How to unlock the Ludicrous Speed! achievement in EVERSPACE 2 - Definitive Guide
Some crazy dudes out there might be able to this in other ship and with type I and II ships but I highly recommend waiting until you can afford an extra tier III or III+ ship for this, specficily the Vanguard III or Vanguard III+.
This ship will make it infinitely easier. I did most races on the first or second run with this ship. There was only one that took me about 20 tries, because its SUPER short and you could not make single a mistake, otherwise, the rest of the races were pretty easy in the Vanguard, whereas I could not even land bronze in a Teir IV Sentinal despite that being a fairly fast and nimble ship.
If you are still REALLY struggling you can always go for the Vanguard IV but that is super costly and is only going to give you like 8% extra speed and handling for nearly 3x the cost.
Racing tracks:
Ceto
Ghost Fleet
Alcyone Station
Charybdis Bowl
Union
Ayres Relay Station
Prescott Starbase
Zharkov Border Control
Drake
Letho Starport
Alpha Draco Claim I
Zharkov
Gas Field
Khait Nebula
Okrot Trading Station

I managed to get this achievement today and I'd like to add my insights to this solution:
1. I had finger cramps after a while so I switched to the alternate control set in the settings. This makes acceleration, boost and steering easier on the hands but needs some getting used to.
2. Set the game to easy. I found the alternate controls much better for the races but bad for fighting. Setting the game to easy will make sure that you can easily handle or ignore enemies.
3. Reach level 30. This will give you the easiest access to a good booster. I had an eco booster with 346% speed gain.
I also had an optimised cargo unit with +14% speed. Better equipment may be possible, I did not specifically farm those.
4. Get the Vanguard IV. Exchanging ships comes with no cash penalty. You can buy it only for the races and switch back afterwards.
5. If a race is to hard, go to another one. Get practice and collecting the easier platinums will makes this a better experience.
6. You can restart a race by holding Y. During the race or briefly after finishing it, to quickly return to the start.
7. You do not need to boost all the time. In most races, especially the longer ones, I did not boost while going through a hoop, oriented the ship to the next hoop and then boosted for a short time. Exceptions are longer straight stretches and the very short races.
With this, 7 out of 10 races were very easy, even for a mediocre flyer like me.
The remaining 3 were short ones that I managed within one hour.

Best I've done on any track so far is gold and that was several seconds or more from plat. And thats in a Vanguard IV lol. I might not be good enough for this without a keyboard & mouse. Most of my tries are silver or bronze on almost every track.
Maybe I'm missing a key element of the setup but I have a vanguard IV, a cargo item that gives 14% increase to my speed, and a power core or whatever its called that lets me boost for like 22 seconds before it runs out.
But I constantly have to let off my boost to avoid missing a ring so I dunno that I'll be able to get this one done, lol.
