How to unlock the One-Man Scouting Party achievement in Fallout 3 - Definitive Guide

The other solution of using the Explorer perk at level 20 is definetly a good idea. However, if your xbox is by a computer, why not use this map as a reference to all the locations in the game (I IN AM IN NOW WAY TAKING CREDIT FOR THIS MAP).

Map is unreadable and can't seem to be enlarged.

I didn't know this. You only need 100 locations, not ALL the locations in the game. I wasn't even half way finished the game when I noticed I already found 85 locations. It only took me about an hour of wandering the wasteland to find the last 15 for the achievement.

Just find the empty arrow on your compass to find a location, then repeat.

By completing quests and suchforth you should have around 70-80 locations by the end of the game.

You can experience the game and explore, OR you can cheat and use a map/get the Explorer perk at level 20.

Another way you could do this, is if you are just about to reach level 20, but don't want to waste your final perk on this achievement, then save it just before you level up to 20, and then after the 'cheevo pops up, load it back up, and pick your preferred favourite perk. :)

Best solution here because it's a waste of a perk just an achievement. Thanks!

Tried this in Game of the Year edition and it didn't automatically pop the achievement.

The title of this trophy is misleading as the "locations" have to appear on the World Map screen on your Pip-Boy, "locations" that appear only on the Local Map screen do not count towards this trophy. Examples of locations that count: Rivet City, Megaton etc. Anything that pops up saying "You have discovered "x" location" counts for the trophy see below for an example of this.

Undiscovered location icons:

Example of a newly discovered location icon:

Depending on how much exploring you've done, you could have this by the time you finish the "The American Dream" Quest, if not then explore some more. If you have any of the DLCs, then they will all contribute towards this trophy.

Notes:

  • You can check your progress in the "Stats" section of your Pip-Boy or via the statistic that sometimes appears during loading screens.
  • Taking the "Explorer" Perk will not give you this trophy as you still have to physically visit each location for it to count, though it will make it easier to find them.
  • DLC locations count towards this except the Alien Homing Beacon from the Mothership Zeta DLC.
  • Once you have uncovered the entire map, there will be one place left that you will not be able to visit without using exploits i.e the entrance to Vault 87. This is because the area around it is so radioactive it will kill you in seconds. If you want to try and get discover this location then see the video below for how to do it:

While traveling for side-quests, bobbleheads, behemoths and everything else in the game, you should get this achievement with little effort. If you reach level 20 and need some help, take the "Explorer" perk. This will show you the locations on your map but still allow you to "discover" the locations.

Note for PC Users: If you have used the "tmm 1" code to show all the locations, you will not receive credit for finding the places when arriving at them. All you have to do is open the console back up and type "tmm 0" to turn the locations off. Once you exit the console you will "discover" whatever location you're standing in. Type "tmm 0" again to hide that location and you will again discover it when you close the console. Repeat this process until you have "found" that same location 100 times.

By the end of the game, you will find the required number of locations while you complete various quests. At level 20 you can take the excellent Explorer perk. All locations will appear on the map, you will only have to visit some to make it 100.
