The easiest way to get this that doesn't resolved around luck would be to track who is in the lead on racenet.

When a new season starts you can't go on the game otherwise it will make you choose and driver and team.
Check racenet and set a reminder for about 24 hours before the season ends.
When the reminder goes off check racenet for what driver and team is currently in the lead then open the game and choose those options then wait for the season to end.
EDIT:
With the new season started you can't see the standings however you can still see when the season will end.
When the time remaining is less than 24 hours, either:

Instead of waiting 24 hours before the end, I'd recommend doing it as close to the end as possible (the final update to the leaderboards is 30 minutes from the end)
I locked in Tsunoda + VCARB who were narrowly ahead of Hulkenburg + Haas about 8 hours before the end but ended up losing out to Hulkenburg and just narrowly winning with VCARB
