Easy way ... do it in splitscreen mode with second controller and no AI ... it works.
You can also combine this achievement with "Glancing Blow" and "Car Control". All three can be unlocked in splitscreen ... in one race.

This is a lot easier than it sounds if you're someone who's used to playing with automatic gears. You can have the rest of the assists on during the race (which makes this immensely easier). Just make sure you still have the gears set to Manual Sequential. The default controller settings have the gear shifts to the A button (gear up) and the X button (gear down). Make sure you have the rev limiter showing on your HUD and when you see all of the lights lit up (or close to it), hit the A button to go up a gear. If there aren't any lights, it might be a good idea to hit the X button and gear down.

If you know nothing about racing, it's important to note that you want to be in a lower gear when you're going slower (such as going into turns), and a higher gear when you're going faster (such as on a straightaway). For tight turns, you'll usually want to be in first or second gear. For more open turns, you can usually get away with third or fourth gear. On the straights, just gear up as you see the rev limiter rising. When you start going into a turn, make sure you gear down to an appropriate level.

Racing in a Long or Short Race Weekend makes this much easier because you can run the Qualifying round with automatic gear on, qualify for pole position (first place), and then switch to manual gears before the race begins.
