So if you don't get this first try don't worry. Once you leave the mines and come back there's a button you can press on the floor to make the boss battle happen again. Basic strategy is to dodge the fireballs and make him ram into the wall so he's dazed to inflict damage. If you take 2 hits then hit the back button to exit to menu and hit continue. The game sets up a save as soon as you enter the dungeon's exit. Another way instead of dodging is to hit the start button as something is about to hit you. This makes you invincible while it's up and after everyone finishes their animations they just stop. So quick enough you can take a fireball but no damage.

Also, the way I got this on PC years ago was that I DID get hit up I absorbed some health from his bats and because I was at full hearts at the end and I still got the achievement. Didn't get to test this on the X1 version as I got it on my 4th try. the other 3 had 2 hits at least and a heart only fills up a quarter of the space.
