How to unlock the A Solid Foundation achievement in Fallout 76 - Definitive Guide

For this achievement you need to reach the "Ally" status with the Settlers located in Foundation

I recommend doing this specific achievement and his counterpart for ally the Raiders in separate characters, since the best outcome of reputation is earned by completing the main mission with that faction.

There is 7 Reputation status with each Faction: Hostile, Cautious, Neutral, Cooperative, Friendly, Neighborly, Ally.

At this point you should be around the Friendly Status so you need to grind around 2 or 3 more levels

How obtain Reputation Points when I finish the main story?

Daily: Vital Equipment You should press the option to donate your reward to Foundation in exchange for a little more reputation. (Faction Daily's give you around 20 XP and 5XP extra if you donate the reward at the end of the mission)

Daily: Photo opportunity You need to photography The Raiders base then bring the photos to the Foundation NPC in exhange of some reputation. You get this daily by talking to Davenport located in the Overseer House. (This Daily gives you 2 points of XP)

Daily Missions related to factions resets every day at 7pm EST

From Friendly to Neighborly status you need around 318XP, doing the Faction Daily 12.8 times will provide you enough XP to rank up, then you need 720XP to reach Ally from Neighborly

There's also random encounters where Settlers or Raiders are fighting off a random group of enemies (including the rival faction, pick a side). If you help them fight off the enemies, you can talk to one of the NPCs and get some rep. This is technically repeatable and not on a daily timer. Best place to do this is Marigold Pavilion. Doing this encounters will grand you just 1XP point so it's completly optional.

At ONE experience per random encounter that grind must have been insane.

It have a problem that its easier to get raider rep than settler rep. I wish this was more balanced. Hopefully we'll get an event that will even this out.

I would add you can get foundation rep with a dialogue option with high charisma. When doing the crater daily on retirement plan by convincing the raider to go to foundation instead. Not much but couldn't hurt.

Just and FYI for those not seeing the dailies pop up, make sure you actually travel to the place before assuming it didn't give it to you. It took me a few days to figure that out. So, make sure you travel to the Crater and Foundation before quitting for the day and waiting for the next reset. Hope this helps.

The Foundation daily quest for rep is repeatable 5 times from 5:00-5:20 PM (PST)/8:00-8:20 PM (EST) each day. Complete the quest, leave the world, join another and you'll get the quest again. Be fast because you only get 5 attempts per day.

A Big Radroach you need to not skip his dialogue when turning in the quest, just let him say his bit. It's hard with the time crunch but I've gotten all my rep gains by letting him finish the dialogue.

My foundation daily is glitched but in a good way. Somehow the foundation “property” the Power Pack is stuck in my inventory. So every day when I go to start the quest it’s already done. The dialogue starts as “I see you have our property”. I have no clue how it happened. It’s been like this for a week now

@Mr MahHa Yes a new extension of the daily exploit has been found, I think it will be complicated to explain it in text beacuse you need to pick up an item in a specific location so here is the video. It's super easy to do and you can complete the achievement now in two days or so. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXmAs5LM5Z0

@Carbonitex You still have to grind daily challenges to make up for the rest of the xp, it's not enough to just do the quests and reach max rep. IIRC Siding completely with one faction through the whole questline will only put you at the 5th of 7 levels of rep.

By Bootybandit1#751 on 22 Apr 2021 09:30
Yes you can do both on a single character but it's faster to re-do the entire questline with another character and focus on one faction. (assuming you are gaining the rep as intended in the guide without using exploits to speed the whole process)

With the Pitt update, if you do the cooking daily and you know to manage to do the cooking without burning it (without the extra ingredient). If you give the food then to one of the representatives, you get a small increase in friendship with that faction.

There are random encounters where you can help a friendly NPC by giving them water or crafting material. There are also random encounters where you can tell the NPC to go to either Foundation or Crater.

No, it's possible to achieve max reputation with both factions. It just takes a bit longer to achieve max rep with the faction that you didn't choose during the storyline.

Arkham's comment is very useful people!
UK. That's 0100 GMT.
I found the method very temperamental though. Yesterday got me 4 attempts with only 3 giving me reputation whilst today I only had 3 attempts thanks to the years long loading times with only 1 attempt giving me reputation.
Regardless. More attempts and means more chance to get rep which means less time with this clogging up my hard drive. Thank you for your find Mr. Arkham!

These are doing my head in. I created a second character and ran through all of Foundations quest line and at the end I gave all my gold bullion to foundation. Still didn’t hit max level. In the guide above it states “ For this specific achievement, the best option is split the reward with your sided Faction, in this case The Foundation. This will grand you a huge amount of Reputation Points to reach max status.” Can anybody please confirm if splitting the gold will reach “max status” or not? As I’m considering making a new character again. Let me know, cheers!

'If you've just made it to Friendly, it's 9000 reputation points to Ally. The faction dailies when done optimally give 250 rep for settlers or 225 rep for raiders, with giving queen mirelurk meat to Blackeye at Ohio River Adventures making up the missing 25 raider rep.

The Photo Opportunity daily gives 75 rep when handing in the photos to the opposite faction.

So that's 325 rep per day or 28 days if you want to get max rep for just one faction, or 32 days if you alternate Photo Opportunity each day to get max rep with both factions.'

This is an unlimited settler rep glitch. The last one allowed for 20 mins to farm the quest unlimited and was patched after about 2 weeks. This one is unlimited without time constraint and you don't even need to run the actual quest, just find an item and server hop.

Do NOT skip dialogue, I tested this at the end after I had reached Ally status and server hopped, the quest was no longer there again, however I still had my item. So if you mess up accidentally you should be fine to just continue it the next day I'd guess. You do not need a specific item, just one of any of the items that Ward requests. You can farm XP, caps, and gold bullion in addition to settler rep. All in all, it took me ~35 mins to go from Neighborly to Ally. I was on pc though, so load times are much quicker. I'd think Xbox loads slightly slower, but not that much dramatically slower. I guess it also depends if you're on an X or not.

Hey Everyone I bring you.... another glitch (That I found on youtube obviously)!

The video does the best at explaining the glitch and locations. It is highly recommended you WATCH THE VIDEO. If you don't want to i'll try to explain this glitch and locations.

This glitch requires you to find one of the following items that Ward wants Before he asks. (Before the reset time 8PM EST):
Medical Scanner,
MultiScope (This has a habit of just randomly vanishing on players... just a warning),
Multi-Frequency Scanner,
Intrusion Module,
Water Cool Bone Saw,
Portable Power Pack,

Here are a few locations that have a very small chance to spawn these items (Everyone knows about this and LOTS of people are looking as well. So it might take you a while to find one of the items):

Down The Road By Seneca Rocks Visitor Center,
South of Camp Venture (In the grass by a tree and a large rocks),
These 2 locations spawn it the items the most!

Once you have one of the following items go to foundation and wait for the reset time (mentioned above). Then you will get the quest!

From here: fast travel to Foundation, Talk to ward, say "You're donating your reward to foundation" (For the most amount of rep), leave the server/quit to main menu, and final re-join another server, and Repeat till the quest/mission stops appearing.

Okay for this achievement I have a little circuit that I complete daily that get quite a bit of XP without much hassle
-First off I spawn in at Marigold Pavillion just SW of vault 76, there is a random Faction vs Faction encounter here where sometimes you will have to help out the Settlers(not always settlers that spawn)
- I then fast travel to Slocums Joe just SE of Vault 76 where there is another FvsF Encounter
- I then do W C Aeries’ Solution and fast travel to Flatwoods quite far South of Vault 76, this is very random and might not always spawn or be and XP encounter
- I then travel to the Overseers house and pick up the daily photograph mission from Davenport, making sure to pick The Crater as my “target”,I complete the two photos and then I head to Foundation
- Once here I head to speak to Ward and accept his Daily Vital Equipment mission, and while here I hand in the Photos to him choosing not to take the caps
-I then complete the Vital Equipment quest and hand it into Ward by selecting to Donate my reward to Foundation(IMPORTANT: You Must let him finish talking and not skip his dialogue for it to give you the Xp)
- I then do the route in reverse, first heading to Davenport to finish the Photograph daily mission, then to Flatwoods again, then to Slocums Joe and finally back to Marigold Pavillion, completing each of their respective Enounters should they have respawned
- I then log off for the day ready to repeat the next
-Theoretically you could jump servers and repeat the three Encounter spots over and over but I find this tedious and would rather do it day to day
-Good luck and thanks for your patience reading this

Just to point out I was having a hard time earning rep for Foundation and I kept thinking that I wasn't actually getting my rep xp like I was supposed to. Read this solution, saw the "IMPORTANT: LET WARD TALK" tip and tadaa. That solved my whole issue. Great guide. Thanks.

Faction rep works on a scoring system in Fallout 76 based on "Rep points". Certain actions award points, completing side quests, completing the Wastelanders story line, assisting the faction when out in the wasteland etc.

There are 7 tiers of reputation that can be acquired for each faction. For this achievement you need to reach the top tier of reputation with the Foundation. (Ally status)

The number of points required to reach Ally status is 12,000.

Tier 1: Hostile (-2000 points)
Tier 2: Cautious (-1000 points)
Tier 3: Neutral (0 points)
Tier 4: Cooperative (1000 points)
Tier 5: Friendly (3000 points)
Tier 6: Neighbourly (6000 points)
Tier 7: Ally (12000 points)

My suggestion when aiming for ally status would be to first complete the main story with the Foundation and split the gold with them in the final mission. This will land you in Friendly territory as cumulatively you will acquire around 4000 points of rep with the foundation for doing this. This will also net you the achievement;

Fallout 76A Golden FutureHaztronauttThe A Golden Future achievement in Fallout 76 worth 117 pointsComplete "All That Glitters"

From here you have 2 options;

Option 1: Grind daily quests and scouting for encounters.

You can gain reputation points for the following

- Daily: Vital Equipment - Complete the quest and either accept the reward (+200) or donate the reward to Foundation (+250)
- Daily: Retirement Plan - During the Raider quest, tell the former Raider to move to Foundation with a Charisma 8 check (+25)
- Daily: Photo Opportunity - Take the photos to Ward and decline the reward (+75)
- Encounter: Faction Vs Creature - Keep the Settlers alive (+10)
- Encounter: Faction Vs Faction - Do not fire upon the Settlers and keep them alive (+25)
- Encounter: Send people to the Foundation - Use charisma checks to send people to the Foundation

As you can see the majority of your remaining points will likely come from the "Vital Equipment" daily quest. Which may take upwards of around 32+ days if you were to complete this quest only, once per day. The daily quest takes roughly 5 mins so it wouldn't be too bad to just hop on each day to do this.

Option 2: Glitch for Daily: Vital Equipment

It is possible to perform a glitch to complete "Vital equipment" multiple times in a single session. It takes a little preparation and you must be careful in performing the steps to ensure it works as planned.

Here is a video I found on Youtube explaining how to perform the glitch:

In summary..
1. Find one of the Daily quest items spawned on the map and put the item in stash (I found the "Intrustion Module" over at Willard Corporate Housing as shown in the video.
2. Go to Foundation, get Daily: Vital Equipment from Ward
3. Remove item from stash, put item back in stash
4. Leave and join new world
5. Remove item from stash
6. Talk to Ward, selecting the bottom chat option for extra rep. DO NOT SKIP ANY DIALOGUE AS THIS FAILS THE GLITCH
7. Put item back in stash
Repeat steps 4 - 7"

If you’ve done all the other steps correctly for the exploit and another item appears in your inventory at some point while repeating step 4, ignore it and proceed as you would if it weren’t there.

I think this glitch got fixed. Followed the steps and after turning in the quest, the item disappeared and could place back in stash. Then the next day, found an item spawned on the ground and after fast travelling to place in a stash, the item was no longer in my inventory.

Likewise, doing the PC version and when doing the 6th step and talking to Ward it removes the item from my inventory. Thankfully if you sided with them in the story it's not a monumental grind.

Here's how I farmed the reputation for the Foundation
In less than 5 hours I was able to get approximately 20% of the Neighborly bar (last bar until Ally)

Preparation:
Make a dozen of each... Bulk Adhesive / Bulk Concrete / Bulk Steel / Bulk Wood
Carry 6 of each type of Chem
Carry plenty of Purified Water (for yourself and for giving away)
Carry plenty of food for yourself

The Grind:
1. Fast Travel into Flatwoods and turn around so you are looking at the lodge.

2. Go to the lodge and approach the Settler working on the 2nd floor (this will be your sugar daddy).
It's a good idea to wait until he is hammering or painting.
Interact with him to interrupt his actions.
Interact again right away to possibly trigger a dialog that will have him asking for help.

3. Run south down the street, turn left up the driveway before the bridge, then cut through the grass on the right side and continue down that road.
After the downed telephone pole, you'll see another Settler working on a house.
Approach the Settler and interact in the same way (this Settler is usually a dud and will just continue talking).

Repeat steps 2 and 3

Notes:
Some requests have 2 options (you can give either Bulk Concrete or Bulk Wood).
Keep track of your inventory and when you give out the last item of something, fast travel back to camp and resupply.

To compete this trophy you must maximize the reputation meter with the Settlers. This is separate from siding with the Settlers in their story arc, though the story arc will provide additional reputation towards this trophy. To enable this, you must first start the quest The New Arrivals, which requires Level 20. Follow the tangent quest the Overseer gives you, Here to Stay. Reaching the Settler’s camp activates their Daily mission and you can start earning reputation.

To maximize your reputation gain from the daily quests,

  • Daily: Vital Equipment – Always return the item for free
  • Daily: Photo Opportunity – Choose to photograph Crater, then give the pics to the Settlers for free.

See Friends in Low Places for more information, including how to start Photo Opportunity and details regarding the story arc missions.

The essence of getting the trophy was described in the tip for the Friends in Low Places trophy. Only the glitch works differently, according to a different principle.
The essence of the glitch: Find an item in two locations, put it in a box, move to the Support and take the quest, pick up the item and put it back, making sure that the task has moved one step forward. Exit to the menu and go back to the game. Pick up the item and turn in the quest by choosing the third option in the dialogue, because... there will be more reputation. After completing the quest, place the item on the street, having previously hidden it from prying eyes of other players, and exit to the menu. Then, return to the same server, pick up the item and turn in the quest. And then again, reset, exit, etc. On my own behalf, to return to the same server, it is better to go with a friend who will play online. And just click on it through the menu.

All of the above workarounds are now closed.
There remains only the honest path, it is not as long as you might think, but very tiring.
We do robbery quests with an emphasis on... Support. Since the Geologist glitch still works for raiders, their reputation is not so important.

We have 3 options for filling the strip:

1. Daily Talks: Important Equipment and Recipe for Success.
In the first: we carry out and give the reward to Opora. +250
In the second: we prepare a stew and feed the settler. +250 (this quest works weird, I was only able to complete it 2 times because it refused to start)

2. Event: Eviction Notice +250
Events are updated every 20 minutes, I changed the server and looked for what I needed. You can get 3 in an hour, or maybe 0 in 3 hours. There's always a chance that the event will fail if people don't show up or if someone (including you) doesn't fix the filter.

3. Last but not least. 2 locations: Chrysanthemum Pavilion and Slocum Joe. Both are located near Vault 76.
Gang “battles” appear in them. Settlers against monsters/raiders, raiders against the same set.
We see defending settlers, kill monsters +10 experience, kill raiders +25. Killing raiders does not affect their reputation.
We pay special attention to the settler who destroys the possums. You can get from it not +10, but +30-50. You need to kill 2-3 possums for the settler's aggro to fall off. Let's go and get some experience. We kill another opossum, approach, gain experience. Repeat until there are no more possums. We are changing the server.

Yes, +10-50 experience looks ridiculous, but you will get 250 for the event, and you still need to find it and complete it. I recommend combining. Look for the event for the first 10 minutes, and devote the second to these “battles”.
Filling the last two reputation bars (3000 and 6000 experience) took 4+ days.
