How to unlock the A Little Off the Top achievement in Fallout Shelter - Definitive Guide

The Barbershop room unlocks at 50 Vault Dwellers, and costs 10,000 Caps to purchase. It takes up 2 blocks, and is a Charisma based workroom.

Changing a dweller's appearance will cost time and Caps. Switching a dweller's hair color will cost 100 caps each time, which seems to be the optimal route for getting the achievement.

The upgrade costs 50,000 caps and unlocks even more customization.

EDIT: It appears that higher charisma stats decreases the time to customize a dweller, so the (sexy) sleepwear or other Charisma boosting outfits are good for the ones that are trying to do this in the least amount of time.

EDIT 2: A lot of people are experiencing a bug that locks their achievement progress at a certain percent. According to UnfurledEmu75, a possible workaround would be to create a new vault and work your way back up to 50 Dwellers to customize 10 new ones. Unfortunate, but there seem to be a handful of glitchy achievements in this title, so you can work on this if you have another glitched achievement by the end of your completion. Just save it for later.

No I didn't spend anything like 1,200 - 2,000 caps , just change the hair colour for each dweller for 100 caps.Takes around 5 mins a dweller unupgraded. Please adjust the solution.

Want to add in it is well worth it to make sure you have a spare nightware outfit for an additional charisma boost... makes a big difference time wise in breezing through the achievement once you hit 50 dwellers and get the barber shop built.

Are you talking about the sleepwear outfit?

I'll definitely add that higher charisma subtracts time, I didn't think of that!

Also just to add, you cannot do it with the same dweller, they have to be 10 different dwellers.

I used 10 different dwellers. I put them into the barbershop 1 at a time then segregated them into different rooms to keep track of them. But the achievement has yet to pop. My stats say I have changed the appearance of 15 dwellers ( I kept going) and still nothing. Is anyone else having this problem? It's not even tracking correctly in the achievement app.

Mine hasn't popped either. I have an objective right now to customize 8 dwellers so I have to do more anyway, but the percent is stuck at 40%. Hopefully it'll update and give it to us later? I'm not sure though because it's been stuck at 40% for days.

I'm also experiencing the same issue. Mine is stuck on 70%. Any suggestions?

For those who have bugged this one, like I had at 60%:
You need to create a new vault and customize another 10

Ok, I got stuck at 90% after 9/10. Achievement popped after 22 dwellers. So I wouldn't start a new vault, just keep trying.

Mine also got bugged, but it unlocked between 20-25 dwellers. I didn't notice the pop, so don't know the exact number.
JUST KEEP SENDING THE DWELLERS TO THE BARBER !

I was stuck as well, and I can add on that you should just keep sending dwellers to the barber. I don't know how many I ended up doing, but I know it was way more than 10 and it eventually popped.

Acquire the barbershop (you need 50 dwellers to unlock it and it costs 10,000 to buy). You don’t need to change appearance, just hair colour and they cost different amounts. I just chose the cheapest colour change for 10 different dwellers in order to save caps and the trophy popped.

You unlock the Barbershop when you get 50 dwellers in your vault. In order to establish some base line stats, here is the wiki regarding the barbershop. You can see that it takes about 10,000 caps to build the initial barbershop, which is really all you need for this achievement. So you need to alter the appearance of 10 dwellers in order for this to unlock.

The main stat in the barbershop is charisma, which means that people with higher charisma will do this much faster then those who have lower. If you have any high charisma dwellers, you should send them first while sending in those with lower later. Or, you could use gear and pets, assuming you have any, to buff the low charisma dwellers to do this faster. So in order to get this achievement as quickly as possible, here are the two aforementioned methods you can use:

High Charisma:
1.) Build the barbershop
2.) Send high charisma dweller to the barbershop
3.) Change hair color or hairstyle (usually the hairstyle is the cheapest at about 200 caps, depending on which style you're going from->to)
4.) Usually this will take about 5-10 minutes so change when finished

Low Charisma - With Gear:
Small note - On this wiki with all of the outfits, you will notice that the ones with the highest gear output, on the common level, will be the Nightwear (+3), Junior Officer Uniform (+1), Initiate Robe, BOS Uniform (+1), Mechanic Jumpsuit (+1), Vault Socialite (+1) and the Business Suit (+4). Of these choices, the Nightwear and Business Suit are the highest. But, in my own experience, the Nightwear and Initiate Robe are the most common. So if you haven't yet built an Outfit Workshop, these may be your most available.
1.) Equip a dweller with roughly 5 or more Charisma with the best Charisma gear you have.
2.) Send them to the barbershop
3.) Change hair color or hairstyle (again, usually the hairstyle is cheapest at about 200 caps depending on which style your going from and to)
4.) Wait out the, slightly extended time due to lower than 10 charisma, 7-12 minutes for this to finish before sending in the next. The time will differ depending on your level of charisma.

Here is a post from TunderProsum on reddit that goes VERY in depth to not only the math and more eccentric processes of the game, but will aid you in further going about how to level your characters and build things in an effective manor. (Don't miss the Google Sheet he/she linked to. It's a page MANY have contributed to and is very useful)

I do hope this guide has helped! If it has, please do give a thumbs up so I know. Otherwise, if you believe there is something I have missed or should elaborate more on, feel free to give me a thumbs down and explain what I should be including so I can earn that thumbs up! Good luck fellas/lassies.

This achievement requires you to first build a Barbershop, which will require you to have at least 50 dwellers in your vault. After you have built it, just grab a random dweller, put him in the barbershop, select a hairstyle, it doesn’t matter what as long as it’s not the same kind as they already have, and make him get his hair cut. After you have made 10 dwellers look as crazy as you want, this achievement will unlock.

The Barbershop costs 10,000 Caps and requires 50 Dwellers. Once you've built that room, assign a Dweller to it and press while highlighting it to access the menu. Choose whatever haircut/color you want, then do that for 10 different Dwellers.

The cheapest combination is Colour 10 with Haircut 13, 21 or 24. They will cost 250 Caps.

To get this trophy you need to: change the appearance of 10 different residents, the same one does not count.
