How to unlock the Fable Heroes achievement in Fable Anniversary - Definitive Guide

Fable Heroes: Turn in all the hero dolls to the Bowerstone Teacher and donate them to the children to earn the Jack of Blades Hero Doll.

You get hero dolls during the pub games for completing them exceptionally. Minimum bet for the pub games is 1 gold coin, and each can be found in the tavern at the respective town.

Briar Rose doll: Bowerstone South - Card pairs. Beat in under 30 seconds.
This will probably be the most frustrating doll to obtain, I know it was for me. I started at the top and did the first four cards back to back and memorized them and kept going one by one down, matching them as I went. I tried bottom to top and wasn't getting matches fast enough. It's going to take quite a bit of luck plus an excellent memory of the already revealed cards. Good luck.

Whisper doll: Oakvale - Coin golf. Use 11 moves or less.

Twinblade doll: Twinblade's Camp - Spot the addition. Complete in under 25 seconds.

Scarlet Robe doll: Knothole Glade - Card sorting. Complete in under 25 seconds.

Thunder doll: The Arena or Bowerstone North - Purchased from shops. You can either steal this from the vendor or buy it from him at the Arena. If you miss the Arena you can buy it at the General store at Bowerstone North (Bowerstone North is unlocked after beating the Arena).

Maze doll: Hook Coast - Shove ha'penny. Score 30 or more points in the game

Scythe doll: Snowspire Village - Coin golf. Use 10 or less moves.

After collecting all the hero dolls above, go to Bowerstone South and enter the tavern to initiate the cut scene of the Teacher walking down the stairs. He will ask if you want to donate the dolls to the children, accept. You will then receive the Jack of Blades Hero doll and the achievement will pop for completing the quest.

**TIP/TRICK** For an unfair advantage over the complete in X amount of time requirements, simply use the spell "Slow Time" and then talk to the game master to initiate the game (don't be too close to the person before casting "Slow Time"). The spell will last the entire session. The elapsed time and game will go very slow to give you more time to read the cards/game pieces and do moves. You will have more than enough time to take your time and still receive a hero doll. Obviously you can't use this trick if you're in Bowerstone as you are unable to use spells and/or weapons. If your character is evil, I would recommend casting slow time outside the tavern and then walking in and talking to the game master. If you scare them either use good/social expressions or fast travel somewhere else and come back. This trick obviously works best when in good alignment.

Thanks to mysticwolf83 for tips about evil alignment. Read comments below if you're having trouble with "Slow Time," or just do it legit.

**UPDATE**

For Card Pairs in Bowerstone South:
The game pauses if you open the Guide menu. So uncover a card, pause the game with the Guide button, and write down the card and its location and/or look for matches. Repeat until you've matched all the cards. CREDIT: Vektor0

had the same thing happen to me, got all of the dolls went back to Bowerstone and entered the Taven, there wasn't a cut scene and I couldn't find the teacher anywhere. I had a save before I went to Bowerstone and reloaded it, went to the school and he was there. really hated this achievement. also its really annoying that being an evil character means having to listen to everyone scream in terror and the stupid game masters running away from you when you try to talk to them makes doing the slow time trick really hard.

Actually it was patched in the HD version of The Lost Chapters on the PC, so it was nice to see it work again in this version. Thanks for the comment and I will edit out the exploit for other users.

I hate this achievement and the person that designed it. >.< It took me an age to finally get the Bowerstone doll. (Through pure luck.) Now I'm getting enraged doing the coin golf game in Oakvale. This is the last achievement I need, and it's BY FAR the most annoying in the game.

@an7man, a child should approach you during the day when you're nearing the school. He tells you about the teacher needing the dolls and then starts the quest. After that, you can talk to the teacher to turn them in. But first you need to have the quest started by the little kid.

The game pauses if you open the Guide menu. So uncover a card, pause the game with the Guide button, and write down the card and its location and/or look for matches. Repeat until you've matched all the cards. I was able to get a score of about 25 seconds.

You can't use any magic or weapons regardless of alignment in Bowerstone, you have to do it legit as said above. You can however use the guide button to cause the game to pause, also described above.

For Pairs and Spot the Addition, try saying the cards/items out loud to yourself. Might sound funny, but it is a memory trick that can make a surprising difference.

Just another addition from me, after I got all the dolls I fast travelled to bowerstone and went to the school during the day , teacher was nowhere to be seen, slept a few times , left bowerstone and re-entered a few times, bastard still wasn't there. Dashboarded and he was there in the school as soon as I went back.

A good trick I found with the coin golf is using the right stick (which moves the camera), when you want to aim left/right. It is a lot slower and more accurate than trying to use the left stick (and also means you can keep the power held in the same position and less risk of letting go by accident)

For anyone becoming irritated with the NPC's constant comments while you're playing. Mute our tv or turn off your headphones (ie: Turtle Beach). I did this for the coin golf and card pairs games and it helped me out a lot.

For the card pairs; ignore the timer and just play with the dashboard method. Once I did this I got it at @ 29.7 seconds. It took me about a dozen attempts, but I did it.

Hi, if you have problems casting the Slow Time spell as Opproperaar commented and myself, you need to upgrade the mana level in the powers menu at the Heroes' Guild. If the icon appears greyed out is because you don't have enough mana to cast the spell. Hope this helps.

Finally got it but word to the wise, DO NOT leave the Briar Rose as your last doll, I just won it and the teacher was right there in the tavern and it froze my character in place, I still got the cheevo, but was forced to exit out of the game....I want to try and sell my Thunder doll, THEN win the Briar Rose doll, and buy the doll back later, and see what happens.....

UPDATE: I sold my Thunder doll in Bowerstone North, then I went back to the tavern to win the Briar Rose doll, then I went back to Bowerstone North to buy my Thunder doll back, teacher ran up to me, exchanged dolls without a hiccup, might be VERY IMPORTANT to add this in your guide!!
I got the achievement anyways when my game froze, but I wanted to try my theory out and it worked.....make sure you don't have ALL dolls on you if Briar Rose is you last doll!!!! You can safely sell your Thunder doll since Bowerstone North sells it anyways.....

In Bowerstone South, even if you dashboard it is still very much luck based. Keep at it, and eventually you will get lucky at it.

I had 2 Thunder dolls in my inventory and the scene with the teacher wouldn't trigger. Now, I don't know if that was what was causing the scene with the teacher to not trigger but after selling one of the Thunder dolls in Bowerstone North, the scene finally triggered. So you might wanna check your inventory for that before going to hand it in.

For COIN GOLF, what worked for me is to have the camera angle really close to the table an the coin. Hold left stick up, then use the left stick to control power (forward and backward), but use the RIGHT stick to control direction (left and right). Trying to control both using only the left stick really gets to be too much. Also, it's really going to come down to practice. Try a few times, try to memorize the spots that worked, like some of the rounds can be completed in one shot! Took me about an hour to complete the first coin golf just now.

Coin Golf was horrible. The Card Pairs is very simple with the Guide Button. I got 30.1 on my second try. I got it with several seconds to spare on my third try. You just need to get lucky and get one of the pairs without trying.

The real problem was Coin Golf. There are videos on Youtube that will help. With a little practice you can get the first and second hole done in one or two shots. Then you are left with a lot of a safety net for the final two.

I don't know why, but my slow time spell seems to have glitched on me. I can still select and assign it to a slot but I can't cast it anymore. The icon is just greyed out when I try to and it won't do anything. I've checked numerous times whether or not I had the correct spell selected and the mana was full, and I can still cast other spells just fine. It's just slow time.

I don't know if anyone else has encountered this problem and has a solution for it? I couldn't really find anything on it online and it's really annoying me. I only have the Knothole Glade card sorting left to go but without slow time I can't even manage to do the game in the maximum time limit of 35 seconds, never mind 25!

This achievement is one of the worst I've seen in my entire Xbox tenure. And it's all down to the shitty controller inputs on these mini-games. Whoever designed these mini-games, worked on the control scheme and controller inputs, should be taken out back and beaten with a Duke controller.

Of course in a game full of fun and easy achievements, they had to add at least 1 that makes you want to die.. this is a joke, 30 seconds for the card? Even with the dashboard and writing down method, you need a ton of luck
0
0
By GsO Light on 16 Jul 2020 17:52
in bowerstone I timed how long it takes to turn over each card once, takes 23-24 seconds, so you basically have 6 seconds to grab any pairs you dont get by good luck next to each other. I dont think it was play tested. Luckily slow can be used for the other towns, and we have the pause guide trick.

This leaves the coin game, oh boy what a game of frustration, its good its skill not rng, however its bad I suck at it.

A warning to those doing Card Pairs (Bowerstone South) last: Immediately after earning the doll, the cutscene with the teacher began. I'm not sure of the cause, but I think he must have been wandering near / inside the tavern at the moment of my win. The result was an odd glitch which combined the cutscene dialogue with the Card Pairs game interface. I thought the game had crashed, but after I understood what was happening, I was able to give the dolls to the teacher and earn the achievement. Just be sure, as always, to save often and keep a backup. I'll post a clip of the mess after TA uploads, in case anyone cares to see.

I don't know if you would call that even an exploit. The same could be done in the Original Fable: The Lost Chapters and i don't see why it should be called a exploit instead of it just being a smart trick. So i don't see them fixing this "exploit" since it was in the original game and they didn't remove it from this version. They clearly don't see it as an exploit and just as smart usage of a gameplay feature.

With current patches the trick does work. Like TweakX stated, it doesn't work in Bowerstone South. Also, if you use the spell in front of the gamemaster they can get scared and stand up, especially if your hero is evil, preventing you from playing until you use an appropriate Good or Social Expression such as Giggle to reset their attitude to make them sit back down. If they get scared of you during the middle of a game they will stand up and you will be forced out of the game and lose your bet. I found it best to cast the spell when 0 people could view me or at least when I knew the gamemaster wasn't, then run up and initiate the pub game without any problems.

Took my a few tries in Twinblade's Camp to figure this out since I was playing with an evil hero at the time. There was even one point where the gamemaster stood up in the middle of Round 4 and caused the game to freeze, forcing me to restart from the last checkpoint after resetting my console. Still, this is a good trick and makes the pub games much easier to do in a reasonable amount of time.

The rest of the dolls were SO easy compared to that darn Briar Rose!!! Lowest I can get is 33.9, and the other 2 last cheevos I have left are story related.....grr!!! As for coin golf....think of it as playing pool (or billiards), then it gets to be SO dang easy!! If you can't get it in the hole within 2 shots on the first 2 holes, just restart, 3rd one usually requires 3, I usually always get a hole in one on the first hole...

It seems to me that this achievement is missable. When you encounter the teacher in Bowerstone after obtaining all of the dolls, you have the option to tell him no when he asks for your dolls. If you tell him no, the quest will be marked as complete and you will not be able to get the Jack of Blades doll.

I'm having issues with the Gamemaster in TwinBlade's camp too. Did the quest where you rescue the traders and after that he was gone. Just finished the arena, came back and he's still gone.

I love this game, but the achievements are infuriating. It glitched on my last playthrough with not being able to give the dolls to the teacher, and it seems to have glitched on me yet again. This is one of the last achievements I need :(

the briar rose doll in bowerstone south can be easily obtained by simple use of the dashboard button, have a pen and paper ready, flip ur first 2 cards and instantly hit dashboard button to pause the game an write them down, from then on just continue the flip/pause/write down combo an u should have it in know time, i spent 3-4 hours trying for this until my misses called me so i hit dashboard button and then realized i could use this method after that i had it in 5mins

on a side note - the instant u see what the card is hit dashboard, its just wasting time if u wait for it to be fully flipped

Video-guide of Fable Anniversary to get all Hero Dolls of the game, which can be found in the taberns of all villages.

I don't use it in the videos, but you can use the slow down spell before you play the games (do it far from the mater or he will get scared). In the desciption of the video there is a timeline with shortcuts to all the dolls.

Bower Stone South - Briar Rose - Beat in under 30 seconds.
Oakvale - Whisper - Use 11 moves or less.
Twinblade 's Camp - Twinblade - Complete in under 25 seconds.
Knothole Glade - Scarlet Robe - Complete in under 25 seconds.
Arena - Thunder - Score 30 or more points in the game.
Hoak Coast - Maze
Snowspire Village - Scythe - Score 30 or more points in the game
Bower Stone South - Sud - Jack - Use 10 or less moves.

At the beggining of the video I speak in Spanish but it's just and introduction and I don't say anything relevant.
If anyone make a negative vote please tell me why, so I can improve my future videos.
Greets.

Those who have worked hard on this achievement will understand that the most difficult doll is the hero’s mother (Wichwood)
I spent a long time hovering over this doll and discovered the secret that you can SLOW DOWN TIME.
We pump up the skill to the fullest and go into the game, I set a record of 11 seconds.

It’s easier to complete the mini-game in Busheville by pausing the game using the Xbox Guide button and writing down which cards are where.

It’s unrealistically difficult to win in the Sorter in 25 seconds
