How to unlock the Friends in Low Places achievement in Fallout 76 - Definitive Guide
The glitch may bug out on you and or have some RNG with the raider as I had trouble twice with them. For example I couldn’t talk to them and killed them but it resulted in a lie towards Rocksy
Credit goes to DemonAsylum on YouTube!!!
This is a glitch to max out the Raider Reputation within The Crater and it is done through the Daily Mission: Retirement Plan.
*YOU CAN ONLY GET ONE DAILY QUEST A DAY AND MAY GET THE OTHER DAILY QUEST(Importance of Communication)*
You are tasked to talk to Rocksy about a Raider who left and must be killed.
After talking with Rocksy, you will want to confront the raider and choose the [ATTACK] option when speaking to the raider. After killing the raider, you will want to head back to The Crater to speak to Rocksy.
*PAY ATTENTION*
Talk to Rocksy and choose "Appalachia has a new corpse"-RIGHT AFTER YOU HIT THIS DIALOUGE, BACK OUT. you should receive Reputation points and the mission will not end. repeat the process over and over.
Steps simplified.
1. Get Retirement Plan Daily Mission/Quest(If given the other mission, complete it and wait until the next day.)
2. Talk to Rocksy about the Raider.
3. Confront the Raider and Attack.
4. Report back/talk to Rocksy.
5. "Appalachia has a new corpse"
6. Quickly back out of the conversation after saying the dialoug.
7. Repeat steps 4-6.
This is the fastest method as of April 24, 2020
Reputation Levels:
Neutral
Cooperative
Friendly
Neighbourly
Ally
EDIT:
1. When you hit neighbourly, you only need to reach Ally and you are done. No Reputation points are needed past Ally as Ally is the max point/peak.
2. RadioactiveSkin reported that other players may mess up the glitch so if you can get a private world off a friend, try that, otherwise hope that no one bothers your method.
3. If the raider is surrounded, try your best to clear the enemies first before the raider could potentially die, which you do not want! (Lie option will appear and will not allow the glitch to work!)
4. Switching servers may fix your issue if the bar is not increasing.
1. Get to level 20
2. see the overseer and complete every mission till you have to meet each faction leader (Paige(Foundation/Settlers) and Meg(Crater/Raiders)).
Go to Meg (Raider Leader) and follow the video:
This method has now been patched as of 4/28 :(
There are a few other ways:
OverSeer's robot has a daily photo challenge: Go see him everyday and choose the opposite faction you want rep for. EX: If you want Foundation REP choose raiders, take pictures and give it to the foundation guy.
Random Encounters (2 Spots, just server hop (leave the game to main menu, click play, adventure), and repeat till you find the faction you want the rep for!

There are 7 Reputation tiers: Hostile (only the raiders will start in this one), Cautious, Neutral, Cooperative, Friendly, Neighborly, Ally.
Reputation: It takes longer to gain rep the higher you are in the "Tier list"
Here is the amount of time it took (yes i timed myself and I hate myself for that).
Cautious: -> Neutral (30 Minutes)
Neutral -> Cooperative (45 Minutes - 1 Hour)
Cooperative -> Friendly (2.3 Hours)
Friendly -> Neighborly (3.1 Hours)
Neighborly -> Ally (3.8 HOURS!)
This is if you quickly spam "A" and "B" at the right time without messing up.
That's pretty much it, I gave you guys a glitch for raiders (Personal Ammo producer is unlocked at ally and can help you out with foundations quests), and a video describing 2 locations to grind, and some tips.
I hope all of this helps! Good luck and happy grinding cause I HATE myself for getting this achievement.
So you have completed all missions for both factions up to the story-line choice and then all the remainder after, it should leave you with one at friendly and one neutral.
Rep ranks you will need to pass through:
Neutral
Cooperative
Friendly
Neighbourly
Ally
To raise your reputation higher you now need to start the slow climb using dailies and random events.
Craters dailies (only one of the 2 given each day):
Retirement plan given by Rocksy has you tracking down a raider deserter with the optional objective of finding the hunters already tracking them down first. If you have high strength i advise taking the time to do the optional task as convincing them to raid the settlers can provide extra rep. No matter if you chose to find the hunters or not the remaining steps are the same. Go find the deserter either convince them to return or kill them (that is if they are still alive).
Importance of communication given by Wren has you going to a random area to pick up 3 vacuum tubes. Once collected you need to head to a repair bench to fix them up and simply hand them back in.
You can also hand in Mirelurk queen meet at Ohio river adventures after completing a small mission to defend the place.
Other than that its currently just a case of wondering around siding with raiders at any random event you stumble across.
For those choosing to do just one of the faction but are not sure which, choosing Crater allows purchase of the following from their gold bar vendor.
Gauss Minigun (ally rank)
Ammo Refab tool (ally rank)
Compound Bow (ally rank)
Dynamite
Backpack mods
Floater grenades
If anyone has any more ways they have discovered please feel free to leave in the comments and ill update on here. Any down voters also please leave a comment on what i can improve.
Thankyou for the following update:
LostGames - Update 2: it looks like once you reach friendly, and neighbourly it's 2x's the amount of rep....
I never noticed how much the bar moves on the queen or davenport ones, so the above might be half.

To reach the Ally rank with one of the two factions in Wastelanders, you will need to complete quests for them and do daily missions. You can do a minimum of three story-related quests with each faction before a forced choice to side with one or the other. This decision will not bar you from earning more reputation with the faction you didn't choose, but it will limit the gains to only the daily missions which is extremely low. The faction you choose to side with will have three additional story quests and a chance at the very end of the Wastelanders questline to get a big reputation boost by splitting the reward.
The best way to get the most out of this with one character would be to do all three story quests for both sides prior to the "point of no return" choice, pick a side and finish their story, then split the reward at the end. This will put you close to finishing the Ally rank with one side, and as far as you can go with the other. However, it's worth pointing out that you need to start a second character for the mutually-exclusive story-related achievements, so you can also ignore the pre-choice quests and just go all the way with one faction on your main character and all the way with the other faction on your alternate that you use for the other side. Then do the daily missions with both of your characters, obviously focusing on whichever faction you chose for each.
For the daily missions, these will reset at 8pm EST every night, and you can get one of two random quests from the Raiders: Retirement Plan and The Importance of Communication. One every day from the Settlers: Vital Equipment. And finally one neutral quest from The Overseer's helper Davenport that can reward rep for either faction depending on how you end it: Photo Opportunity. Remember to always donate your reward to the faction for additional reputation. There are also ambient encounters out in Appalachia that you could come across, but the rep for these are extremely low and it's not really worth the time to seek them out.
To compete this trophy you must maximize the reputation meter with the Raiders. This is separate from siding with the Raiders in their story arc, though the story arc will provide additional reputation towards this trophy. To enable this, you must first start the quest The New Arrivals, which requires level 20. Follow the tangent quest the Overseer gives you, Strange Bedfellows. Eventually getting to the Raider Camp will introduce you to their two Daily missions and start earning reputation.
The other daily source of reputation is the mission Daily: Photo Opportunity. After you complete The New Arrivals, talk to Davenport, the Handy-bot who hangs out in the Overseer's basement. He asks you to use the in-game camera (not photo mode) to take pictures. If you don't yet have a camera, he enables a task Find a Camera under Side Quests/Miscellaneous – go pick up the camera, repair it at any tinker's workbench (there's on in the Overseer’s garage) and craft some film, then talk to him again. Notice that the camera HUD will tell you what you're focusing on in the upper-right so you can be sure you’re looking at the subject that completes the quest.
To maximize your reputation gain from the daily quests,
- Daily: The Importance of Communication - Always give the items to Wren for free.
- Daily: Retirement Plan - kill the former raider and tell Rocksy that "Appalachia has a new corpse". You can ignore the optional objectives, they don't boost the reputation gain.
- Daily: Photo Opportunity - Choose to photograph Foundation, then give the pics to the Raiders for free.
If you are going for both faction alliance trophies, the fastest plan is to split the effort over the two characters who ran the story arcs. Each one takes advantage of the reputation from their exclusive story quests and it lets you use Davenport's mission more often.
At the end of the faction story arc, the mission Secrets Revealed lets you choose one of the following:
- Split the treasure 50/50 - This gives the most reputation for the faction you sided with. This is the best choice from a perspective of just focusing on this trophy.
- Split the treasure but the other faction gets some too - This gives only a little reputation for the faction you sided with and a large amount with the other faction. This is slightly better total reputation if you decide to ally with both factions on a single character but otherwise not an efficient choice.
- Keep all the treasure - This reduces your reputation with the faction you sided with, needing about 5 more repetitions of the daily quests to make that up. However, the sacrifice is worth it if you have any interest in saving up bullion for the new vendors, you can earn back that reputation much faster than those daily quests produce bullion.
To see your progress, go: => press for the Social menu => Press to highlight the factions. Depending on how much you maximize the reputation bonuses you could need over 30 repetitions of the daily quests to fill the meter to Ally level. Note that the quest completion provides more caps than the cost of fast travelling to the quest objectives so you won't go broke if you want to run these as quick as possible.

At the time of writing this tip, there is a reputation glitch running.
The essence of the glitch is that you need to take the quest from Geologist Crater, find the raider, attack him through dialogue and kill him. Then return to the camp and when completing the quest, choosing the second dialogue option, exit the dialogue. Those. Click on the second item and as soon as the prompt about reputation growth appears, immediately click “leave”. Video guide (en).
If this glitch is fixed, then there are two options left: look for new working bugs or go through the motions for a very, very long time...
