I unlocked this without even trying or realising. I was boosting with my room mates account for other online achievements (lets face it, getting clean races in can take forever when all most people want to do is ram into you).
I had edited my look a few times prior to going into a custom private session, and after that one race, the achievement unlocked. I would recommend you change it up a few times before going online from the home customisation tab (remember its for your multiplayer car, not your my team).
Home --> Customisation
Liveries --> Create New
Choose any design as you can change it back.
You could even change your Avatar and Number if you wish.
Once that's changed, back out to Home, and Select Multiplayer.
Social Play (or it could work for leagues) --> Choose a Session or start your own.
You don't need to win, just complete the race. It should unlock for you after the race is finished.
I tried to change my livery from the lobby before readying up, but couldn't, so if it doesnt work for you, i would say quit, change it up, and go into another session.
I hope this helps somewhat :)

Anyone have a step by step walkthrough for this? Tried changing stuff and not having any luck.
