How to unlock the Free Labor achievement in Fallout 3 - Definitive Guide

This is the the final quest.

Once you beat the Arena, you need to meet Ashur in Haven. So...

1. Get your gear from the footlocker by Faydra.
2. You need to leave the Arena. Two options: head through the Steelyard. Once you pass the guard, enter the door up the small ramp. Or, you go around to the other side of the Mill and head through a gate to Uptown.
3. You'll walk through Uptown for a bit. Up and over a building and eventually out of the city gates. There is a suspended walkway and a nice looking statue for you to walk underneath. Enter Haven!
4. Find "The Cure". See below...






***SPOILER***
After talking to Ashur, you have two choices:

1. Take the baby, she is "The Cure"!! She's located in the room with Sandra. This sides you with the slaves. Then you need to get the baby to Weurher in his secret hiding spot, then turn out the lights on up town and escape.

2. Or leave the building. This sides you with Ashur .

This is incorrect and misleading. You do NOT head through the Steelyard. You go around to the other side of the Mill and head through a gate to Uptown.

Also, for those wondering how you get your equipment back, there is a Footlocker in the Arena, next to the girl that gives you the fights. It's near a pipe.

You will obtain this achievement after you talk to Wernher, who is outside Midea's house. He tells you that you can now use the Ammo Press, which is in the Steel Mill, overlooking The Hole. Wernher also informs you that you can still collect more Steel Ingots.

You now have a big choice to make, and your choice will decide which route you travel to finish the quest. Given that this is a major spoiler, check my walkthrough for the choices you have. Story Related but GLITCHED

WARNING:

There are several nasty bugs that can lock you out of this trophy so make sure you save before entering Haven. See here for more details: LINK (credit to the Fallout Wiki for the link) and here: LINK (credit to MeltAnt for this info).

After the above conversation has finished, you will find a footlocker in front of you containing everything that was confiscated when you were beaten up on entering Downtown for the first time. Take and re-equip everything then make your way to Haven to talk to Ashur. The area around Haven has a low Frame-Rate so save and exit often. Once you get inside make your way to Ashur's office, talk to him then go into the next room and talk to his wife. This is the big decision point where you have to either:

  1. Side with Ashur and get rid of Wernher.
  2. Side With Werner, take the "Cure" then kill Ashur and his wife.


For the purposes of this guide we will be siding with Ashur.

After speaking with Ashur's wife, leave Haven and make your way to Midea's house. If you have the Child at Heart Perk then you can get her to confess that she was against stealing the "Cure" in the first place and it was Wernher's idea all along. Eventually she will tell you where Wernher is hiding so Fast Travel to The Steelyard and confront him in his hideout. If you have the Black Widow Perk you can avoid a shootout by persuading him to leave The Pitt and never return. If you don't have that Perk then you will have no choice but to kill him. However you deal with Wernher, return to Ashur afterwards and he will give you access to the Ammo Press in the The Mill, a new Perk called Booster Shot and be told to speak to his wife about how to help with her research.

The trophy will pop shortly before you finish talking to Ashur.

As soon as "Unsafe Working Conditions" ends, this quest will begin. You will have to steal or not steal the medicine girl. Whatever you choose, you will receive the achievement upon completion of the quest in any case. This concludes The Pitt expansion.
