For those new to racing games, "pole position" refers to the first slot on the starting grid.
To take Pole Position you need to finish in first place in a Qualifying session by setting the fastest laptime.
You can do this in any Game Mode where Qualifying sessions are present, but for now I recommend Grand Prix.
Choose whichever car/driver/track combination you like.
In the race settings, you can change a few to make things easier/quicker:
> Weather: Clear
> Qualifying: One-Shot Qualifying
> Rules and Flags: Off
> AI Difficulty: 0 (Very Easy)
Do the above, set the fastest laptime and at the end of the session the Achievement is yours. You do not need to complete the race that follows Qualifying.

This trophy will more than likely come naturally during your Career. Pole position means you can start the race from the first position on the grid and is obtained by setting the fastest time in a qualification session, Remember this can be done on any difficulty.
