How to unlock the Up to the Challenge achievement in Fallout: New Vegas - Definitive Guide

The following are all the one star challenges added to the game

A Slave Obeys

Kill Mr. House with a 9 Iron or Nephi's Golf Driver

Benefit or a Hazard

Kill Robots with 5.56mm pistols (15 required)

Overkill

Kill Animals with any Fat Man or Fat Mines (20 required)

The Same Could be Said of All Religious Weapons

Kill Feral Ghouls with Maria, Gehanna, and Holy Frag Grenades (15 required)

You Don't Belong In This World!

Kill Abominations with Katanas, Dynamite, Machetes, Throwing Spears, Throwing Knives, and Throwing Hatchets (10 required)

Ne Ne Ne Ne...

Cripple Right Arms with Shotguns (5 required)

Only one challenge here is completely missable that one being A Slave Obeys. If you already killed House you will be unable to complete it. The easiest 9 iron I can think of are in Nipton. One in the town hall and the other in the house with the Mister Gutsy. If you want Nephi's 9 iron go to the South Vegas Ruins East Entrance (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/South_Vegas_Ruins_East_Entranc...) and find Driver Nephi to the south. You need to kill him for the quest Three-Card Bounty if you plan on doing that quest.

Even if you can't kill House then there are still 5 more goals. For Benefit or a Hazard. Use the 5.56mm pistol from Gun Runners due to the fact that it will contribute to Master of the Arsenal. If you own Old World Blues the roboscorpions, securitrons and turrets found throughout the add-on will contribute. Avoid killing Mister Gutsys and Sentry robots as you need to kill them with a different weapon for another challenge.

If you are determined to complete Overkill then you can either use Esther the unique fat man added to the game or you could find a regular one. The easiest one being found in Nopah cave. (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Nopah_Cave). Be mindful that ammo is limited and in my experience Gun Runners does not carry much ammo when selling.

The Same Could be Said of All Religious Weapons is best obtained by using the Gehanna as it contributes to both damage achievements. I suggest the Old nuclear test site since the ghouls respawn. (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Old_nuclear_test_site) If you haven't killed the ghouls found in the REPCONN test site there are some there. This building can be found west of Novac.

The best choice for You Don't Belong In This World! is the katana sold at Mick & Ralphs as it contributes to Master of the Arsenal.

The following are Abominations

Aliens (Wild Wasteland)
Centaurs (The Devil's Throat or from Hidden Valley go to Black Mountain to find a broken fence.)
Deathclaws
Mr. House
Nightstalkers (Bloodborne Cave)
Spore carriers (Vault 22)
Spore plants (Vault 22)

As for Ne Ne Ne Ne... if you have the Bloody Mess perk then his will most likely be ruled out. I didn't go for this one as I have said perk so I can't comment on the difficulty on the challenge. My best suggestion is using a weaker shotgun on enemies with more health. Remember you just have to cripple the arm so if you run into an enemy of another challenge be sure to finish the blow with any required weapons.

I hope this can now help if any more information is needed please comment!

For Benefit or a Hazard if you can't find any robots and don't want the strip/Houses securitrons hostile to you, or just want an easy 15 kills that won't fight back, you can keep killing Yes Man and it counts each time. Just need to leave the area so he respawns.

For Ne Ne Ne Ne... you'll still get +1 if you cripple their arm with the shot that kills them. That's how it appeared to work for me.

For Ne Ne Ne Ne I use bean bag rounds as they won't kill in one shoot but will cripple.

Nellis base has respawing Mr. Gutsy's. If you kill them one by one without anyone seeing you kill them, you will still be friendly with the Boomers. Your best bet for the * and ** robot challenges

There's an even easier way to do Benefit or Hazard, also in Old World Blues. Fast travel to the X-8 Facility and go to the splicing terminal to splice a Robot and a Lobotomite to create a non-hostile Robobrain that will take 3 shots to the head or less to kill. After 3 or 4 Robobrains, the splicer will need to restock, so just wait 24 hours and start making Robobrains again.

For Ne Ne Ne Ne..., it may be worth it to go after the Fiends with a sawed off, specifically, so that way you can also work on the 2 star challenge related to them.

Just discovered that Ne Ne Ne Ne... doesn't have to be against human opponents, and for that matter, doesn't have to be specifically "arms" either. Any right forelimb on any creature will work, including the Right Wings on the boatflies I just completed the challenge off of. This actually makes that challenge extremely easy to get, even with a level 1 character, again, like I did.

@LMEPHISTO: Pretty certain it has to be.

Anyway, quick note: Sentry Turrets count as robots, so that can make finding some robotic enemies easier.

Easiest "9 IRON" for me was in Freeside - in the The King's School of Impersonation building, on the 2nd floor in one of the rooms in the center, laying on the carpet.

For You Don't Belong In This World! *, Blind Deathclaws count but kills with Broad Machetes do not count. If you use Dynamite on a Blind Deathclaw it will also count towards Deathclaw Pro Hunter ***.

For 'Benefit or a Hazard' go to H&H Tools Factory, It's filled with easy kills. Sentry guns also count. I'm not sure if there are enough kills inside, I only needed 7 more when I entered

You Don't Belong In This World! can be easily gotten in Zion NW of Caterpillar's Mound. There are lots of Spore carriers and Spore Plants. Note: Gehenna doesn't count as a katana, but you can get one in Freeside at Mick and Ralph's.

I started this towards the end of the game. I still have not killed Mr. House, so this made thing easy. You will need the Maria gun, a 5.56mm pistol, and a 9 iron golf club.

First thing I did was made a save, so I could go back and not have bad fame with the strip. Thats up to you. Also, Note that you can fail some story line missions if you are trying for “The House Always Wins”...

1.) Started with “The same could be said of all religious weapons” Challenge. - Kill 15 Feral Ghouls with Maria(gun)

Get the gun Maria. Benny is the character that has this gun located at The Tops Casino.

Travel to the Old Nuclear Test Site (bottom of map) kill all the Feral ghouls with the Maria gun. If you are still looking for a few more travel to Repconn Test site (near Novac)

**NOTE you can also wait 5 days and return to the Old Nuclear Test Site

2.) I started “Benefit or a Hazard” in Mr. Houses Suite at the Lucky 38 Casino - Kill 15 Robots with 5.56mm pistol

You need a 5.56 mm pistol which you can get from the Gun Runners or if you have “That Gun” from earlier in the game.

Once you enter the Suite kill all the robots with you 5.56mm pistol.

Once they are all dead open the wall to see Mr. House, and kill those to robots as well.

**NOTE this is were I went and did the “A Slave Obeys” challenge

Head back to the casino floor there are 3 more robots kill them. Next, head out to the strip and kill the robots till you get the challenge complete.

3.)I did the “A Slave Obeys” challenge at the same time as the “Benefit or a Hazard’ challenge. - Kill Mr. House with a 9 iron

Once in the Lucky 38 casino Head to the presidential suite. I killed all the robots. Open Mr. House’s wall unlock the elevator and go see him.

Take him out of his chamber and kill him with your 9 iron or Nephi’s golf driver.

Thanks for the good information. Thumbs up, even though I did it differently 'cause I wanted to be able to save my game without getting bad rep.

For the Benefit Or a Hazard challenge there are tons of robots all over the "Old World Blues" DLC if you bring a 5.56 with you (I used That Gun). Or you can kill the robots in REPCONN Headquarters. You don't lose Karma or anything.

Here is a tip for:
The Same Could be Said of All Religious Weapons
if you killed all ghouls at Vault 34.

Make sure you have one of the guns needed for the achievement.
(Maria, Gehanna, and Holy Frag Grenades)

Steps:
-Head over to the Nuclear Test Site on the southern most part of the map.
-Kill all the ghouls there (about 10-15)
-If more ghouls are needed head to any location on the map, and wait five days.
-After the fifth day head over to the Nuclear Test Site to finish off your challenge.

Same process can be used for Benefit or a Hazard
if the Security bots were destroyed at the New Vegas Strip.

Hope this helps.

You can get quite a few robots in the Sunset Sasparilla Factory as well as New Vegas Steel. Watch out for the ones in New Vegas Steel though - they're pretty tough for a 5.65mm pistol but are still do-able.

They respawn about every 5 days so just go outside, wait for 3-5 days then go in, rinse & repeat, et voila! :-)

There are many methods and locations but the one(s) I chose are as follows.
It took about 10 minutes total. Keep in mind my account is level 30. You don't need to be... but it certainly helps.

These 2 are in the same area (aproximately):
You need a 5.56 mm pistol OR 'That Gun' and a 9 iron golf club which you can pick up on the way on the second floor on a carpet in the Kings Impersonation club.

Now you're ready!

Benefit or a Hazard” in Mr. Houses Suite at the Lucky 38 Casino - Kill 15 Robots with 5.56mm pistol OR use 'That Gun' which the shopkeeper in the dino delight in Novac sells.
Assuming you have the weapons above^
Skip past the securitrons at the entrance to the strip. (for now...)
Head into the Lucky 38 and once inside start unloading on them with the 5.56 pistol or 'That Gun' (i used the latter)

Head to the backroom to kill House with the 9 iron or Nephi's Golf Driver (unecessarily harder to get in my opinion) You need either the card key to get in from H&H tools or high enough science to hack the computer(s) to get in.

On the way out kill the couple securitrons on the strip, and if need be the ones guarding the entrance (I did pop a med-x here just in case although it isnt necessary)

Next I did 'Overkill' and I fast traveled to Gun Runners and bought a Fat Man (Or Esther) and all of the mini nukes. (it wont matter which Nuke launcher you choose, hence the name of the challenge, it's OVERKILL lol

Fast travel once more to our final destination good springs cave kill the 1-2 coyotes outside and the 3-5 once inside this very small easily navigatable cave.

Walk outside wait for 24 hours -3 times (3 days time) and rinse repeat as needed to respawn those coyotes!

I Hope this helps, it certainly would have helped me.

For this trophy you must complete three of the following one star GRA challenges:

A Slave Obeys
Requirement
- Kill Mr. House with a 9 Iron or Nephi's Golf Driver

Get a 9 iron, or Nephi's Golf Driver(Can be obtained south west of the Strip) and go to the Lucky 38 penthouse, activate the terminal to open the secret wall near Mr. House's display, then activate the terminal to unlock the elevator, finally open Mr. House's chamber and kill him.

Benefit Or a Hazard
Requirement
- Kill 15 Robots with 5.56mm Pistols.

Method One: An easy way to complete this challenge is to simply get a 5.56 pistol(GRA) from a vendor and shoot all the securitrons on the strip and in the Lucky 38.

Method Two: You can get a large chunk of the robot kills for the above challenge at the REPCONN HQ by killing all the Maintenance bots, Security bots and the Tour Guide. (Credit to Terminator)
Note:
These robots do not respawn.

Method Three: If you have the lonesome road add-on, you can kill the robots in the Hopeville missile silo, they respawn every three days. (Credit to Terminator)

Overkill
Requirement
- Kill 20 Animals with any Fat Man or Fat Mines.

Obtain a fatman and a few mininukes, then travel to the Coyote Den, kill the coyotes there(Not confirmed if they respawn, another location is the area around Goodsprings Source, search the area and kill any geckos you find.

The Same Could Be Said of All Religious Weapons
Requirement
- Kill 15 Feral Ghouls with Maria, Gehenna, and Holy Frag Grenades

Method One: Obtain Maria from Benny if you haven't already, then travel to Vault 34, You'll need some Radaway for this one as the vault is radiated, go inside and kill any ghouls you find, although they are labeled Vault Dwellers/Vault Security they will count for this challenge.

Method Two: After obtaining Maria, travel to The Devil's Throat, and kill the feral ghouls there. Fast travel to another part of the map, wait three days and repeat the process. You'll need radaway and rad-x as the area is radiated.(Credit to Terminator)

You Don't Belong In This World!
Requirement
- Kill 10 Abominations with Katanas, Dynamite, Machetes, Throwing Spears, Throwing Knives, and Throwing Hatchets.

Method One: Obtain the Katana(Usually sold at Mick & Ralph's in Freeside), then go to either the quarry, or dead wind cavern, and kill any deathclaws you see. For this challenge I recommend weakening them with another weapon to make it easier on yourself.

Method Two: Obtain a machete and travel to The Devil's Throat, and kill the centaur's there. Fast travel to another part of the map, wait three days and repeat the process. You'll need radaway and rad-x as the area is radiated. (Credit to Terminator)

Ne Ne Ne Ne...
Requirement
- Cripple 5 Right Arms with Shotguns.

Get a single shotgun as it does the least damage, and every time you attack an enemy aim for their right arm, cripple five of them and this challenge is complete.

Challenges require you to kill certain monsters, characters, or creatures with special weapons or in special ways. Each challenge is different and there are more than 3 per category so no-one is forced to kill key NPCs.

  • A Slave Obeys
Kill Mr. House with a 9 Iron or Nephi's Golf Driver. (0/1)
    • Nephi's Driver is owned by Nephi a fiend who can be found in a camp north of the Samson Rock Crushing Plant.
  • Ne Ne Ne Ne...
Cripple Right Arms with Shotguns. (0/5)
    • Any right arms of monsters, humans, ghouls, ect. It does have to be a right arm. Also any shotgun will work.
  • Overkill
Kill Animals with any Fat Man or Fat Mines. (0/20)
    • Animals can be found just about anywhere, the task then results to finding Fat Man ammo or mines. Obtaining aFat ManFat Mines, or mini-nukes should be the only difficult part of this challenge.
  • The Same Could Be Said of All Religious Weapons
Kill Feral Ghouls with Maria, Gehenna, and Holy Frag Grenades. (0/15)
  • You Don’t Belong In This World!
Kill Abominations with Katanas, Dynamite, Machetes, Throwing Spears, Throwing Knives, and Throwing Hatchets. (0/10)
    • Abominations are centaurs, Deathclaws, night stalkers, and spore plants to name a few. The link will take you to each of their pages thus giving their locations.

There are 5 different one-star achievements in total, you must complete any three of them.

1. A Slave Obeys - Kill Mr. House with 9 iron or Nephi's golf driver.

2. Benefit Or a Hazard - Destroy 15 robots with 5.56 mm pistols.

3. Overkill / From a cannon to sparrows - kill 20 animals using “Fat-man” or “Fat-mine”.

4. The Same Could Be Said of All Religious Weapons The same can be said about all religious weapons - kill 15 wild ghouls with Maria, Gehenna or Holy Frag Grenades.

5. You Don't Belong In This World!/This abomination should not exist! - kill 15 monsters (I did it on centaurs) using machetes, katanas, dynamite, throwing spears, throwing knives or throwing axes.

6. Ne Ne Ne Ne... / Ne-ne-ne-ne... - Cripple the right arms of five enemies with any shotgun.

Optimal:

1. Buy Gehenna from the Gunsmiths and kill 15 ghouls.

2. We chop down 15 centaurs with a machete (near Hidden Valley and in the Devil's Throat).

3. I got tired of the third test. I shot two dogs and two crows from the “fat man.” Thanks to a tip, Chronicle bought a “Hunting shotgun” from the same Gunsmiths and shot off 5 right limbs in three minutes.
