't have it equipped or he won't talk to you.

You might want to mention that you can only obtain this on your Encore playthrough.

Thanks, Hashmap. I didn't realize it was Encore only.

Also, speaking to the man in the cave BEFORE getting the pendant does nothing, wait till you have it then talk to him, then the lady in Baroque.

@Leo Ascendent I actually spoke to the man in the cave before acquiring the Heart Pendant and I was still able to unlock this achievement later after talking to the Former Servant in Baroque. To be safe, after I got the Heart Pendant from Rondo, I went back to the cave to speak to him again after reading your comment but he wasn't there (the Former Servant dialogue didn't change either)!

One thing to note is the locked room in Fort Fermata. Once I unlocked it and went inside I only saw an inactive warp panel and what looked like a Maledictador enemy character model sitting in the left corner (enemies you fight at Chorus Plains in Chapter 2). I kept interacting with him but apparently I was actually interacting with the empty bowl. Aside from some "dry bowl text" nothing was happening and the warp wasn't working so I felt I was stuck. Thinking that I missed something, I ended up backtracking and attempting to talk to the cave man and Former Servant again in Baroque for NO reason. Apparently Chord IS the Maledictador. For some reason I was expecting a generic man NPC to be waiting inside the room.

Thats a big problem for me in this game how characters seemingly blend into the environments making it hard to distinguish anything. Anyways, yeah you should be able to talk to the cave man and servant any time before or after getting the pendant so long as you do so before attempting to unlock the room in Fort Fermata. Once you open it and talk to the cloaked person (Maledictator) sitting on the left and go through the necessary motions then this will unlock.

This is only available on your second play through. Once you fight Rondo for the first time at the end of Chapter 5 you will get the "Heart Pendant" and soon you will gain access to the teleporter in Baroque City. Return to Ritardando from the teleporter and talk to the man in the cave off the beach. Head back to Baroque and talk to the Former Servant in the east alley of the town (across from the entrance to the snowy peak). Once you've talked to both of them, head back to Fort Fermata and use the key you got earlier in the game to open the locked door on the west side of the first section. Give the man inside the Heart Pendant, but make sure it is not equipped on anyone or he will not talk to you.
