How to unlock the Dead Blind achievement in F.E.A.R. 3 - Definitive Guide

*** Overview ***

For this achievement...

* You don't need a party of friends/players
* You don't need an extra controller.
* You don't need to reach waves 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, etc

* You can do this solo in "Solo Practice" mode
* You can do this with a party of friends/players
* You will need simply 5 minutes (or a little bit more)
* You will need to reach only the first wave

*** The Strategy ***

From the F.E.A.R. 3 main menu simply do the following...

1) Select "Multiplayer"
2a) Select "Solo Practice" if you're playing alone
2b) Select "Host/Join Network Match" if you're playing over Xbox live
2c) Select "Split Screen Match" if you're playing with a friend with another controller
3) Change "Scenario:" to "Mechanized Invasion"
4) Change "Difficulty:" to "Recruit"
5) Select "Launch"

When the game begins, immediately turn left counter-clockwise 90 degrees and you will be looking at a big hole in the ground. Drop down this hole to the first floor and walk out the entrance right in front of you.

You will now be directly in front of a fence. Follow the fence to the right and at about the 2nd or 3rd segment over there will be a hole in the fence. (Note: If you reached the bridge you have gone to far). Walk through the hole in the fence and fall down into the sewer ditch (or whatever you want to call it).

Stay in this area until wave 1 officially starts. When the wave starts, confirm you are in deep fog by looking around, you should have very little visibility. Simply fend off wave 1 (a bunch of soldiers) without leaving the ditch and once you complete wave 1 you should now have the achievement unlocked.

Note: After getting the achievement, I have restarted the game 5 times in a row up to wave 1 just to ensure I wasn't extremely lucky with the deep fog. It seems to always occur if the strategy is followed.

*** Advice ***

* I cannot confirm that if you leave this sewer ditch during wave 1 if it'll void the achievement as I simply figured the further down into the ground I was that the more fog I would get so if you want to be safe than stay in the sewer ditch to fend off the wave to be completely in deep fog.

* It took me a few tries to beat the wave as I got killed the first time but I generally stayed under the bridge and as soldiers came left/right I would either (1) shoot them with the pistol if they were to far away (2) run up and slide kick them for an instant kill then run back under the bridge.

* If things get a little crazy and your health is getting low you can run to the other side of the sewer ditch (opposite side from where you originally jumped down) and hide on the side of the wall to recover health (assuming there are no soldiers near there that are shooting you).

* If Alma appears (which she did for me, and she dazed me for the few seconds and I still got the achievement) just try to stay away even though it is very hard, if you get dazed just try to focus and aim/shoot at the general direction you are getting hit from until the daze wears off.

I found this method extremely difficult. Here's what I did. Instead of going to the ditch right away, grab the mech and use it to clear the first wave. While you are doing this, find a weapon crate. Once you've cleared the first wave, quickly grab the crate and bring it back to the waypoint. Now you can grab some actual weapons and grenades. Now follow the guide (head to the ditch and stay there). It's still no guarantee, but after failing 5 times in a row trying to survive with just a pistol, I succeeded on the first try with a shotgun, dual SMGs, and grenades.

You have time to run out, pick up crate and collect some weapon(s) before running down to ditch - before wave one begins. If crates are random you may need a bit luck to find one near by.

I grabbed the mech immediately and stood in the exact corner where it spawns (next to to the church and under the highway). The fog appeared on wave 2 after killing enemies as long as I remained in that corner.

Thanks to Or1g1nal S1nn3r. I grabbed the mech immediately and backed into the alcove dirrectly behind. The fog came down right at the start of round one and picking off the enemies was easy.

I did it on my first wave using this method. You're not going to have enough bullets in your handgun to kill everyone in the first wave unless you get a single shot headshot on everysingle enemy. What I did was kill the first few enemies until I had no bullets left. Then I spent the rest of the time running back and forth underneath the bridge between the two sections, and when the enemies dropped down I simply slide kicked them for one hit kill or knifed them 2x real quick for a kill. The key is once you're out of bullets, you have to run into the direction where enemy fire is coming from and slide kick once you get close enough. Using this method, your health will almost be completely recovered by the time you finish your slide kick as well if your character is at max level.

Simple achievement best done with four players. Simply start up Contractions on Recruit and have you and your team walk out of the safe building and into the deep fog outside the building safe zone. Deep Fog starts at wave 4 or 5. You will make short work of the waves together. You will unlock this achievement and the end of the wave if you managed not to be downed. The best maps for it are either "Commute" or "This Is Suicide"

Best done in tandem with "We'll Try Again Tomorrow" Achievement

I personally think the mechanized level is the easiest. You can do it solo if you get into the mech and watch out for alma.

I got this on wave 1, mechanized invasion, and on insane difficulty. Maybe deep fog is just random?

I did this by myself with two controllers. The method I personally used was this.

Make a Split Screen Contractions game on Mechanized Invasion on Recruit difficulty.

Run both controllers outside to the mech suit. Hide the dummy controller somewhere safe in the corner near the mech. Now just use the mech on your main controller and defend yourself and the dummy until heavy fog rolls in between rounds 5-8.

Heavy fog pretty much makes any enemy invisible from a few feet away and you can't see the sky either. The mech pretty much rapes everything on this map so you should have little problems if you watch out for Alma and may need to move your dummy account slightly if the little glowing red puddles on the ground start hurting it too much.

I tried it with practice and the achievement wouldn't pop for me. So I did it split screen and voila. Dunno if you can get achievements in practice, or if it was just being glitchy. Who knows.

I got it solo practice on Recruit without a 2nd controller. Of course, used a mech, and the fog came in the 7th wave, with all the jumping creatures. Very easy.

This trophy can be gotten in a solo or multiplayer (local or online) game of Contractions. The easiest scenario is "Mechanized Invasion." You will need to reach wave 7 until deep fog covers the ground; you'll know it's deep fog when you see red lights floating across the ground. In the preparation phase (before the fog), jump in the Powered Armor and spend the entire wave killing enemies. If you cannot get the Powered Armor or are in a different scenario, be sure to not stand in the red lights, they will hurt you and can force you into Last Stand.

Easily obtained at the Techno Assault level. The difficulty is minimal. After the start, we immediately go down into the sewer (from the start point we jump into the hole on the left, go out into the street, walk along the grate to the right until we see a hole in the grate, climb through there and jump into the sewer). In the sewer we are waiting for the wave to start, fog will appear. Now you just need to defend yourself in this fog for the entire wave. Easy)
