How to unlock the Scorched Earth achievement in Fallout 76 - Definitive Guide
NOTE: at the time of writing this the achievement is bugged and does NOT unlock.
At this point, the main issue is getting enough people to help with the queen. Or at least that’s what I thought would be the issue because that’s what everyone is saying. I have been server hopping a bit for exp, and each time I check the silos on the map to see if it looks like other players are prepping to lunch a nuke. Last night I messaged a couple guys at a silo to check if they were going to launch at the fissure prime site, and sure enough they were. I ported to that silo and helped them finish it. This is a good idea to help with because they can be a pain! As soon as prep finished in the last room I quickly messaging every player on the map (click on their white dot and send message) who was over lvl 40 “queen help” and over 10 players showed up! TBH this game has so little going for it I think high lvl players are bored and if you spawn a queen you are giving them something to do. And low level players make for more targets to distract the queen.
Other notes:
-2-3 other regular scorchbeasts appeared for us. I was told this is normal.
-Bring multiple weapons. You will be dispensing so much damage your weapons will break during the fight. I was down to my 3rd melee weapon before the end. I used blade of Bassett, black diamond and the Gracknock axe
-the queen is a “legendary” creature, meaning her health will regenerate after it goes down 50%. So expect to need to take her full health down 1.5x.
-the achievement DID pop for everyone who still didn’t have it. Although it popped for me a little later than I would have expected.
-the game did not freeze for anyone. I think the servers are a bit more stable now.
-I was a lvl 83 with a 1 handed melee build. But there’s no way of knowing how much damage individual players did.
Type: Misc Event (repeatable)
Recommended Character level: 50+
The Scorched Earth event is going to the hardest event you encounter in Fallout 76. There are many ways to go about this but I'll offer two options. The first is to activate the quest on your own and hope that you either have a team that you play regularly with or that randoms come to help. The other is to simply wait til someone else has triggered the event and jump in, hoping they brought enough man power to finish it.
This quest will bring about the largest boss in the game as well as have you deal with many smaller bosses and enemies. It is not going to be possible to do solo.
See spoiler for details on starting event on your own:
You'll need to launch a Nuke into the Cranberry Bog, specifically at Fissure Site Prime. See I am Become Death for how to launch a Nuke.
Once you've done this head to the area highly prepared because this Nuke will awaken the Scorch Beast Queen and this is who you need to kill within the time limit. This is impossible solo. You will need a team of others who are also level 50+ or hope that enough randoms come along and help you out.
See spoiler for details on how to jump into someone else's event:
Another option is to wait until you see that someone else has nuked Fissure Site Prime and head there. There's a high probability that a team is already there taking this on and you can simply jump into the action. This is how I earned my trophy and I was only level 23. I headed into the chaos and just got a few shots into the queen and did my best to stay alive. Once the team killed her the trophy popped. Just make sure if you die that you head directly back there so they don't kill her while you aren't in the location.
Your best bet to get this is to join the event after someone else launches a nuke, but if you want to launch it yourself, see I Am Become Death (50G) for more info on that process.
Scorched Earth is an event triggered in the game by someone launching a nuke at Fissure Site Prime. This will spawn a Scorchbeast Queen which must be killed to complete the event. So long as you are in the area and land a few shots on the enemy, you should get the achievement even if you didn't do much in the way of helping. I personally did this at Level 8 and hid in a bunker nearby and still got it. You should be at a high level (the enemy is Level 95) and expect to go through a TON of ammo and healing items if you participate in the fight properly. You should also have good power armor or a radiation suit to survive the radiation and a few high-level weapons since you will likely run out of ammo for a few and/or have your weapons break during the fight.
Your best bet to get this is to join the event after someone else launches a nuke, but if you want to launch it yourself, see "I Am Become Death" for more info on that process.
It is recommended to go in a group of at least 7-8 people, at least that's how I completed the quest
this event, moved to his zone and while high-level players were destroying the burn beasts, he rushed around, because one or two hits = SMEEERT The method is a little ratty (the boys die, and you rush around the edge), but it won’t work any other way at small levels!
