When you are on the R&D Tree, there is an option to choose the recommended upgrade. Purchase this upgrade and you will get the achievement.

In Career Mode you can upgrade your car with Upgrade Points which are earned by completing Free Training, Practice Programmes (during Free Training), Qualifying and the Race itself. These points can then be spent towards upgrades.
When you open your laptop inbetween races, go to the 'Research and Development' tab with 
and select 'View R&D Tree' with 
. In the following menu you can select upgrades that will be developed by your team outfit's R&D employees. To obtain this trophy, simply select the upgrade that is recommended by your team.
