How to unlock the Getting Sidetracked achievement in EVERSPACE - Definitive Guide
"Destroy 10 Okkar units in a single run."
+$750
Tips: Shoot the bad guys.
"Earn 5000 credits or more in a single run."
+$850
Tips: Regular containers, ships, shipwrecks, and freighter wrecks can all drop credits.
"Destroy 10 Outlaw units in a single run."
+$750
Tips: Shoot the bad guys. Again.
"Shoot down 30 floodlights in a single run."
+$1,000
Tips: Super simple, but you might be unsure as to what it is refering to by floodlights. Shoot lights like the one below. They can be found on various structures and large wreckages. If you shoot floodlights on a G&B structure, it will not anger them.
"Destroy a drone by ramming it."
+$1,200
Tips: Simple. Just do it. It will hurt.
"Destroy 50 fuel tanks in a single run."
+$1,000
Tips: Just like it says, destroy fuel tanks. You can find them on various structures. They look like the tanks in the screenshot below. They do not need to have fuel in them (indicated by the
glowing tanks) and if you destroy tanks on a G&B structure you WILL anger them.
"Destroy 20 missiles in a single run."
+$1,200
Tips: Any missile will do, but the easiest way I found to do it was to find a missile turret, kill all the enemies around it, and simply destroy missiles as it fired them. The basic beam weapon was the easiest for me to destroy them since the weapon has no travel time.
"Destroy an Okkar unit that is webbed."
+$1,300
Tips: A "webbed" unit refers to a webber drone ensnaring a ship. Easiest way to do this challenge is to build or find the consumable "Webber Drone" and use it when you are fighting a Okkar ship. As long as you destroy the Okkar ship while it is affected by the drone, you should get credit.
In addition to the webber drones, a Stasis Missile will do the trick as well. The Scout ship loadout A starts with some! Thank you 蛍Firefly!
"Lure an enemy into a black hole."
+$1,400
Tips: This one was tricky for me. You'll need to get the attention of any enemy and have them follow you while you fly through the influence of a black hole (the game will alert you with "Singularity Warning!"). It was hard to determine whether or not the ship was following close enough to get sucked in, and since you can't really turn around to check without getting yourself sucked in.. it was fairly difficult for me.
You'll need to make sure your speed and boost are upgraded in order to keep out of the black hole.
"Destroy 20 flying enemies before entering Sector 2."
+$1,400
Tips: Destroying anything EXCEPT turrets counts. I would make sure you destroy all enemies you see on the way to Sector 2 to ensure you complete it.
If you dont have enough enemies for some reason, wait until the alert comes up for "Okkar forces inbound!" and you could get a few more kills.
Be careful, as there can be a lot and if you take too long the Colonial Warship will warp in and most likely destroy you.
"Craft 5 modifications in a single run."
+$1,500
Tips: Any modification for a primary weapon or device will do. Some devices such as Adaptive Hull and Energy Core Extenstion do not have mods. Every mod requires crystals, among other things, ranging from 4 to 26 and they can be fairly scarce
"Destroy all of a freighter's containers before it explodes."
+$1,500
Tips: You will be forced to anger the G&B for this one. Find any G&B transport (credits, fuel, equipment, resource, ect) and attack the containers on the side/top of the ship. If it escapes or you blow up the ship before you break all the containers, you do not get credit for the challenge.
"Reach Sector 2 without taking hull damage."
+$1,700
Tips: This one wasn't too hard. The enemies are not very difficult in Sector 1 and as long as you don't run into anything, you should not have too much trouble. Don't use the Gunship as it cannot have shields and will take hull damage practically guarenteed.
It is possible that the glyph "Headstart" which starts you in Sector 2 instantly gives you the challenge, but I did not do that.
"Make G&B forces attack the Okkar."
+$1,500
Tips: This was very vague to me and took me a little while to realize what to do. All you need to do for this is draw the attention of an Okkar ship, fly behind a G&B transport, and draw the Okkar ship's fire so that it hits the transport. It will take a few shots, so give it some time. You should get credit for the challenge as soon as the G&B turn to fight the Okkar ship(s).
"Destroy an elite G&B fighter."
+$2,000
Tips: Well, this is going to make them fairly upset. Kill any G&B elite fighter as marked by the skull icon. Be careful, as they are pretty strong and fire missiles.
"Survive a Warship attack."
+$2,200
Tips: The warship it is referring to is the Colonial Warship that warps into your system when you stay too long in one system for too long. It appears shortly after the initial enemies warp in from the "Okkar forces inbound!" alert.
All you have to do is wait for the Warship to warp in and then you warp out.
Most likely you will want to do this in Sector 1 as the enemies that warp in before the Warship are probably weaker. you could also Defeat Admiral Gorc since he counts a flying in one as well
"make 10 deals with the Trader in a single run."
+$2,200
Tips: This one is pretty simple, just gather plenty of materials and credits along your way to make sure you have everything you need to make a deal.
In order to make this easy, you would need the Pilot perks "Sector Scanner" level 3 and "Trading" level 5 in order to find the traders easily and have plenty of trade offers available to you.
Service station trades DO NOT count.
"Destroy an Outlaw Sniper."
+$2,300
Tips: In order to complete this one, I believe you will need to make it to at least Sector 4 as I think that is the earliest I have seen an Outlaw Sniper.
In order to find it, you'll need to be on the lookout for its long range single beam that it fires at you. It will not show up on sensors however if you move close enough to the source of the beam, you should be able to see the cloaked outline of the ship. Simply fire at the cloaked ship some and it should die quickly as it has very low health.
"Reach Sector 4 without destroying any ships or drones."
+$2,500
Tips: Don't shoot the bad guys.
Its really straight forward, but the challenge is very annoying. I'm fairly sure destroying turrets will NOT fail the challenge as I destroyed a Colonial Turret without thinking and it did not fail. I didn't press my luck though.
Destroying any of the Ancients "vessels" does count as a ship, so watch out for that! Thanks 蛍Firefly :)
The "Headstart" glyph can make this a bit easier since you start in Sector 2.
"Destroy an Okkar Corvette."
+$3,000
Tips: You might have to jump a few times in order to find one, but it's not too hard. A handful of Corrosive Missiles or a couple of Arc-9000s are the quickest way to take one out.
"Leave the first location without any equipment installed. Then reach Sector 3."
+$3,000
Tips: And the grand finale challenge. You can scout out the first location you start in, destroy enemies, and gather materials, but as soon as you're ready to leave you will need to salvage all your equipement you have on you (weapons, devices, consumables) and then warp out. I did not try to pick up equipment on the way to Sector 3, so I don't know if picking up something new will fail the challenge.
You can pick up or craft new equipment after you leave the first location! Thank you Unbelievable :D
Using the "Headstart" glyph will make this easier as you start in Sector 2.
credit goes to kingfish's guide on steam
There are 21 challenges to complete and you may begin working on them right from the outset but only 3 challenges will be open for completion upon starting each run. After completing a challenge, you will need to begin a new run to open new challenges before they can be worked towards. They may therefore appear in a different order from below as you complete some before others.
When a challenge is completed, the list of 3 current challenges will appear in the HUD with completed challenges highlighted in green and you will be rewarded with credits. Failed challenges will appear in red and can only be completed on a new run. Completing challenges usually become more difficult with progression so it is best to begin working on each as soon as it becomes available with the exception of a few (such as fuel tanks, floodlights, fighters and freighters) that may antagonise G&B (neutral to allied) units.
-
Destroy 10 Okkar units in a single run: Destroy 10 ships, drones, turrets or missile silos which belong to the Okkar faction. These can be found in all systems and will spawn in large numbers to destroy you, should you linger in one system for too long.
-
Earn 5,000 credits or more in a single run: Straightforward, you will earn this while picking up credits dropped by enemies, in containers and earned through trading. Cumulative, not required to hold all at once so you can spend it but must be earned in one run.
-
Destroy 10 Outlaw units in a single run: Same as the first challenge listed, just with the Outlaw faction.
-
Shoot down 30 floodlights in a single run: It can be difficult to locate these floodlights but look for larger structures such as refineries, service stations, faction bases and wrecks. Floodlights are light sources on these structures which cast light onto other surfaces. If unsure, your best bet is to view your running total for this challenge in the pause menu (under challenges), destroy the floodlight and then check if your total has increased. BE AWARE THAT ALL NEARBY G&B UNITS WILL BECOME HOSTILE IF YOU DAMAGE THE ACTUAL STRUCTURE OR UNITS. With precision and accuracy, you can take out their floodlights without antagonising them.
-
Destroy a drone by ramming it: Either fly into a drone with your boost on or weaken it first with a few shots and then ram it. Drones can be found supporting many fighters, drone carriers, corvettes and around some bases. Webber drones will make this more difficult as they slow you down.
-
Destroy 50 fuel tanks in a single run: Fuel tanks are large in size, found around bases, refineries, service stations and wrecks and glow orange when holding some fuel. Empty tanks (not glowing) are empty and those filled with gas instead do not count towards this trophy. Some fuel tanks belong to the Outlaw faction and these are great for counting towards this challenge's total. However, G&B tanks are far more common with the downside that this neutral and quite helpful group will become hostile towards you when you breach the tanks. Service Station tanks also belong to G&B with the same consequences. Each time you enter a new sector, this hostility will revert to neutrality so you can destroy any G&B tanks in the jumpgate (last) system of sectors, harvest the fuel and jump into the next sector where G&B will again be neutral.
-
Destroy 20 missiles in a single run: Find a missile turret (not a silo as they are more difficult to successfully farm) near an Outlaw or Okkar base. Have a rapid firing weapon such as the fusion blaster or Gatling, line yourself up with its firing line and destroy only the missile racing towards you rather than the turret itself. Repeat until you have 20 missiles destroyed in a run. Deploying an anti-missile drone or using your ship's missile defence system can also help you complete this challenge.
-
Destroy an Okkar unit that is webbed: Best left until you have a Webber drone or stasis missile of your own and then use those to "freeze" the enemy, switch weapons and destroy it while the effect is active. I expect that you could also chance upon an Outlaw Webber drone attacking an Okkar unit and you could destroy the latter while "frozen" but this will probably be a rare occurrence.
-
Lure an enemy into a black hole: Enemies do avoid black holes fairly well. It was not enough to fly to the opposite side of a blackhole and then try to gain their attention in the hope that they would fly straight towards me unwittingly to their doom. Improve your boosters and top speed perks as best you can and then, with pursuing fighters, approach the black hole as close as you dare. Use a stasis missile on the enemy and then leave the pull of the black hole, watching the enemy hopefully get dragged in. A second stasis missile may be needed to reapply the effect until they enter the black hole. Webber drones may also work but the effect can be of shorter duration.
-
Destroy 20 flying enemies before entering Sector 2: Take your time in each system of Sector 1, destroying all flying enemies before you move to the next. If you reach the last system, have no remaining enemies and your running total is a few off, wait for the pursuing Okkar to warp in and then destroy enough to complete the challenge.
-
Craft 5 modifications in a single run: Only primary weapons and some devices may be modified. There are many mods such as cooldowns, duration and damage which may be applied to this equipment. Ensure that you collect all available resources as mods are resource hungry. Levelling up the Crafting Costs perk decreases the amount of resources needed for crafting which will be of assistance in this challenge.
-
Destroy all of a freighter's containers before it explodes: Find a freighter carrying credits, resources or fuel. They are owned by G&B and can be found in most systems. Targetting only the containers, destroy each of them before the ship escapes or is destroyed. You can disable the jump drives on the side of the freighter to prevent escape but this will add damage to the ship and lead to ship destruction sooner. BE AWARE THAT ALL NEARBY G&B UNITS WILL BECOME HOSTILE AS SOON AS YOU DAMAGE THEIR UNITS.
-
Reach Sector 2 without taking hull damage: Find and equip the Headstart glyph to instantly complete this challenge as you begin the run at Sector 2. Alternatively, use a spacecraft with a good shield (the Gunship has none and makes this challenge difficult), pick your battles and avoid confrontation until Sector 2.
-
Make G&B forces attack the Okkar: This is a great tactic to employ during every run. When Outlaw and Okkar forces attack you in the vicinity of G&B units or property (service station, refinery, freighter) take shelter behind it, wait for the attack and watch as G&B become instant allies. This also works well with G&B fuel tanks when fuel is scarce and you don’t want to antagonise G&B- let your enemies unwittingly destroy fuel tanks and take the heat as you innocently collect the liberated fuel.
-
Destroy an Elite G&B fighter: Elite units for Okkar, Outlaw and G&B factions are marked with a skull symbol to designate their increased difficulty in combat. Find an elite for the G&B faction and destroy them, preferably after gaining their help in destroying any Okkar and Outlaws first. These factions will also weaken the elite G&B before you finish it off. BE AWARE THAT ALL NEARBY G&B UNITS WILL BECOME HOSTILE AS SOON AS YOU DAMAGE THEIR UNITS.
-
Survive a Warship attack: These huge ships warp into a system when you spend too long in between jumps. They are often accompanied by other units and have numerous weapons around their hull. The weapons can be destroyed but the ship itself cannot. For this challenge, just wait for one to warp in, destroy or avoid any prior enemies and then jump to the next system before you are destroyed.
-
Make 10 deals with a trader in a single run: You can buy, sell and trade with these ships found in many systems. Each transaction counts as a deal and traders may have between 3 and 6 offers to make you when you visit. Ensure you have plenty of resources to spare or room onboard your spacecraft for the item to be received.
-
Destroy an Outlaw Sniper: These annoying enemies are cloaked and are only visible when extremely close. Their red shots can be traced visually back their source and, by getting close to and firing at the origin point, you may hit them and reveal their position. Follow up quickly to destroy them before they re-cloak and relocate.
- Reach Sector 4 without destroying any ships or drones: Avoid confrontation of any kind, coerce G&B to fight your battles, steal resources and get out quick. Equip the Headstart glyph to skip Sector 1 and then you just have to play nice (or sneaky) through Sectors 2 and 3.
-
Destroy an Okkar Corvette: These large ships are bristling with weapons, attack at range and up close and are usually accompanied by drones and other units. Their shields are strong and regenerate quickly but corrosive missiles bypass shields and damage the hull over time and are very effective against them. Simply craft 6 of these missiles, lock onto and approach the Corvette in a spiral motion (to avoid most enemy fire) then unleash and duck back to cover or reverse spiral until it explodes.
- Leave the first location without any equipment installed, then reach Sector 3: Begin your run with the loadout of your choice and use it to clear the first system. Before making the first jump, remove and salvage all of your weapons and equipment. After that jump, build up your arsenal again and survive to Sector 3. The Headstart glyph will make this faster as you begin in Sector 2 and only have a few systems to do after stocking up resources then salvaging all of your gear in the first system.
