How to unlock the Docile achievement in Fallout 4 - Definitive Guide
Pick an empty settlement (so settlers don't get killed on accident.)
1. Build a large generator.
2. Build a large switched power pylon
3. Build a beta wave emitter.
4. Build a bed
5. Build 5 cages (mutant hounds are best, because you can buy Brahmin meat like crazy in Diamond City Market from Polly to your right as you enter. And you wait 2 days for her to replenish her inventory )
6. Connect the cages to the switched pylon, and the beta wave emitter and the switched pylon directly to the generator.
7. Sleep for 3-5 days (or until doors on traps are all closed)
8. Flip switch to off/red. If all the same animal type, they should not attack each other.
Done. No need for multiple generators.
(Does not unlock with already domestic animals like cats, dogs, and Brahmin)
I'm making the correction.
Did all 5 at the same time and had no issues using this method. They remained tame long enough for the achievement before killing each other for whatever reason.
Also you will need 9 CHR for the perk to be able to make the Emitter.
"Wasteland Whisperer & Animal Friend" are required.
Total amount of resources required;
10 x Copper
30 x Steel
8 x Aluminum
4 x Crystals
5 x Nuclear Material
3 x Circuitry
2 x Rubber
Then for each cage, you'll need either ;
2 Brahmin meat, 4 Radroach meat, 2 Softshell mirelurk meat or 3 Canned dog food.
Confirmed it works with the rad roach and dog food.
Hope this helps guys!
DOGS, CATS, AND BRAHMIN DON'T COUNT TOWARDS THE ACHIEVEMENT!!!
All 5 of the creatures have to be creatures that would normally attack you by default if you happend to come across them while exploring the wasteland. For example Mole Rats, Deathclaws, Radroaches, Mirelurks, etc.
I personally did this with 1 Deathclaw, 1 Insect, 1 Mutant Hound, 2 Mole Rats
Another thing to note is, make sure the emitter has it own generator and all 5 of the cages are connected to another separate generator.
GENERATOR 1 -> EMITTER
GENERATOR 2 -> ALL 5 CAGES
I hope this guide helps anybody that is having trouble getting this achievement.
coc redrocketext
1. Build a large generator. (Power>Generators)
2. Build a large switched power pylon (Power>Connectors & Switched) near the generator
3. Build a beta wave emitter. (Cages>Miscellaneous) near the generator
4. Build a bed (Furniture>Beds)
5. Build 10 mutant hound cages (Cages>Small Cages) in front of the pylon
6. Connect the cages to the switched pylon, and the beta wave emitter and the switched pylon directly to the generator.
7. Use the bed to sleep for 3-5 days (or until doors on at least 5 traps are closed)
8. Flip switch to off/red. It should pop.
Thanks to NeoMikeMX for the original guide on the Xbox One version.
1) Build a couple generators and attach them by wire to the cages (one generator can power multiple cages)
2) Build a beta wave emitter (must be powered by it's own personal generator and you must have the charisma tree perks Animal Friend and Wasteland Whisperer, Charisma 9 required)
3) Build a mattress in front of your cages
4) Make sure all your generators are activated and everything is up and running
5) Sleep for 24 hours and then check all your cages, if you have 5 or more that are closed (meaning they caught something) then turn off the generators attached to your cages (but not the one attached to the emitter!) and then voila achievement unlocked
-if you don't have at least 5 yet then just sleep in increment of 24 hours until you do.
A good place to go for molerat meat is Longneck Lukowski's Cannery. The location is in my video below.
For anyone going for this achievement, it is probably better to be practical and just go for 5 of the same creatures per settlement, because in all honesty I think it would save time. You probably want to not bother with dogs since more friendly ones come out than ones that qualify. You can travel between settlements, sleep, and see which settlement wins the race to 5.
A good reason for this is that they kill each other unless they are the same. It doesn't matter if you barrier them, they will kill each other(see my zoo story in a bit). A bonus is that if you make 5 of the same per settlement, your settlements will get extra defense out of it per creature afterwards instead of a pile of dead creatures.
Normal Dogs, cats, and Brahmin are the only ones the creatures do not attack. As some side notes, normal dogs and cats also produce happiness. Normal dogs produce defense as well but don't count for the achievement. Normal dogs also seem to recover health where a creature doesn't. You can also send dogs to other settlements like you can send people.
I got this achievement when sanctuary produced 5 radscorpions for me. I would have had it sooner but a bear killed one before it got killed. I also had 5 dogs, 3 cats, and 4 Brahmin at the same time. Note that if you make dogs at the same time, you mostly get friendly ones, but occasionally a weird dog or mongrel comes out of there, so be ready because those mean dogs will try to kill your creatures and potentially throw your progress off.
Also be aware that, as the little pop up box says when you first make a cage that raiders, gunners, and super mutants cannot be tamed, so they wouldn't count towards the achievement.
Trying to make a zoo:
I made this fancy cage with cement in between so they couldn't see each other, set the capture cages so they dropped in. Had grand plans of making a zoo and getting the achievement. Proudly had a rabid bear in one, a king mirelurk, a mutant dog. It wasn't even a minute to where they were no where to be found, then eventually I discovered a house full of animal bodies. The bear basically killed everything as I worked my way through making every cage. I ran the arena achievement and danse went all psycho on the bear when he was supposed to be fighting valentine, or else the bear would probably made it through the whole rotation other then the deathclaw.
Thunderdome:
I made a fancy cage where the raider would drop through a trap door onto a landmine or pressure plate attached to a spring trap and flame thrower. The seemed to work pretty good, they didn't live long enough to escape like things in the zoo did. This isn't really related, but still made some use out of capturing those raiders. Never did get a super mutant to appear in sanctuary cage.
Addendum: You do not have to have the gorilla cage to unlock the achievement.
Build 5 cages of one creature type.
- This is to avoid different creatures becoming hostile. They must be a non-domestic animal so avoid dogs, cats, gorillas. Pick a creature for whose build requirements you can make the easiest.)
Place a Beta Wave Emitter outside the 5 cages and then release them. The achievement will trigger upon successful pacification via the Beta Wave Emitter.
Note on cages: Cages need power and they remain locked while there is current. Power must be interrupted for them to unlock so it is recommended to build a switched pylon to facilitate this or you can just chain the cages together with wire and cut (store) the initial cable to simultaneously release the creatures.
Save up two level ups then save your game before spending them in Wasteland Whisperer and Animal Friend to build the machine to make animals docile.
Bear in mind, mole rays and mutant hounds WILL attack insects, but they’ll stay docile long enough for the Achievement to unlock then resume being docile.
GLITCHED
For this trophy you must have the 'Animal Friend' (requires 5 or higher Charisma) and 'Wasteland Whisperer' (requires 9 or higher Charisma) perks before you can build the Beta wave emitter, which renders caged animals docile once released (though this doesn't work on Humans or Super Mutants).
The easiest way to get this trophy is to head to a small and empty settlement. I chose Jamaica Plains and decided to set up shop in the abandoned car park. You can do this with any cage you want but I recommend the Insect Cage as the bait (Mole Rat Meat) is easy to get from the Choice Chops stall in the Diamond City Market so you won't spend too long searching the wasteland for supplies. Once there, build the following:
2 Small Generators
An Insect Cage
A Beta wave emitter
A Bed or a seat of some kind
Ensure that the cage and the Beta wave emitter each have a generator attached and are active, then sleep in the bed for 12 hours. Now repeat this until you wake up and see that the cage is closed with the word 'BUGS' (or your equivalent beast) showing on the door. Activate the generator attached to the cage to release your newly tamed creature into the world. Enter workshop mode and repair the cage, this will require an additional 1 of each material originally needed so make sure to stock up. Once repaired, repeat 4 times until you have 5 tame creatures in your settlement.
As mentioned earlier, this is best attempted in a small, empty settlement as other settlers may not take so kindly to your creatures even if they are tame. You must have 5 creatures alive at one time for this to work so if you have settlers that keep killing them, then you will be wasting your time. It is also important to only attempt this with one type of creature, as different types will fight amongst themselves regardless of how tame they are.
This trophy requires the following materials:
Steel x26
Cloth x5
Rubber x6
Gear x4
Copper x10
Ceramic x2
Aluminium x8
Crystal x4
Circuitry x3
Nuclear Material x5
Mole Rat Meat x8
NOTE: Domesticated animals like Cats and Dogs, don't work as this trophy requires you to tame wild creatures like Mutant Hounds, Radscorpions, Insects etc. Credit to rotoninja for this tip.
Glitch note: This trophy is very glitchy and may not pop after taming 5 creatures. If the trophy does glitch then do the following:
1: Load a save from before you attempted this trophy.
2: Build 5 Cages of any kind but they must be for animals since Humans and Super Mutants don't count.
3: Build a Medium or Large Generator and a power switch, now attach a cable from the generator to the switch then additional cables from that to each of the 5 Cages.
4: Build a Beta wave emitter and attach it directly to the Generator as you don't want it to lose power later on.
5: Wait until all 5 Cages are occupied.
6: Now walk up to the switch and deactivate it, which will then simultaneously cut the power to all 5 Cages and release the creatures within.
The trophy will pop seconds after all 5 creatures have been released from their cages then calmed by the Beta wave emitter.
No meu caso, optei por construir 5 jaulas de insetos, pois eram as mais baratas considerando os recursos que eu tinha. Cada jaula consome 10 de aço, 2 de cobre e 4 de carne de rato-toupeira.
After building one of any cage in a settlement, you will be given a prompt on how to capture wasteland animals via cages and how they can be tamed. Cages will only capture animals when they are properly powered via a generator. Once a cage is up and running, it will then have the chance to catch its specified creature when you're sleeping or away from your settlement for a prolonged period of time.
To start, head to a completely empty settlement (make sure there are no settlers and no defenses) and build a cage that would house a wild, dangerous animal such as a Mutant Hound, Insect, Mirelurk, Deathclaw, or Radscorpion. Now build a Beta Wave Emitter (please see the note below) next to the Cage and power both items with a generator. Take note doing this in an empty settlement isn't required, but it makes the process much easier/faster.
Next, build a bed right in front of the cage and sleep for 24 hours. When you awake, the cage will either be opened and closed. If opened, rest again for a full day. If closed, an animal has been captured so enter Workshop Mode and store the cable that runs from the generator to the cage in order to open the cage. The Emitter will automatically tame the captive, so don't worry about being defenseless. Now reattach a new cable from the generator to the cage, repair the cage (tap "A" on the cage in Workshop Mode) with the required materials, and rest again for 24 hours. Repeat this process until you have five tamed animals in this settlement.
NOTE: In order to build the Beta Wave Emitter, you will need Level 1 of the Animal Friend and Wasteland Whisperer perks in the Charisma skill tree. Thus, in order to get this achievement your Charisma skill must be at Level 9 (or higher).
- Large Generator
- Beta Wave Emitter
- Mole Rat Cage x5
- A bed
In any settlement we build cages with aggressive animals, 5 pieces. I had: deathclaw, swamper, yaogai, mutant dog and molerat. We place them in a circle, with the gates inward. We connect to one power line rack. We build 2 suppressors in a circle (to build you need the perk charisma 9 points, friend of animals 1 point and speaker of the wasteland 1 point.) then we connect them to the second power line so that there is always current. When all the cages are closed, the animals are caught, we pull the switch on the first power line on which the cages hang. The animals come out of the cages into a circle and begin to knead each other, there is no need to interfere with them, and we get the trophy in five seconds.
Have 1 beta wave emitter near the cells. (Or several. It is important that the animals are within the coverage radius.)
Turn off the energy of the cells so that the animals leave. In this case, the emitters should work. (Just connect them to a separate energy source.) Animals do not attack you. You get the achievement.
(Animals will fight another species. i.e. Deathclaw will attack the swampman, etc.)
- Animal Friend (level 1)
- Speaker of the Wasteland (level 1)
