How to unlock the Far From Home achievement in Fallout 4 - Definitive Guide

Prior requirements:
-Have DLC installed (obviously)
-have completed the Getting a Clue quest
Its worth noting that you need to have completed Getting a Clue in the main story before the Radio station will pop up. People who have just started may wonder how to trigger the radio station popping up otherwise, just saying
Short version:
-Listen to Valentine's Detective Agency Radio
-Travel to the Agency
-Dialogue
-Travel to the objective
-Pass speech check with the mother
-Open the safe in the boathouse and play the holotape (there is a key hidden in the picture frame on the desk nearby)
-Talk to the parents and agree to travel to Far Harbor
-Use the boat to arrive in Far Harbor

Note it might be possible to skip certain steps such as the speech check of the mother.

Detailed version:
When you start up the game after installing the DLC you'll get a quest with a prompt to listen to the radio station: Valentine's Detective Agency Radio
When activated your mission will update to go to the Valentine's Detectve in Diamond City.

After some dialogue you can accept a new mission to help out an old acquaintance of Valentine. When you arrive talk to both of the parents start searching for clues. The main clue for the next objective happens when you pass a speech check with the mother to discover that she frequented in the Boat House towards the east.

Inside the boathouse you can find a Safe with an Expert lock. If you don't have the skills or means to unlock it, look for a desk with a picture on it and examine the frame to get the key for the safe. You'll discover the holotape left by Kasumi. Make sure to play it by pressing cn_X rather than picking it up with cn_A otherwise you'll have to find it in your inventory under Misc to be able to listen to it.

Then return to the parents for some more Dialogue and you'll be able to use the boat. Do so and reach Far Harbor and conclude the first quest of the DLC, unlocking this achievement along the way.

Yep, the achievement isn't unlocking, any way to fix it?

As mentioned, it's possible for the achievement not to pop. Reload your save and restart the very first ride to Far Harbor.

Otherwise, create a new character, very easy difficulty, and go straight to Far Harbor. I recommend a few levels of endurance for Aqua Boy/Girl. This skips most, if not all threats along the way.

I've just completed the DLC and noticed that this trophy is missing. WTF? I've finished the DLC on about 20 different accounts and that never happened before.

Something is definitely wrong with the DLC. I just finished this mission and received an achievement from Contraptions Workshop. I'll try again tomorrow, maybe Xbox Live is having problems

This guide is for using console commands to quickly complete the DLC quest. You must own the DLC, this will not work if you don't.

Press the tilde key (the button to the left of your 1 key on your keyboard) to open the console command parser.

Type: setstage DLC03MQ01 500

The achievement will unlock right after.

NOTE: if this doesn't unlock, change the 500 to 1000 or a 3000.

Story-related, cannot be missed.

This quest sees you traveling to the Nakano Residence in the northeast of the Commonwealth and speaking with Kenji and his wife about their missing daughter. After speaking with them both, investigate the boathouse to find Kasumi's whereabouts and then speak with the parents once you have your intel. You're now free to hop on Kenji's boat and head out to Far Harbor to complete the quest.

NOTE: This quest will only be added to your journal after "Getting a Clue" from the base game's questline has been completed.

Story related, cannot be missed.

You will receive a quest called "Far From Home", which calls requires you to listen to the Valentine's Detective Agency Radio station. You must then go and speak to Ellie, Valentine's assistant about a new case, who will then tell you to go and talk to Kenji, which you will find out you need to find his daughter Kasumi. Once you complete your investigation, head off to Far Harbor and the trophy will pop when you pull up to the dock.

Maybe my game is just glitchy, but I’ll write it just in case. After talking with Valentine's secretary, teleport to the Salem Museum or somewhere near the upper right corner of the map, the desired house is located right on the shore in the very right corner.

I completed the entire Far Harbor dlc, I have already returned to the community, but this achievement was not open. I had to load a save where I hadn’t started the dlc yet, came to Valentine, then came to Kasumi’s parents, talked to them, and went to the island. And when he arrived, the achievement came up. I don’t know why it didn’t fall out right away, something must have gone wrong.
