How to unlock the Community Organizer achievement in Fallout 4 - Definitive Guide

***This guide may contain spoilers

In order to get this achievement, you must help out three settlements throughout the wasteland. The easiest way to do this is to complete some side quests for Preston Garvey as he will tell you where to go to help different settlements. In order to receive the quests from Preston, you must save him from raiders at the Museum of Freedom. To activate the quest simply go to the museum(near Concord, South-East of Vault 111) and you will trigger a quest titled "When Freedom Calls". After finishing this quest, he will ask you to join him in Sanctuary, do so. Next, talk to him and he will give you different quests to help out different settlements, along the way you should complete the following quests for him:
"The First Step", "Returning the Favor", and "Raider Troubles at Oberland Station".
After finishing "Raider Troubles at Oberland Station" the achievement should unlock.

edit- if you don't get it after completing the listed quests, Preston Grey will continue to give you quests to help other settlements.

This is how i got it. You have to get them to join the minuteman. they will say something about joining after you help them out.

Yeah, I've definitely finished "Raider Troubles at Oberland Station" and didn't unlock this either.

I have also helped out over 3 settlements by doing these quests, my achievement has not unlocked.

He's technically correct, the only thing is Returning The Favor will not happen until AFTER Taking Independence. So you'll have to do The First Step, then Raider Troubles, then after Taking Independence will you be able to do Returning the Favor.

That can't be correct either since more people have the achievement for allying with 3 settlements than completing the mission Taking Independence.

You just have to complete three quests that involve helping out a community. It does not have to be those three specific quests. I got it after helping out Graygarden.

This is most certainly glitchy. I had about 10 settlements up and running and supply lines running between them all before this finally unlocked for me. 4 or 5 of those settlements had quests involved with them. Given all that, I can't see that any of the other offered solutions in these comments are a fix beyond "just keep going."

I had completed; "When Freedom Calls","The First Step", "Taking Pount:Starlight Drive-In", "Raider Troubles at Oberland Station" THE ONLY Garvey quests given, had 5 settlements all doing fantastic and NO ACHIEVEMENT! Returning the favor was only available by Blake Abernathy at Albernathy Farm, once that was completed/locket returned, it popped. You should include this possibility.

Should be noted (nearly 2 years later) "Taking Pount: Starlight Drive-In" isnt "allying" with a settlement. You're just taking control of an abandon plot of land lol

I'm on PC, and I was struggling to figure out why I didn't get this achievement (the walkthrough says Taking Independence unlocks after three settlements join the Minutemen). Then I saw the quest list and compaired it to mine. I didn't have Returning the Favor, so I went looking for the Abernathy Farm manually (Preston went to the fort). As soon as I handed in the quest, the game handed me the achievement.

Can confirm, it only unlocks after completing Returning the Favour.

You don’t need Returning the Favor to unlock this. I know because Blake Abernathy bugged out in my game and wouldn’t give me the quest dialogue, even when I went and retrieved the locket and brought it back to him.

Just keep completing quests that Preston Garvey gives you. Eventually he’ll give you quests to help other settlements you haven’t allied with yet, like The Slog and Finch Farm. I did those two (must have picked up a third earlier) and got the achievement.

For what it's worth, this achievement unlocked for me after I established supply lines with three other settlements.

I had done all the things listed above -- helped settlements, told them I was with the Minutemen, and asked them to join the Minutemen if the option wss available. After helping four settlements no achievement unlocked. So I moved on and decided to tackle it later. Once I got the Local Leader perk (Charisma 6) I started setting up supply lines to share food and resources. I was surprised when this achievement unlocked.

Finally, in case it matters, the happiness of the three settlements I chose was all at 70% or higher.

Hope this helps if you didn't get the achievement to unlock initially.

To unlock Community Organiser you need to simply help out any three settlements,

Despite what the other solution states, it is not directly related to the Minutemen (although this does give quests to help towards it).

Early settlements include Greygarden, Tenpines Bluff (Minutemen quest). Greentop Nursery and Oberland Station (Minutemen quest).

Simply complete the quest that the settlers give you in any three settlements to unlock this achievement,

You can do this Achivment quite easly if you follow the quest line, once you saved Preston in Concord he will give you quest to ally settlements the first two you will need to kill the boss leader of two locations, you don't have to kill all bandits if you go for the leader with the names you can go and finish the quest and the third one is to clear some water supplies as soon as you talk to the robots in the third settlement the achivment will pop

The game glitched when i did the quests by console commands, but you can help yourself with "tgm" and no collisions

This achievement will come with natural progression in the Minutemen's questline. You essentially just need to do the quest for three settlements and after helping the third settlement, the achievement will unlock.

As you advance through the Minutemen questline, you will have to ally with a few settlements in order to complete the actual quest. This trophy is practically unmissable as you will ally with a lot more than 3 Settlements over the course of the game anyway. A Settlement is any location which has a happiness meter and an icon showing how many people are there.
