How to unlock the Strictly Business achievement in Fallout 3 - Definitive Guide

My suggestion is to finish other missions before this one: if you've helped ghouls of Tenpenny Tower and killed Arkansas during Moira's quest for her survival manual, you've just to enslave 2 people: Red and Flak.

Again: before entering Paradise Falls it's better to complete Big Trouble in Big Town (and before this, free Red from Supermutants in Germantown Police HQ - 2 blocks east of Paradise Falls).

Now you can enslave Red very easly: go to Big Town and wait for night time, then enter Red's house and use Mezzer on her while she's asleep.
Return to Paradise Falls and get another collar.

Now the difficult part: Flak is a very hard vip to enslave. My suggestion is to wait until 10.00 pm near his room (from Rivet City entrance, take the left door, go up the stairs, all the way, then turn right; the room is on your left).
Do not wait for him INSIDE his room, or he'll never appear.

SAVE the game now.

Be sure no guards is around, then be very quick: use mezzer on him and run near and hit A button to enslave him.

Sometime he awake immediately from mezzer and attack you; in this case reload your savegame.

Back to Paradise Falls.

Done :)

I know it's been a while, but can you remember if the folks at Rivet City ever stop being hostile towards you? I just did it, but now I need to go back for some missions...

ehm... It'a lot of time... but I remember that I've never be back in River City, because I did this mission very late and I've already completed all the side missions on this time...
Anyway, I've enslaved Flak without allerting anyone so I did find ant hostile npc on my path... but I think you can try leveling your karma to good... :)
Let me know if this can help you

The mesmatron worked on Red no problem but i don't get a dialogue box when i use it on Flak or Arkansas. I haven't tried it on the other woman yet. Any suggestions?

Sorry: I can't help... as you can read in my solution, Arkansas was already dead when I've started this quest.

Anyway, I remember that Flak issue was a little bit glitched... try reload a previous save or restart the quest.

If you are playing a good karma character, and you want to finish the Rescue from Paradise Falls quest too, I suggest you create a new save before you enter Paradise Falls. Finish the Paradise Falls quest, rewarding you with some nice loot and a whole lot of good karma. After you finish it, save your game to your normal save, then load the new save from before you started Rescue from Paradise. Now finish the Strictly Business quest using the guide above this post. Now you will still have your good karma character, and the Strictly Business achievement.

Once you enter paradise falls (3 grids north and half a grid East map of Arefu) there is a man there by the name of Grouse. He will not let you in unless you agree to capture slaves (this will give negative karma). However, you can pass a speech challenge and he will let you in without doing anything.

However, talk to Grouse. Do not do the speech challenge!! This way you make sure to have the quest as an option to complete. If you did do the speech challenge all is not lost. You can still go back to Grouse and ask to do the quest.

The quest consist of you "slaving" 4 individuals.
¦Flak from Rivet City
¦Red from Big Town
¦Susan Lancaster from Tenpenny Tower
¦Arkansas from Minefield

I'm not sure, but i would imagine that your screwed. On my first playthrough i killed Grouse, and had to play the game over again, just for this achievement. You may very well be in the same boat. HOpefully you've made a couple different saves. If so, i'd go back and get the achievement, then reload your further along save.

Good luck

I killed Arkansas before I started the quest. I only had to enslave three people (Red, Susan and Flak) and still got the achievement. So not a problem for yoy GriffinThrale21.

I never get an option to get inside for free. I either have to get the slaves or pay him 500

This achievement is missable. I was playing through with good karma and I was doing the quest "Rescue From Paradise." Not knowing about this side quest I killed every slaver in the camp in order to free the slaves needed to complete that quest. I had to start a second save to get this achievement since I killed everyone and saved the first time through. So as a warning, do this quest before "Rescue From Paradise" that way you know the slavers will still be there.

My solution is is very simple since the above posts were very helpful..... I am going to assume that you got the quest and just need a little help finishing it........

Arkansas can be a pain due to the mines and him shooting a sniper rifle at you........you can be patient and disarm mines between shots, then bum-rush him with the mezzer, otherwise, just kill him ether before or during the Wasteland Guide quest, 1 less person to worry about

Fallout 3The Wasteland Survival GuideThe The Wasteland Survival Guide achievement in Fallout 3 worth 29 pointsCompleted "The Wasteland Survival Guide"

Red....as for her, it may be better to complete Big Trouble in Big Town and free her in Germantown Police HQ
Reason: its easier to mezz her in her clinic in Big Town...or just kill her, your choice....

Fallout 3Big Trouble in Big TownThe Big Trouble in Big Town achievement in Fallout 3 worth 29 pointsCompleted "Big Trouble in Big Town"

Susan...she could be found on the third floor of Tenpenny Tower in her room at night. you need to use the elevator to get there (same floor as Tenpenny himself)
If you just want her dead with no karma loss, just find the Love Letter from "EW" in her room on a desk, show Millicent Wellington, and she will kill Susan and Edgar (her husband) for you....VERY useful for the "Tenpenny Tower" quest/achievement IF you want to side with Roy Phillips and have the ghouls move in PEACEFULLY ........

Fallout 3Tenpenny TowerThe Tenpenny Tower achievement in Fallout 3 worth 31 pointsCompleted "Tenpenny Tower"

FOREWORD: From my experience, Flak was sleeping alone in Dr.Li's room after 10pm, so you may want to Fast travel to Rivet City, save your game, then follow my directions to get to the room to see if he is indeed in her room first.......

Flak.......EASY for me for some reason, my sneak was only 53 with no "stealth-boys" (which might not be a bad idea)...zeno2k had a very good solution, but I just want to put more detail into it....
Fast travel to Rivet City (after 10pm)....after you cross the bridge (of course), enter the door on the left (Door to Stairwell), go up ONE flight of stairs, enter the door right in front of you (Door to Upper Deck), go to the end of the hall to reach the "T-section", (you will see two signs "Science Lab ->", and "The Weatherly Hotel->"), turn right, go to the end of this hall, and you will get to another "T-Section" with 4 signs this time, turn left here and go all the way to the end, and turn around, SAVE YOUR GAME!!! There are 2 doors, left side should be Dr. Li's room (Locked-average) (where Flak was sleeping alone), and the right door was the Science Lab, there will be a SINGLE guard patroling, walking back and forth, up and down the long hall, ( I really don't know if he was actually single or not, I didn't stop to ask), but anyways.....wait till the guard walks up towards you, then when he turns around and goes back up the stairs, quickly pick the lock, but DO NOT GO IN YET...just close the door and wait outside the door for the guard to come back then go back up the stairs again, soon as he does, run into the room, mezz Flak, then collar him, he should run out of the room, DON"T PANIC, if the door is closed, (if not, close it), stay in the room, go into sneak mode until you are "hidden", if you did everything right, you should be able to just walk out and exit Rivet City with no problems at all....fast travel back to Paradise Falls, Grouse should automatically talk to you, and the achievement should pop up

If this solution helped, please leave a comment
If you gave me a negative vote, please leave a comment asking me if I care....too late.....I don't........I just got this achievement literally 10 mins ago and it worked for me

Alot of credit rightfully goes to zeno2k....he had a great solution to begin with, (it helped me), I just wanted to help make it a little more detailed....

Highly MISSABLE

If you do anything to annoy the slavers in Paradise Falls then the Quest will fail and never come back.

To start this Quest you need to talk to Grouse at Paradise Falls about making some extra cash and, after a few arguments, he'll give you a Mesmatron and some ammo. After receiving the Mesmatron, Grouse will give you a list of four people he wants you to enslave who are:

  1. Flak: Rivet City
  2. Red: Big Town (Make sure you've completed "Big Trouble in Big Town" first)
  3. Susan Lancaster: Tenpenny Tower
  4. Arkansas: Minefield

Warning: If Red dies during the "Big Trouble in Big Town" Quest then this trophy will be unobtainable for the current playthrough.

If you play your cards right, you can get this trophy with the bare minimum of effort by not starting it until after "The Wasteland Survival Guide", "Big Trouble in Big Town" and "Tenpenny Tower" Quests by following the appropriate sections of this guide. We say leave it as doing this after those Quests will make you life a whole lot easier, because both Arkansas and Susan will be dead thanks to you killing Arkansas and Roy Philips will have killed Susan, Red will likely be dead after the Super Mutant attack on Big Town which just leaves Flack and Red (Red will be at the Clinic if she survives the Super Mutant assault).

Here is an explanation for the “Red is already dead” method by BerserkerBR:

You can finish this Quest enslaving just the guy at Rivet City if Red (the medic from Big Town) is dead too. This happened to me without knowing.

Red mustn't die while you do the Quest "Big Trouble, Big Town" but she can die after that. I'll tell you how:

After finishing the Quest and escorting Red to Big Town, she will tell you about the invading waves of Super Mutants and that you can help to defend the city. I repaired the robot Sentinel and left the city cause defending it wasn't part of the Quest.

Several days after when I came back to sell stuff and heal, the city was empty like a ghost city because nobody was there.

When I got Strictly Business following your Guide, 2 of 4 targets were down + Red was dead because I didn't help to defend; the result was enslaving just the Rivet City guy and bringing him back finished the Quest, gave me the trophy.

If Red survives then ensure you Mezz her whilst she's in her Clinic else the town will turn hostile, thus making it difficult to leave the area alive.

Getting Flak will not be easy because any show of hostility will cause everyone with a gun to start shooting at you. The best way to get him is wait until he goes to bed in his room on the Upper Deck, then Mezz him but make sure Shrapnel isn't there or is at least a sleep else all hell will break loose. It's best to get Flak first as he's the hardest one to grab but make sure you get another Collar from Grouse before you go after Red because you can only carry one at any given time.

The trophy will pop after collecting your fee for both Red and/or Flack from Grouse.

Strictly Business is acquired when you visit Paradise Falls. Aside from bribing the person out front, completing this quest is the only way of getting inside the town. If you do bribe him, simply speak with him again and you can still get the quest. Make sure you do not tell him you don't like slavery or the town will turn hostile and the quest won't be available.

You will need to shoot four targets with the Mesmetron, then speak with them and convince them to put a collar on and go to Paradise Falls. If you can get each person alone, you can have this done without the town they live in freaking out on you. If you are seen, everyone will immediately turn hostile. The four people you need are:

  • Flak from Rivet City
  • Red from Big Town
  • Susan Lancaster from Tenpenny Tower
  • Arkansas from Minefield

You will receive negative karma everyone time you enslave someone and there is a big chance you will piss off entire towns doing this quest, so it is suggested you save just before doing the quest, then finish it and reload your previous save.

See Strictly Business for more specific info.

To start this quest you need to come to Paradise Falls and talk to Grumpy, standing right at the entrance to the city. Upon completion of the quest you will receive an achievement.
