Halfway through the level there will be large spiky mountains, you have to use the dips to drop from the sky and propel yourself down and then up and out gliding as high as you can. May take a couple tries but it will happen

Seems like the necessary height is around 1900 (y-axis), give or take.
I got this by boosting off the orange launcher near the end of the jagged mountains.
