How to unlock the Assemble Your Crew achievement in Fallout: New Vegas - Definitive Guide

Don't worry about trying to get this achievement because you can't miss it. It is the storyline of this DLC.

You will be given a mission at the very beginning of the this DLC and the mission is to recruit these 3 people. The mission its self is straight forward and there is a way point for each of them so finding them is easy.

Once u find each one talk to them and do as they ask and they will then follow you. Once they agree to follow you just tell them to go back to the fountain. When you recruit the last one the achievement pops,

While you are doing this you can collect the 500 chips u need for another achievement in this DLC. The chips are everywhere. As you are looking for each of the people check every fountain you see ( the fountains don't have any water running, they are just on the sides of buildings ) and go into the buildings on the way to check any filling cabinets and cash registers ( those are the 2 places i found held the most ) Also pick up any cigarettes you find as these can be traded at the vending machines for chips. You'll soon be at 500 chips. I found 500 just as i was recruiting the 3rd person.

if u are going to give me a negative vote please tell me why so i can improve the solution

fair enough. i know this isn't the most in depth solution but i just wanted to let people know that this achievement couldn't be missed and that all you need to know to do it is given to you in the game without giving the story line away.

What is the name of the quest that starts this DLC? I'm just starting the game with the DLC installed and don't want to accidentally stumble into this before I am ready.

That is some basic info that really should be included in this guide anyway.

No it doesn't since You can't just stumble into a DLC quest. To start any DLC you need to go to where ever the radio is sending you and then travel some where else but before you travel the game ask's if you are sure and tells you which DLC it is.

Perhaps if you added something of a walkthrough to the solution? It's not as easy as just walking to each waypoint; there are traps and enemies and poison clouds in between. And the bulk of your solution is actually a tip for another achievement!

If like me you're playing the game with all the DLC installed, then you'll need to know the quest for starting the Dead Money DLC (leading to this story based achievement) is "Sierra Madre Grand Opening!".

Pick that quest, then follow the map to the Abandoned BoS Bunker, head into the Bunker, go down the stairs read the disclaimer then select 'Seek out the radio signal in the Bunker" to start the DLC.

This achievement will unlock after completing the 3 quests at the beginning of the DLC:

Find Collar 8: "Dog"
Find Collar 12: "Christine"
Find Collar 14: "Dean Domino"

I posted this to x360a.org as well. This achievement glitched for me pretty bad. I was able to get it fixed by using the following solution:

OK all here is the deal; this game is glitched...bad. The update that was sent out locks the access to the bunker. You will have two options to get into the bunker:

1. Delete the update and restart your game. Play offline until you access the DLC. Save at any point after you enter the bunker, log back into live and accept the update.

2. Delete the update and reload a save (if you have one) from before the update.

With the update you will not be able to access the DLC. Without the update you will get stuck at the fountain and Elijah will keep yelling at you telling you to get all three people there.

I tried three different restarts without the update. The first one I ended up having Dog follow me for the other two. I could not get him to stop following me because it would not give me the option to talk to him. Tried switching back and forth between his alter egos and it still wouldn't work.

Reloaded the save before I entered the DLC (still no update). Tried all three in the same order - the difference being I sent all three to the fountain without me and did not use their help. Same result - could not activate the fountain.

Reloaded the save before again and picked the people in a different order still sending them to the fountain. Same issue.

My final attempt before giving up I logged into live and accepted the update. I reloaded the save before I freed Dog. Since I had the save I was able to enter the DLC. I freed Dog and sent him to the fountain. Christine was already there, as I passed on the way to the final helper the two of them were having a conversation (interesting since she can't talk). That had not happened on any of the prior attempts. After collecting the third helper - I sent him to the fountain without me just in case. When I got back to the fountain I was able to trigger the next steps with no trouble. To be fair though I have not finished it yet. When I do I'll post if I find any other issues.

If you do have to restart the game make sure you play offline and use the level up glitch at Helios One. Make sure you pick light step somewhere along the line. If you have the opportunity take the rad child one (the one that makes your radiation level decrease on its own - not a lot of rad away in the DLC and your rads go up pretty quick when you eat the food. After you hit level 30 start the DLC and save after you get into it. Quit to the main menu, go to live and download the update. Reload the save where you are in the DLC (I mean in the DLC after you are knocked out - I don't know that it will make a difference if you save after you enter but don't get to that point - I really wouldn't take the chance. When you start playing after you accept the update the level cap does increase (the update fixes that too) so you will start to get xp again and will continue to level up to 35 - higher if you have the other DLC on there as well. I hope that helps others. I checked multiple threads and sites and could not find a good answer.

**Edit** The quest completed after I was able to get all three back to the fountain and progress through the dialogue with Elijah. Didn't pay any attention to it but the achievement never popped. I finished out the DLC and everything else worked as it was supposed to and the game still showed that I had not gotten the achievement. I deleted the DLC, cleared the system memory again, deleted the update and reloaded the save before the bunker. After I got into the bunker I logged back into live and continued the quest. I ran through pretty quick (having done it a few times I knew where to go). Dog first - sent to fountain, Christine second - sent to fountain, Dean last - as soon as I told him to head to the fountain the achievement popped. I like this game but I am pretty glad I am done. I also used the video and was able to escape with all 37 bars of gold. Really no need for them since I am done now. I didn't actually go back to the wasteland after getting the final achievements though. Again, I hope this helps others and this game is going on the shelf.

To start the DLC, go to the Abandoned Brotherhood of Steel Bunker marked on your map. Note that you will be stripped of all your items so don't bring anything; you'll thank me later. Fall for the obvious trapped radio to begin the DLC.

Once inside the DLC, you will need to save three other captives:

  • Dog, a schizophrenic Nightkin
  • Dean Domino, the performer turned ghoul
  • Christine, mute Brotherhood of Steel Scribe.

Your first rescue should be Dog because you'll need some essential supplies in the police station. Avoid any ghost people along the way if possible and enter the station. Once inside, you'll need to shoot radios that block your advance into the basement. Radios with a blue light and old-style radios can be shot, radios with a red light are invulnerable. Once downstairs, make your way to the recording and pick it up (also don't forget about the contraband room). Go back to Dog, play the recording, and then finish the conversation to free Dog. For a full, detailed walkthrough, check here.

Next on the list is Christine. She's trapped in an auto-doc in the clinic in the medical district. Make your way first to the medical district, then use the roofs to find the clinic door. Once inside, first go to the basement to disable the radios, and then back to the first floor to free her. Talk to her and she will also return to the fountain. Note that you shouldn't return the hologram security to the first floor; it will make the task much harder For a full, detailed walkthrough, check here.

Lastly is Dean Domino, holed up in the residential district. If you don't have the Light Step perk, you are headed for trap city. Almost every turn and stairway will have a trap on it, so keep your eyes peeled. Once you finally reach Dean, agree to be his partner. However, he will still refuse to go back to the fountain. You will need to escort him back to the fountain yourself instead. For a full, detailed walkthrough, check here.

Once all three are back at the fountain, talk to Father Elijah and the achievement should pop.

It has been brought to my attention that this trophy is possibly glitched. Everything worked out for me just fine but you might want to be careful. Some tips I have for this will apply to the most of the DLC in general. Scavenge everything, look in all corners, always watch for traps when walking, save plenty and conserve ammo. Thought I might mention that the trophy image is a Brady Bunch reference.

You will receive the trophy according to the story.

From Father Elijah you will receive the coordinates of the location of 3 future partners (Dog, Dean Domino, Christine).

First, go to the super mutant nicknamed Dog , because... the path to it is relatively safe, and at the police station you can get a number of things that will be useful in the future. Avoid ghost people along the way. As soon as you find yourself in the area, destroy the radios located nearby. For the future - they come in 3 types: pendant with a blue light (easily destroyed by the 1st shot), pendant with a red light (cannot be destroyed, you can only turn it off through the terminal or pass by), vintage-looking radio receivers (simply turn off when you activate them). Then go down to the basement, find the holodisk, return to the cage with the mutant and play the recording from your Pip boy. After this, all that remains is to talk to Dog/God.

The next target is Christine . Go to the medical district and after jumping a bit across the rooftops, get to the clinic. Once inside, head to the basement to turn off the radio, and then to the first floor, to the autodoc, in which Christina is locked. Along the way you will come across hologram guards. Just change their patrol tasks through the terminals, thereby clearing the way for yourself. They can only be destroyed by exploding the hologram emitter (usually located on the wall, emitting blue light). Talk to her (part with the mutant first) and help her break through to the fountain.

The last partner is Dean Domino . Move to residential district. It is best to take a mutant with you (especially important on maximum difficulty). Be careful, you will encounter many “ghosts” and traps along the way. As soon as you get to Dean (he's in the building, on the top floor), sit down on a chair nearby (don't forget to leave your companion) and start a conversation. Agree to become his partner and accompany him to the fountain.

Near the fountain, talk to the Father Elijah hologram and you will receive a trophy .

PS I’m not sure that it’s necessary to personally accompany your partners to the fountain.
