You don't have to win, just make sure you cross the line at the end of the race - don't get disqualified basically
It turns out that they have put in a mechanic where if you pause the game in an online race, the AI takes over. It doesn't drive very fast but it will drive for you for as long as the game is paused
The easiest way to get this achievement is to go to the beginners hopper, as there is no collision, choose sprint and wait for the race to start.
When you see the lights count up just press start and do what you want for 10 mins ... rinse and repeat
If you stay in ear-shot of the TV you will hear the cars once the race ends, there is no engine noise when it is paused

This can easily be boosted with one other person in a private lobby. Select Multiplayer then Custom Race. Select Lobby Options and in Session Options change the max players to 2, turn off practice/qualifying and set it to 3 laps. Change any other settings you’d like then return to the lobby.
Press X to select tracks and choose the Custom Season option. Press Y twice, then add the Austria track with X (this is the quickest track). Invite your boosting partner and both ready up to start racing. You can choose to idle the races due to the game driving for you when you pause during an online race.
After returning to the lobby from the previous race, all you need to do is ready up again. This is the quickest way to finish races and being able to idle it is a nice bonus.
