How to unlock the Curios and Relics achievement in Fallout: New Vegas - Definitive Guide

Achievement Hunters!

The two solutions above are good, but neither of them show the quickest way to get the achievement. The method below will take about 5-10 minutes and you will get both "10,000 damage" achievements associated with GRA.

REQUIREMENTS
Around 25k in caps. If you have this, you're good to go. You'll also probably want to make sure you have a bunch of stimpaks on hand in case you take collateral damage from the mini nukes.

WHAT TO DO
** Fast travel to the Gun Runners mark on your map (just below and to the right of The Strip) and save your game.
** Buy "ESTHER (GRA)" from the robot at Gun Runners. It is around 22k and is a Mini Nuke Launcher that counts both as a GRA weapon and a "unique" wasteland weapon.
** Buy all the Mini Nuke ammo that they have (the Mini Nuke mod for sale at Gun Runners will not work on Esther so save your caps).
** Fast travel to Black Rock.
** Make your way to the top of Black Rock killing everything along the way. There are a bunch of Super Mutant Masters and Nightkin Masters.
** You will most likely have exhausted your Mini Nukes at this point.
** Return to Gun Runners and buy another load of Mini Nukes (they will be restocked).
** Fast travel to The Strip. Kill the three securitrons at the entrance to The Strip.
** Enter The Strip.
** Launch a shot at the two hookers in front of the casino. You should kill 4 or 5 people total with this shot.
** Both Achievements Unlocked!
** Reload your save game unless you want everyone in The Strip pissed at you.

If for some reason the achievements didn't pop, open up your pip boy and find the two challenges that are associated with these achievements (Notes -> Challenges -> Hit Right a Couple of Times). They will show you how much damage you've already inflicted so you know how much more you need (if you didn't get it, you're probably right around 9900 or so).

Works for me,with ESTHER weapon,both achievements unlocked!
I go directly to the strip,i made 10000 damage in 2 minutes!

Got 3 achievements, as got the chievo for explosive weapons too! The only thing I would add is make sure you put a good distance between you and your target, if using Esther, as it is VERY easy to blow yourself up with it !!! Thanx

It's been a while since I played, but if I remember correctly it's South-South-East from the the strip, pretty close to the outside wall. I'm sure Bing or Google can find the exact location if you're still looking. It's a little "shack" with a robot posted up inside. It has it's own spot on the map, bit you don't actually go inside the shack, you just walk up to it.

Fast travelled to "Mathews Animal Husbandry Farm" and got ~7000 just killing brahmin and bighorners!

I just tried to use Red the Rocket Launcher from The Lonesome Road add-on, I checked the challenge progress after destroying the strip. No change. Red Glare doesn't work for the Curious and Relics

POSSIBLY A GLITCH?

Unlocked both
- Master of the Arsenal
- Curios and Relics

I just got the two achievements when I went to use Funkdogs method, however I missed and killed myself accidentally which counted as 10000 damage and got both achievements.

I'm level 50 and had full health and no armor as I sold it all to afford the gun. It took about 5 seconds this way and it may be a glitch but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Got it in 2 shots one at the entrance to the strip and the other at a group of hookers and a few patrons. Popped right away. Thanks!!

even better actually...

Buy ESTHER and go to Jacobstown. Blow away the three super mutants by the front gate and the ones charging you. On the left is the Bighorner pen and killing all of them gives you about 9500 damage before you have to go in the house. Once inside i shot a mini nuke at one of the top corners so i wouldnt kill myself. It literally took like 2 minutes total from when i loaded my save to buy the ESTHER and to when i got the achievements.

Although the above solutions will work, I found this method much faster:

1) Earn enough caps to be banned from all 3 casinos on the strip.

2) Purchase "Esther" and all mini nukes from Gun Runners.

3) Go to kings school if inpersonation

4) Fire a nuke at the stage from the doorway to that room, restore health.

5) Wait for the radiation to disperse, then fire another nuke into the doorway leading to the stairs behind the counter (to your right when you first enter the building. This unlocked for me at this stage.

NB) I was at level 31, with an explosive skill of 67 at this point. You may need to also kill passers by outside depending on the damage your character can produce :D

i used this method but after i killed the kings i went to the silver rush for the rest of the damage points.

I used this and got to 5300 for damage on both achievements and my explosives was only 6. Then I went to the Ultra Luxe casino and it popped.

Great guide. After doing this I think I was around 2500 points of damage off, so I ran over to The Atomic Wrangler to finish mine up and both of the achievements popped instantly. +1

Rofl, I walked in, fired one shot and got both GRA achievements plus Love the Bomb (this is after I already had a few thousand explosives damage from killing some super mutants). Thank you!

This achievement can be gotten naturally, without any real effort. Any weapon that has a unique name is a unique Mojave weapon. For example, I was using Benny's gun "Maria" when the achievement popped. If you have the Gun Runners Arsenal DLC this is made very easy, considering a lot of the guns have an actual name. A large chunk of my kills were with "Bozar" before switching to ''Maria". The DLC is not required though. There are tons of unique weapons in the wasteland. I found a shotgun called ''Dinner Bell" exc... I just thought this was worth mentioning.

Once you purchase the Gun Runners Arsenal DLC these weapons will be sold by characters across the Wasteland. You will be able to find them at just about any vendor who sells weapons and each has their own special selection of unique weaponry. 10,000 points of damage can easily be accumulated if you stick with your unique weapons only and do quests or random location cleaning. The full list of unique weapons can be found HERE. Just for clarification, unique weapons must be named weapons that are different from their regular counter parts like Paciencia---Hunting Rifle or Maria---9mm Pistol.

The clues about the chainsaw are wrong! She mowed down half the map, but never received the trophy.

As stated in the tip above. They can give 2 trophies at once, but there is one thing!

If you took a weapon that wasn't in the original game and it says (GRA) on the end

Or if you have improved it with some modifications.

If you take a hunting rifle, submachine gun, or revolver, this trophy will not be given, you need to take exactly the weapon that was not in the original version of the game, for example, Ballistic Fist, Chainsaw, Sniper Rifle, etc.
