How to unlock the Keeping It Real achievement in Fable III - Definitive Guide

Once you have defeated the three escaped convicts you will need to complete a couple of missions before you decide what happens.

First you need to speak to the Lt. Hadley and he asks you to help find the five groups of convicts currently hiding on the island. Kill them and return to Lt. Hadley and complete the quest.

Next right before you head down to the ship you will see the Lt. Hadley again and he asks you to help with the Hollowmen infestation in the graveyard. He gives you a key and once you open the gate you need to run through three waves of Hollowmen. Once that's taken care of return to the Lt. Hadley.

Lt. Hadley will give you one final mission to find the five books written by his predecesser. The location of the books is:

Penologist's Handbook, Volume I
Exit the office and take the 2nd cell on the right. The book will be on the table.
Penologist's Handbook, Volume II
As soon as you enter the Keep turn to the right to enter the kitchen, go to the right and up the stairs and then take the left door. Now enter the 3rd cell on the right and go to the back. Go right again and dive down. Now follow the path till you come to a place with a chest on the left and a path to the right. Go right and open the door to pick up the book.
Penologist's Handbook, Volume III
From the office go down the stairs and then go right to end up in what seems like a boiler room. Open the door on your left to find the book.
Penologist's Handbook, Volume IV
Standing outside the keep head down towards the gallow, but turn left to the beach. Open the rusty gate and enter the cave, you will the book on a bed at the end of the cave.
Penologist's Handbook, Volume V
From the docks, head towards the Keep, once you reach the big stone stair case, turn right and follow the dirt path to the crypts, you will eventually encounter a gate at the bottom of a path that splits off. Behind the gate, inside the crypt you will find the book on the table.

Very good guide - just knowing that there were three more quests to complete before the option came up helped tremendously.
Also, with the exception of the second book (my fault entirely, I took a wrong turning and went round in a massive circle) the directions to their locations were dead easy to follow. Thanks for posting :)

What decision do you make with the keep and how does what you choose affect things?

The decision doesn't really mean jack. You decide whether to free the political prisoners. Keep them their or throw more people in there.

You can choose to free the political prisoners which will make your moral standing a little more good.

You can choose to keep the prison as it is, which will have no effect on your moral standing.

You can choose to keep any dissidents and anyone suspected of treason in the prison, which will make your moral standing a little more evil.

Other than changing your moral standing a little though, there's not any significant impact that you'll notice in the game (other than what the prisoners still in the prison say when you're near them).

I was also confused on how to get this, so thank you.

After finishing each of these quests, the next one didn't become available until I entered/exited an area. In case others were confused.
