You only need a total of 25 books for this achievement, and the reward for all 25 is a silver key, part of the 30 key achievement:

The You Are A Super Player achievement in Fable Anniversary worth 101 pointsFind all 30 silver keys. In unrelated news; the Fable Anniversary Strategy guide is available now!

You can find the books either on a bookcase, inside smash-able containers, in a merchant's inventory or just sitting on a table. After donating nine books, you'll receive a Wizard Hat. It will be Bright or Dark depending on which books were donated.

My advice would be to check every bookshelf & cupboard in every house, just be mindful that it counts as stealing if you're witnessed.

"What book is where in a town is mostly random I believe". Not completely. The Oakvale Raid is Always in the same house, in the same book shelf. It is in the most right part of town, and is the house which stands agaist the one closest to the Chicken Kicking Competition. The house closest to the chest with the resurrection phial in it. (it has only one floor, not the house with a second floor)

Is anyone else having a problem where he is stuck on a book that doesn't count despite you having books that do count in your inventory?

He seems to really not like that I have the book of spells and is ignoring my creatures of the north one.

I had that problem. He doesn't actually get stuck, you just don't have a book that he wants so I'm not entirely sure that Creatures of the North actually counts. Did you remember to grab the book from Bowerstone North? That was what I was missing.

Yes that was my 24th book. I have almost all of the bad books on this list currently in my inventory and a majority of the good ones too.
I just need to figure out which book I am still missing.

These are the only 25 that he will accept, he might comment on some but will only accept these.

Sadly not mate, the game doesn't track them so you'll have to either memorise them or strike them off a list.

If I may...add a tip...its a great idea to OWN the house that is next door to the school temporarily, the teacher only accepts 4-5 books a day (from my experience) and if you have all 25 books in your inventory, its real easy just to crash there, and give more the next morning because it takes like 5 days to give all the books away

Just to let everyone know, i did this with fable anniversary and you can stand there and give him all 25 books in one go, one after the other without needing to sleep inbetween. So go collecting throughout the game until you have them all, then do it all in one go, might save a bit of time.

It's more an issue with the in-game day/night cycle. He only accepts books between certain times of day, how many depends on how long you listen to him talking about each book.

Sometimes the list just needs to refresh, happened to me.

Also, a good way to find out what books you've already given, if you haven't kept track, like me. Is to recollect books already give, most of which you can. After you get a stack of renewable books, like from the Hero's Guild and such, take them to the teacher. Once he stops accepting any, scratch off any in your inventory of the 25. It shouldn't be hard to remember if you've given him unique books like "The Oakvale Raid", If you don't, then go to where they are located. If you can't find it and it's not in your inventory, chances are, you gave it to him. Hope that helps.

There's a total of 25 books in the game. They are divided in 2 categories, good an evil. Out of the first 9 books you turn in, you will receive a sorcerer's hat according to the type of the majority of them, either good or evil. After that it doesn't matter anymore the type of book you turn in .In the video are also included the 30 Silver keys. In the video description there is a timeline so you can go directly to the part you're looking for.
