How to unlock the Moneybags achievement in Fallout 76 - Definitive Guide
My favorite route to sell my items is going clockwise around the map from Flatwoods, to Sunnytop Station, down to Watoga Station, to the Watoga Shopping Plaza, and then back over towards the Whitespring Station, then to the Enclave Bunker. You cover all major factions that way. Make sure to hit up Graham if you spot his caravan.
Welcome to A Big Radroach's Big Ol' Guide to Cap Collecting!
I've played 76 almost every day for a hour at least through the month (26/02 - 26/03) and have been updating my Shwag Solution respectively. Although it could be helpful for a week/month. Maybe several months. The needs of players will change and this Solution may be rendered useless over time. So do check out the other Solutions for a more efficient method.
Anyways. Andiamo!
Making money in game tends to be tough. The Vendors only hold 200 Caps and regenerate Caps every couple of days but hopefully with the updates coming soon. You'll be able to set up shops in your CAMP for passing players to buy and browse. We can all hope at least.
For now though, your best bet is either Events or selling items in Looking For Groups.
I'm going to break down these sections so you can skim over to the one you're most interested in. They start with product pricing, locations to obtain, perks recommended if applicable then additional notes.
Looking for Groups:
Feel free to skip over which section you're interested in
1: Selling Chems/Aid
2: Selling Junk
3: Selling Ammo and Weapons
4: Events
5: Vital Time Saving Notes For Trading
6: Services (Untested)
Section 1: Chems
Pricing per Unit:
RadAway 5c. Diluted 2c
Stimpaks 7c. Diluted 4c
Buffout/Psycho/Med-X etc 4-5c
Rad-X (Sell to Vendors)
Disease Cures - Negotiable
Stealth Boys 10-15c
Purified Water 2c
It's a stressful process and a tedious one at best. Though I made the majority of my Caps selling Stimpaks and RadAways.
I find quite commonly amongst the Ghouls at Whitespring Golf Course whilst grinding for XP and usually pick up some Caps, Weapons and Armours from the bodies as a bonus.
- Ghoulish: Radiation regenerates health.
- Sun Kissed: Slowly regenerate health between 6am to 6pm
- I also wore Regeneration armours I would find too which would heal me if out of combat.
Both Perks found in the Endurance tree. These three things alone eliminated the need for Stims and RadAways 90% of the time.
I had my CAMP nearby to the East by the train track. At Whitespring Golf Course. It's usually just out of the blast radius of any nukes that regularly get launched on Whitespring and set myself either collecting these items usually finding better gear too. Leave the Server than just reload for more enemies. Leave the area back to CAMP when you need to repair or offload the Chems/Junk/Weapons.
All Chems can be sold to Vendors and you do get more Caps from Vendors. They are just limited to 200 Caps so I'd only offload my Chem's that I know wouldn't/Couldn't sell. Stockpile the rest in the Stash for a few days later. Then I'd make a run for my next big seller which you'll see just below in Junk
Section 2: Junk
Pricing per Unit:
Aluminium 3c
Adhesive 4c
Nuclear Waste 2-3c
Springs 3c
Screws 4c
Aluminium, Adhesive and Gears - Fort Defiance
Grabbing just about every Surgical Tray, Tv Dinner Tray, Microscope, Typewriter, Duct Tape, Wonderglue.
It's a big ol' run and will take about 20 minutes a go. The fort itself is inhabited by Ghouls and a Wendigo, so there's a lot of XP to be found too. Search every floor, every room, every drawer and every body. You'll gain a few Chems too and not to mention various ammo types, Caps from the Ghouls.
You can leave with about 70-90 Aluminium, 30+ Adhesive and around 15+ Gears.
Simply step outside after. Leave Server and look for another world. Fort Defiance is such a hit and miss location though. Sometimes I'll get 3 perfect runs in a row. Sometimes I'll have a completely cleaned out Fort several times.
Also. Keep a eye out for Nurse Uniforms of coloured variety. The hats are usually laying around but the Uniforms are rare.
I've seen people try to sell them for 10k+ a go. (I'm sure no one buys them) but remember: if it's rare. Someone will want it.
Springs and Screws - Whitespring Gold Course
You're not going to enjoy hearing the word "Wendigo" but that's exactly what you need. They'll drop around 6 Screws most times, sometimes Springs and usually Nuclear Waste too though to farm Nuclear Waste. Your best bet is Nuke Zones and collected from any Glowing variant (again. Usually Whitespring Golf Course is the Nuke Zone)
Back on track. Kill the horde. Grab the Screws. Store at the CAMP. Fast Travel back. Leave and find another Server to repeat.
Extra Screws - National Radio Research Centre, National Astronomy Research Centre, Sugar Grove
This particular route from YouTuber Chris Peel take some time but all items: Desk Fans, Antique Globes, Typewriters are plentiful and mostly in plain sight in the 3 locations.
Practiced this a few times myself and a good amount of XP is earned from fighting whilst grinding. I got about 70 Screws in my best run. Sugar Grove itself is usually the pain but another player is usually there before you on a quest so it's mostly a grab and run job.
Here's Chris's video:
Screws, Gears, Springs, Aluminium - Charleston Herald, Charleston Capitol Building, National Radio Research Centre, National Astronomy Research Centre, Sugar Grove, Abandon Bog Town
Huge thank you to YouTuber FreakEasy for this route and the video will explain it better, do give him a like and a follow
This route is a lot longer and will cost more Caps to gain Junk but over time, your ROI should become greater if this is your main source of income.
Aluminium, Adhesive, Springs and Screws are all things I came across in need commonly. I'd run out of the item needed first, but a tag on it so if it had the items I was looking for, the magnifying glass would just let me know it's worth picking up. All Junk is worthwhile grabbing and stashing. I've seen people request items like Lead and Plastic on LFG but times change and I wouldn't worry so much about the minor items but take note weekly of what you commonly see sought after!
The general guideline for selling scrap is dangerous. I like to sell the items based on their availability. For example. Wood would be anywhere between 2-5 unit per Cap whilst Aluminium sells between 3-5. You ultimately decide how much these items are worth and you can haggle with the players. Though I've found players will be greedy as soon as you admit you don't know it's worth. Legit had a guy try and swindle Aluminium 2 units per Cap before. Most items I'll say are a Cap per Unit minimum.
Now there's nothing wrong with helping out your fellow players. It's nice to see a community that'll be more helpful than just take, take, take.
Section 3: Ammo and Weapons
Pricing Per Unit:
Shotgun Shells 1c
5.56mm 1c
Fusion Cores 5-20c
ALL ammo is up for sale and the general guideline is 1:1 or 2:1 depending on the Ammo type but Shells and 5.56mm are the most sought for.
You play your character how you want but I always find myself with Shells to sell. Often found on Scorched and Mole Miners. Lower level areas I'll use a melee weapon whilst higher levels I'll try and keep range with a .45 or .308 rifle rounds.
Mid tier levels I'll use something like a auto 10mm.
Just to rotate ammo types and keep the levels of availability consistent.
Always store whatever ammo you're not using (minus .38) you can sell or use on a later date.
.38, .45, 5mm, Grenade variants and Missiles are all ammo's that if you don't use. You can probably afford to just toss them away. As they're often posted on LFG by bulk of 1000's but I doubt ever bought.
Explosives in particular take up hefty room in the Stash and if not going to be used by yourself. Are just taking up unnecessary space. You've very rarely see a Mini- Nuke request too.
There is no harm in making a post to sell all your excess Ammo's. Ex: 2432 .38 for 50c
Someone could be interested in it and it's still 50c in your pocket.
Fusion Cores, I've seen some people sell them for 5c (myself) and others going up to 50c.
This is personal preference. I'm not a huge Power Armour user myself so I'll keep one core on the Suit and 2 in my Stash. They hold little value to me but may hold higher value to you. 10c for a 100% core I believe is completely acceptable and a great deal on them but the price is ultimately yours.
As for Weapons. In general. They're useless to sell. Unless you manage to find specific Legendary 3* weapons.
The majority of people want "Explosive" Handmade, Pump Shotgun, Gatling Gun and 10mm are frequently requested.
"Bloodied" Weapons are also sought after.
Often these Weapons are posted for 1-10k Caps although I doubt anyone actually buys any of these Weapons for more than 2.5k.
Section 4: Events
Events are the most risky of the bunch because you're guaranteed XP but Caps are a potential reward. It's never 100%
I personally found them to be the most fun out of all the options since Rewards are random and even if you do get Caps, you get a bunch of stuff you can sell or sustain yourself for a while longer.
But I'd set CAMP up near somewhere you like to patrol and with Events or in a area you like.
I personally chose East of Whitespring Golf Course again so I could grind the Ghouls mentioned in Section 2: Junk. And the Events spawning nearby would be for me Uranium Fever: Blackwater Mine.
(Brilliant location to grab some Bobbleheads, Aluminium, Springs, XP, Shotgun Shells and a few loose Caps by the way)
The Messenger: Blackwater Mine (since they'd usually pass by there anyways for me to conveniently just tag along)
I also found Enclave Events: Bots on Parade in particular to be lucrative, fast spawning and easy Events to complete.
(You'll also see the odd person here and there looking to complete the Enclave Quest linked to the Events on LFG so team up, fast travel to them and lead a hand! They'll be grateful for the help and you have someone actively looking out for the Events for you. Win win)
My runs to Fort Defiance, also mentioned in Section 2: Junk would often have Line In The Sand Event which would rack up over 2000XP easily if you killed both Scorchbeasts and hit the Scorched.
Again, Caps are up for grabs from the Scorched but the AA Missile Launcher makes easy work of most enemies in the area if you have the Scrap to spare repairing it.
If you plan on staying in one Server. I'd also recommend jumping on any Workshop Defence Events you see. The person Defending the location will be grateful to see a friendly face and you do reap rewards from the Event. Offer to Team up after so you have another location/s and a person/s to fast travel to for free and if they disconnect or leave. Their workshop becomes yours. More opportunity to sell Junk and you get a Defence Event around every hour per Workshop
Section 5: Trading
Trading should be straight forward but it's not always as easy as it looks. Why pay for 1000+ Scrap when you can kill them and take it for free? It happens.
Avoid this by turning on Pacifist Mode on through the Settings on the Menu by pressing Start then LB.
You'll take next to no damage from players until you attack them.
Popular meeting points are Vault 76. It's not the worst spots but I'll always invite to join Team as soon as you're in their Server or they're in yours.
They won't be able to do any damage to you and you to them. Plus you'll most likely see anyone else with them who are there to potentially ambush you.
- Always have your weapon holstered. It's a sign of good nature and the accidental ready of a weapon is usually when the bullets start flying.
- (Optional) Hello Emote usually starts things off on a friendlier basis and a Love emote after business is done.
- I'd still recommend dealing at your CAMP when it comes to Junk. Stand next to your Stash incase the bullets fly. Protect your work people! Stray bullets will count as a attack on your CAMP and boom. They're Wanted for anyone to take advantage to kill. A sweet revenge they never saw coming.
Section 6: Services
Now in this section, they're all untested by myself although I've met and spoke to players who have made money relatively easy using these two Methods.
Serum Making:
Mutations are often held within most players and there are specific mutations people like to keep.
I accidentally caught a Health Regen at 300% which was pretty awesome!
Anyways. For those unfamiliar with Serums. They offer a Positive and a Negative effect to the Player. Serums boost the positive and reduce the negative for a limited amount of time and once the Recipes obtained. Setting up shop can begin.
You see only a handful of players selling on LFG but I cannot confirm the demand for them. The Serums themselves go for between 50-500c a piece but usually hover around 150-350c.
Power Armour Maker/Painter:
A simple one but once having several Paint plans obtained. You can repair or paint peoples Power Armours for a price.
It sounds a bit risky to give your Power Armour to a stranger although it makes them money.
Usually Excavator Armour, Ultracite Armour and the XO-1 Armours are sought after and the paint jobs vary. Even having one will usually have someone wanting it done. Put up a post on LFG with the paints you have available and your price to paint them.
Paints range from 100-250c
Repairs/Creation Pricing: variable
Does money from selling items from your camp count towards the achievement?
Whenever you sign in, you should always join a public group. You do NOT have to be around that group. It just offers a lot of benefits.
On a cap level, each time a member of your group completes a quest, you will be given between 10 and 30 caps. This adds up over time. 3 other people in a group can easily give 200 to 300 caps per session.
Quests offer a substantial sum of caps now.
I find one of the quickest ways to make money is to bulk up my excess junk at the Tinker's Bench. You can then head to the vendor and sell as much as you can off each day (i.e. up to the daily cap)
I can also confirm that the new season mode counts as caps earned. In the 1st season, you can earn around 3,000 caps within a matter of days. I assume that this is going to be the same with other seasons going forward!
This trophy is a bit misleading. You don't need to possess 10,000 caps at one time you simply need to obtain a total of 10,000. You can do this buy looting cap stashes and also by selling items to the vendors around Appalachia.
Note that Vendors only have 200 caps to sell per day. There are many vendor locations but the 200 caps cap is set per faction. There are seven factions so you could sell a total of 1400 caps worth of loot daily.
The locations of each vendor and their faction are below on the map. Thank you dulfy.net for compiling this map.
It is worth noting, that items sold in your personal vendor at your C.A.M.P and transferring caps between friends do NOT count towards this total. It has to be earned from events, through the games vendors, mission rewards and the season board unlocks.
The easiest way I found was to work through the station vendors and sell as much to deplete the daily vendor wallet. About 1,000 caps a day.
I would do Uranium Fever, take all the meat and weapons, cook all the glowing meat at WhiteSprings station and sell the cooked meat to the vendor and store any extra in stash for the following day.
Jumping through events on the map, will also net you a couple hundred caps a time so it's best to stick to the popular ones like Uranium, Scorched Queen, Daily Ops etc.
Caps in this game are much harder to come by than in the single-player games. Selling items will only net you a few caps where a similar item in the SP games might get you a few hundred. Likewise, you'll find only small sums of caps in containers and on dead enemies. However, the description on this is a little misleading and the achievement is actually cumulative, so don't hoard your caps thinking you need 10k at once. You will unlock this over time.
The second method, you can install CAMP and purification stations near the river; they produce “Purified Water” quite quickly, and are also suitable for sale. You might be lucky and find both options in one place.
