How to unlock the The Hunter achievement in Evolve - Definitive Guide
To reach elite status for a hunter you need to get three stars filled for all of their character mastery. Please note that you must complete all three stage one stars before moving on to stage two stars and likewise for stage three stars.
You can check your progression and the requirements for progression either by viewing the character mastery progress update at the end of the game or via the leader-boards. When you are waiting in a lobby (please note some lobbies don't allow access), look at the top to see the prompt to press left trigger. This will take you to the Profile(Leader-boards)/Accolades/Badges screen where you can flick between the three with the shoulder buttons. On the first page you will see all of the leader-boards, go into the one relevant to the character whose mastery you want to check and keep pressing right to cycle between the leader-board, character mastery and awards pages for the different hunters within that type.
Whilst some are probably slightly easier than others to get, your best bet is to just stick with your favourite character. It is quite a grind especially at stage three but stage 3 will see you with a total 10% bonus to damage/range etc.
If anyone would like to contribute tips for any specific hunter, please feel free to comment and I will update the OP with good advice. Happy hunting!
Thanks to Slam Shot Sam for his tip that by using the Evolve Hunters Quest game on smart phones, you can contribute towards leveling your characters up faster on your console game.
To do this, from the main menu on the phone game, select 'Connect to Evolve', next you will see the option for 'Mastery.' Once you select that you will see all 12 hunters, pick the one you want to gain progress towards and then spend your 'M' that you earned in games to gain experience towards specific character mastery.
The following are community tips for leveling up/shared experiences for different characters;
Stage 3 Markov by namr3h
For Chained Lightning - Striders and other grouped wildlife as well as when the minions are near each other on a Defend match.
Assault Rifle - Straight forward just headshot damage the Monster in your favorite game mode.
2 Arc Mines on Monster without taking damage - To get two in a row I like to choose Defend. Set a couple up near spots the monster tends to approach towards the generators. In King's Fort Defend, there's a structure near the fueling station during the final phase that the monster almost always approaches on or retreats to every match (facing away from the fueling station it would be on your right side up against the far wall). So before the monster gets here I tend to set up a few arc mines on top of that for guaranteed double arc mines damage on almost every match. Also of course don't forget to use your personal shield!

Worth mentioning that you can play the Hunter's Quest app and lower the requirements for levelling up.
