How to unlock the Animal Control achievement in Fallout 4 - Definitive Guide

No need to worry about this one as you will definitely get this through natural play progression. Nevertheless this includes; Deathclaws, Feral Ghouls, Super Mutants, Mirelurks, any other irradiated wildlife and anything not human (which presumably means that Synths are included here too).

[Taken from the official Fallout 4 companion guide]

As a tip, the streets of Boston city are teeming with ghouls and super mutants (as well as raiders) and you can check how many you have killed in the STATS section of your Pip-Boy.

Ahh that's shit man, still give it 72 hours for XBL to sync up and see what happens!

Says I have killed 325, but no achievement. Might be bugged.

It doesn't say "done...unlocking" and every other achievement is popping fine for me. It's ok if it's bugged, was going to start another play through eventually anyway.

Currently, Xbox Live is being really buggy with the synchronisation of achievements. Check the forums on here, it's happening to loads of people. Give it a few hours, eventually it should say Done! Unlocking...then it will pop after a few more hours. That's what happened to me at least for like 5 of my latest achievements. :)

Just an fyi and I'm sure this has been pointed out somewhere, but animals and synths are not included in this. The only thing that counts is whatever number is under the "creatures" section of the stats, as synths and animals have their own category.

Haha well there you go. Everything seems to be back to normal now regarding achievement unlocks which is good! Happy hunting :)

I had reached 330 without the achievement. Went back to an earlier save with 295 kills to climb again and then it popped. I suspect my companion, or maybe a quest character, got the final shot on my 300th kill the first time around and that stopped it from popping. Anyone who missed it should try reloading a pre-300 save.

Hmm, you were right. It did eventually unlock despite it not saying "Done unlocking." Similarly, I got the achievement for finding 100 locations, even though I have not found that many. Time stamp was a few days ago as well.

Creatures are considered non-human enemies so just kill 300 of them. I personally would try downtown Boston killing ghouls and super mutants. This should just pop while playing naturally

Killing creatures is an integral part of the Fallout experience. You will hit the 300 number in no time. For a comprehensive list of all of the creatures that count toward this achievement, check out the Fallout 4 Wiki. Provided below are some of the most common creatures you will encounter throughout the wasteland, although it is not a complete list.

  • Feral ghoul
  • Super mutant (all forms)
  • Mole rat
  • Mongrel
  • Bloodbug
  • Mirelurk (all forms)
  • Radroach

I would suggest only spawning 50 enemies at a time for this, any more than that and your computer will likely lag and cause the game to crash. Use the following commands:

  • "tgm" (god mode and unlimited ammo)
  • "player.additem 0021A53E" (equip the Big Boy weapon)
  • "player.placeatme 000758AD 50" (50 ghouls spawn)
  • Shoot the Big Boy into the ground at your feet to kill all the raiders, then repeat steps 1-3.

This trophy will naturally come over time. There are plenty of creatures to kill throughout the commonwealth, most of them being hostile. Ghouls, Super Mutants, Mirelurks and any mutated animal/bug counts towards this. Creatures are very common throughout the wasteland so you will definitely get this through natural progression. You can check your progress towards this by going to the "Stats" screen of your Pip-Boy and then going to the "Combat" option.

To make things quicker, you can walk along the shores and look for broods of crabs. Well, you don’t have to bother with the trophy.
