How to unlock the Austin Power achievement in F1 2012 - Definitive Guide
Tips:
Pre-Race:
- Main Menu, Proving Grounds, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, United States, Dry.
- Engineer, Quick Car Setup: DRY.
Pre-Lap:
- Save up KERS to use while pulling into the straightaway after the last corner, and make sure to have DRS deployed.
- Pass the line going as fast as possible to give yourself the best possible chance of a fast lap.
Lap:
- Make sure to downshift (x button) when braking to reduce braking distance.
- Use your ghost as a benchmark and keep in mind where you should make up ground on it.
- Use KERS and DRS at the beginning of the long straight, until you have about half a bar of KERS left, while keeping DRS deployed.
- I prefer to have the "corners only" race line enabled to give me a braking reference, and the fastest line through each corner.
- Use the remainder of your KERS in the final stretch, and make sure to have DRS enabled.
You need to beat a time of a 1:39.635 at the Austin track (Circuit of the Americas) and it has to be a valid lap time for this one to unlock. The time itself is not difficult to beat, however if you are struggling a custom setup may help. If you are struggling to find a site that has setups. I personally use this site; RaceDepartment.com Setups. I beat it by 0.8s in the end after only 5/10 laps with a few mistakes, so this one should be quite easy to beat.
If you are struggling, refer to the video & guide below
You should get this while going for "Trials FORMULA ONE" so it takes one of the 5 circuits out.
Choose Dry weather and change the set-up of your car to get a faster lap. I recommend using THIS SITE for car set-ups.
Here is a video of this getting done that might help you with the times on each sector:
