How to unlock the Taking Independence achievement in Fallout 4 - Definitive Guide

This is a quest that forms part of the Minutemen story arc. Once you've met Preston Garvey in Concord at the start of the game, he will move to Sanctuary after you help him. When you meet him there, he will give you quests to help out other settlements. Once you have completed enough of these, he will ask for help taking back The Castle. This begins Taking Independence quest.

You start by meeting Preston and several other Minutemen at The Castle and after a brief discussion, You'll need to clear out some mirelurk eggs, after which a giant Mirelurk Queen will attack you and the other Minutemen. I've found the best way is with a Fatman and a couple of mini nukes. After the queen is dead, take out the leftover eggs.
Once the eggs and queen are dealt with, you'll need to set up a radio transmitter and one large or two medium generators to power it, which require that you have the Science Perk.

Once the radio tower is built and hooked up to the generators, just talk to Preston, the quest will complete and the achievement is yours.

Quest Giver: Preston
Location: Sanctuary

After completing all three of Preston's settlement alliance quests, his next favor is for you to help the Minutemen retake the old Castle in the Commonwealth. It's a pretty short quest, but bring along your best companion and some heavy weaponry (Missile Launcher, Fat Man, etc.) in order to take out the Mirelurk Queen "boss" at the end.

Faction: Minutemen
Quest Giver: Preston Garvey
Location: Sanctuary

This quest takes place at the Castle. You need to clear out the Castle of all the Mirelurks here, there are quite a few so come prepared. Once they are all dead, a Mirelurk Queen will spawn in and is one of the toughest enemies in the game but luckily there is a Missile Launcher nearby that you can use on it. Once it's dead, build a Recruitment Radio Beacon and the quest will complete.

I had a problem completing the specified task and receiving the trophy. It seems like I’ve done everything, but the trophy doesn’t appear. I suffered for a day, then gave up and jumped to another place. And immediately a message appeared that everything was done. Come back))). So if you get stuck, don’t LEAVE this place, but JUMP TO another location. And all will be well)))
