How to unlock the The Way Life Should Be achievement in Fallout 4 - Definitive Guide

This achievement is missable!

After the five memory hacking sequences during the "Best Left Forgotten" quest, follow the new objective that leads you to the secret medical facility in the Vim! Pop Factory. After finding the "skull" in the facility, return to DiMA in Acadia and confront him with the truth you've uncovered from the facility.

You'll be presented with multiple options on how to deal with this situation: tell Far Harbor, ask DiMA to turn himself in, or keep DiMA's secret. All three paths lead to different outcomes for the end-game narrative, but they all eventually lead to the quest's completion, thus unlocking the achievement.

NOTE: This achievement is missable if you decide to fully complete the "Cleansing The Land" quest, which is triggered by recovering the Kill Switch Code or Nuclear Launch Key, prior to speaking with DiMA in Acadia.

This achievement can be missed if you go too far ahead with (optional) on Atom side quests. I no longer have this quest and have to go back a whole 24 hours of game time.

Update: After a few hours of trying to fix it, I noticed I hadn't finished the quest "Best Left Forgotten" before finishing "Cleansing the Land". I should be able to get the quest for this achievement now. Maybe make a note that this achievement is unobtainable if you complete "Cleansing the Land" first.

Word of advice; get rid of the top bit of the guide where you say "cannot be missed" while it obviously can be through certain steps. I just skimmed through the dlc achievement guides to see if any were missable and by just taking a quick glance at your guide and just reading the top saying "not missable" really tripped me up. Now, it is my own fault for not reading the entire guide, but it would be helpful to just write that the achievement is missable at the begining of guide instead of writing it at the very end of the guide, condradicting what you said in your first sentence. Thank you, great guide otherwise .

Sorry about that GameGod. I had forgotten to remove that first line after finding out the achievement was missable. I've edited the solution now.

Is there a hard save point where I can obtain all the achievements?

Definitely missable. Just completed the 5 memory missions, confronted DiMA, and the achievement did not unlock; however, the "Best Left Forgotten" quest was completed. Also noticed that using quicksave (not sure if "hard" saves will) did not provide me with usable time-stamp to reload, so once I complete the DLC, I will be playing it all again to unlock one achievement. Disappointed with these events and Bethesda's design issues.

Good call, RiantZ. I'm going to add that in now.

WickedDeath - I never had Teddy examine the skull and I didn't miss anything so you should be fine.

I think you misunderstand what "missable" means. It means it can be missed if you do things in the wrong order, which it definitely can.

Argh. I fucking haven't even done anything towards 'Clensing' and It's still bugged for me. I have done 'Visions in the Fog' though. This is ridiculous. Even cost me my 353 Achievement Streak. I'm upto 'obtain the nuclear Launch Key' for Cleansing the Land and the achievement won't unlock.

in case anyone's having trouble with Memory 5 of the simulation, I found this and it worked: When you spawn into DiMA’s Memory #5, grab up a few of the Code Blocks so that you can build a bridge toward the memory. Do so, and then start placing your Defense Constructs (all five is fine) within one or two tiles of the firewall. Eventually, these Defense Constructs will start to engage the drones that are nearby, and the drones will begin to fire back. If they hit the switch the firewall goes down.

Just so you know... you don't have to do any of the memory sequences after the first one -The new objective to go to Vim appeared for me after the first memory sequence, I exited out went to Vim and did it like that with one load without saving so I can go back and enjoy the playthrough. I think this is worth noting because it is faster than suggested!

I would suggest that the first stop after speaking to DiMA would be the Vima Vim! Plant.

I have not yet completed the quest and confronted him but I will add to this if/when it pops.

As soon as I had cleared the Vim! Plant, the quest started. This also helped me solve my peaceful solution problem for the main story as well as completing the achievement.

WickedDeath, if you completed cleansing the land, I believe you have missed the achievement. If you return to a save just after the 5 memories or before completing cleansing the land, you should be able to goto the Vim! Plant, get the required items and show them to DiMA and get the achievement. If this does not work, note the completed quests for Far Harbor and Children of Atom as one of those might also block this achievement besides cleansing the land.

I would consider this achievement a true neutral path as opposed to the 2 other optional endings. It comes before the good vs. evil quest branch and opens a new path of peace should you not want to annihilate one faction.

Biggdope, good guide! Not easy writing these on the fly. I would say I tore my hair out on the main Fallout 4 ending achievements, thanks to bugs and some hard to follow/conflicting guides, but I shave my head for that very reason.

One more note, following this route of true neutral will yield the cleansing the land without killing more than a few people.

Thanks for making this one easy!

MISSABLE

This quest is missable if you complete the quest "Cleansing the Land" before speaking to DiMA in Acadia.

During the quest "Best Left Forgotten" you will be tasked with doing memory hacking sequences and after the first one, you will have a new objective to uncover the secret medical facility. This will bring you to the Vim! Pop Factory. Once inside, it will give you the quest.

Once you find out the secret, there are three different choices you can make, which will help determine the outcome of the end game. You can tell Far Harbor, Confront DiMA and get him to turn himself in or keep his secret. Either choice you pick will resolve and complete the quest, netting you the trophy.

You need to get to the Vim plant before you make a choice between the French! Otherwise, the task simply will not appear later.
I had to load the old save and go through it again.
The task will appear automatically as soon as you arrive at the factory.

The hint above is incorrect.
After extracting 3 or 4 parts of the memory according to the quest “It’s better not to remember,” we interrupt the simulation and go to the Vim lemonade factory to look for the DiMA cache, the quest you need is activated as soon as you get to the factory.
We carry out a chain of actions and decide the fate of Acadia, upon completion they will give this trophy.

Version 1.06 - The game has been completed completely.

To get all the achievements from the add-on without downloads, complete the missions in the following order:
1 - go through all simulations
2 - collect all the parts of the Marines’ armor (you can skip it)
3 - go to the Vim soda factory, learn the secrets
4 - complete the quest Cleansing the Earth to the end
5 - we return to DiMA and complete the quest What life should be
6 - go to Kasumi and finish the addition
