How to unlock the Fix-Er-Upper achievement in Fallout 4 - Definitive Guide
Fix-Er-Upper
As soon as you enter the wasteland you can basically do this, there is no tutorial for how to build things but if you hold button you go into construct mode. Once in this mode you can go up to things and hit to gather materials.
Easiest way to get this is to build 100 Wooden Crates which are under the Furniture area, costs 3 wood to make 1 so essentially you will need 300 wood which is the easiest material to get.
Once you obtain enough materials just build 100 things and you will unlock this achievement.
This can take about 30 minutes to achievement which isn't that bad..

Don't know why this is getting so many negative votes. Just cut down loads of trees in Sanctuary and then create 100 wooden crates from the workshop menu. You'll find them under Furniture > Containers (scroll to the very far right). Once I had enough wood, it took me about 2 minutes to create 100. +1

Just a quick guide to those who have not touched Fallout 4 for a long time (Like me, who had a hard time to figure this out).
Using console commands (~) button.
coc qasmoke
There are some metal containers on top of the tables in front of you. Go to the ones labelled materials and press r and enter to take all. This are the materials needed to make workshop items
Enter God mode using:
tgm
Travel to this location
coc POIMCamp01
when you arrive use this to kill all enemies
kill all
then approach the workshop machine thing. This will let you enter workshop mode
Head to Misc items and then select Totems.
Totem is the smallest item i can find that you can build a lot of in a small area
Build 100 of these. Make sure you are within the green zone to be able to build
The quickest way to build these for me was walking backwards and spamming the enter button
Using console commands (~) button.

'head to misc items' - There is a misc item in every tab. Please be more specific on which one you are referring to

This solution assumes you know how to use the in-game console and that you have progressed past the opening of the game into Sanctuary (The first settlement area, after saving Preston Garvey the Minuteman, and his crew... this is the first 15 or 30 minutes of the game)
--1. Use the commands:
tgm
coc qasmoke
--2. After you load into the new area go to the chests/containers on the tables near the Computer Terminal labeled: Scrap and use Take All
--3. Use the command (which will teleport you):
coc POIMCamp01
--4. After loading in use the command:
killall
--5. Straight ahead in the red barn is a red workbench, activate it
--6. You should have a new menu up- now navigate to Decorations - then Miscellaneous -
---The first item in this list is Ashtray, place 100 of them in the area around you (for me was E on keyboard to place ) - you can try walking backwards and placing them to be efficient, as suggested by ArpyAndMoonie
6. Achievement popped shortly after placing the 100th item for me

Much better and more accurate solution than the other. Thank you

Workshop items are any items you build, in build mode, at your settlement. This trophy will come over time while going for Benevolent Leader but if you want it right away, then simply make a manual save and spam signs, wood posts etc. all over a settlement until the trophy unlocks. Once it unlocks, then reload the save you just made.
"Workshop Items" are things you create for your settlements. You can either rush this achievement by building lots of small wooden crates, or you can allow it to come naturally as you work on your settlements throughout the game.
If you don't get this when going for Benevolent Leader (20G) and the other few crafting achievements you have to do manually, you can just spam rugs or whatever the cheapest item is for you to get the rest of the way. You should have nearly unlimited resources if you ransacked the dev room with the "coc qasmoke" command.
Open console command
Modpcms “objects built” 100

Planting all kinds of plants also counts. So, if Khrushchev is dormant in you, then sow any and all fields of corn (it somehow happens that you come across it most often) and get a trophy.
