How to unlock the Salvage Hunter achievement in FAR: Changing Tides - Definitive Guide
Two of these are part of the storyline and can't really be missed, because they hide access to buttons you need to press to progress. As you go through the game you'll notice some buoys on the surface. If you follow the chain, attached to the bottom of the buoy, to the ocean floor, you'll find a cache at the base of the chain. You need to collect at least four of these. There are 5 or 6 buoy/caches.
Sorry it took me a bit to edit this. The missable buoys/caches are at chapters: 20, 31, 32, 39, and 51
Also note the cache in chapter 32 is slightly behind the checkpoint when you load in, just before you get stopped for the crane puzzle.
And yes you can reload chapters as long as it's in one playthrough so DO NOT hit new game.
AchieveSteve has a good video for this if you cannot find them.

Buoy and buoys is the correct spelling in American English.
You're welcome.

Is your name Richard? Because you certainly act like one.
The author should not thank you for acting like a complete ignoramus. People like you are like a gray sprinkle on a rainbow cupcake. You're the reason God created the middle finger. Please utilize the nearest dryer and stop acting like the wet blanket that you clearly are, you Americentric buffoon.
THIS SITE ISN'T EVEN BASED IN THE UNITED STATES.
You're welcome.

MISSABLE
There are seven Cargo Containers you can pick up throughout your journey. These will start appearing on the ocean floor once you attach the stern section of the vessel and acquire the hook and pulley towline. You will need to pull up six of the seven containers in the game for this trophy. Half of them will be unmissable as they will be needed to be removed from your path to open gates or will be in clear site as you operate some of the underwater structures. The rest will be directly under the buoys you will push past on the water's surface for Oh Buoy and will be found along the underwater path the buoy's chain makes down to the waterway's floor.
If you are at all worried about missing either the cargo containers or the buoys, please refer to the four videos in the At a Rate of Knots guide for the timestamped locations of the six buoys and six containers needed for both trophies. There is a seventh cargo container I do not pick up in the videos, but if you need it, the location is directly under the final buoy right before you descend into the underwater caves for the Steady as you Go trophy that precedes the waterfall (and hot air balloon)

I apologize for no audio, as i'm feeling super under the weather. Here's the first 6 locations you can get this at. You get two to progress, and the other four are attached to buoys on a chain. Just grab them with the crane on the back of the ship, lift them up into the boat, and take the fuel.
1. When you attach the new hull, you are forced to get one here.
2. After leaving the new hull area, there's a buoy where you can get one.
3. When you first get the submarine ability and go underwater, you have to get one here at the underwater door.
3. After this underwater submarine area when you resurface is a buoy.
4. After the long stormy area before the crane, there's a buoy here.
5. After launching the boat from the floating city, there's a buoy right here.
There's at least one or two more, like after all the ice areas. It's right at the waterfall. I think there might be one after the waterfall too, but not 100% sure.
