How to unlock the It's the Driver not the Car achievement in F1 2011 - Definitive Guide

This achievement unlocks at the end of the season.

If I remember rightly this is different to 'Driver's World Champion (50)' which can unlock mid season.

Worth mentioning if you're wondering why it hasn't popped after winning the title like I was!

doesn't work in co-op. I completed and won several championships and it did not unlock. Only got it to work in career mode.

this achievement is best done on easy career - I did my first play through on easy once you become the drivers world champion the game will tell you

I did my first play through with williams it is really important whilst in season one you renew your contract via your emails - failing to do this will result in you not being able to start a second season - as soon as ferrari offered me a contract is accepted it this was somewhere between race 10 - to - 13

on your first run through when the game tell you your world champ switch your settings to damage on full each race for the remainder of season one total your car hit start and retire (starting season two Switch damage back off)

starting season 2 exactly the same - every race I skipped qualification and just started the race I always come 1st starting from the back of the grid when you become driver world champion the achievement will not pop until you complete race 19 I would suggest the same as soon as the game says your world champ in season 2 switch the settings to full damage and total your car and retire it will save you having to complete every race

Despite the achievement saying that you can do it in Co-op or Career you can't do a combination of the two. I complete both Career (Force India) and Co-op (Red Bull) and was crowned champion but I didn't recieve this achievement.

By the looks of it you have to do a like for like in order to get the achievement. E.g. Complete Co-op using Red Bull and McLaren.

If you are following the road map then you will be winning the Drivers' World Championship in your first season before moving to one of the big teams to win it again in season 2 on hard which will get you this trophy. If you don't want to do it that way, you have another chance in co-op as long as you pick a different team to the one you won it with in career. Failing that, you will have to do another career or co-op season so it's best to plan ahead with this one. You won't have to worry about it if you're following the road map.

You should also note that this will not pop when the championship trophy pops. For example, if you win your first season in career and then your second on hard as the road map suggests, then it will pop at the end of season 2, even if you win the championship a lot earlier than that.

You will be required to either win two Drivers' World Championships in career mode or online Co-op mode, each with a different team.Online Co-op is by far the easier choice, as you will have a friend to back you up and help you out by crashing off the competition.Once you are done with your first season and you win the WDC, start another one and select a different team.

If you consider doing this in career mode, be advised that unless you are a skilled/seasoned driver you will need to wait to get promoted to a better team than the one you are starting out with. After winning your first WDC, you will need to switch teams to win it a second time.

Don't worry though, after winning the WDC you will have enough offers on your table. In any case, make sure to set the A.I. difficulty to Amateur to help you get this achievement faster.
