In "Season Challenge" mode, you will be able to select a rival from the main hub before you race, simply beat him in two races (out of three) to unlock this achievement. Aim to out-qualify the rival in the one-shot qualifying to maximise the chance of beating him in the race.
To make this easier, you can:
- Select a rival from a lower rated team (HRT, Caterham, Marussia)
- Select easy as the difficulty for the Season Challenge, giving you access to the top teams (Red Bull Racing, McLaren Mercedes, Ferrari)

I think you should point out that to beat the rival you have to defeat him in 2 of 3 races. I beat my rival in my first race last night but the achievement didn't pop. Further research tells me that I need to beat him one more time to truly defeat him and earn this achievement.

Thanks to the comment above that explained why I didnt get this after beating Jenson Button in the first race.

You can select your rival as soon as you start Season Challenge. Select a driver in a team you know you can beat. The rival challenge is a best of three, beat him twice and you get a contract offer from him team.

At the begining of the Season Challenge you will need to select a rival. Each rival challenge consist of a best of 3 races. When you win 2 races you will beat the rival and get this to pop!
