How to unlock the Wages of Conflict achievement in Far Cry 2 - Definitive Guide

1. First things first, here's diamonds checklist for those tracking the progress on their own. If you're after diamonds location check #2.

In total, there are 380 diamonds in North and 620 diamonds in South.

Here's breakdown: (North + South = Total):
• 200 + 200 = 400 diamonds in 221 briefcases;
• 60 + 90 = 150 diamonds acquired through the cellular towers (6 missions each territory, 10 diamonds per mission in North, 15 diamonds per mission in South);
IMPORTANT: failing to kill a target person from one of the cellular tower missions will result in getting "Mission Completed" but NO diamonds rewarded!
•120 + 330 = 450 diamonds acquired by completing main missions.

So, according to math: 400+150+450 = 1000 diamonds.

The FACT: There are no missions in the game other than above mentioned which could offer you the diamonds for their completion.

2. As for the diamonds themselves you can use the following interactive map/guide (since msxbox-world is dead now). Found it pretty helpful back then.

Leboa-Sako: http://farcry2.zsg.dk/Map_LS_GS.php
Bowa-Seko: http://farcry2.zsg.dk/Map_BS_GS.php

It's intuitive, shows you every diamond location with pictures and it has pretty convenient territory navigation by map tiles as well. Good luck.

So by my count, you should have 380 diamonds before you leave the North, correct?

And if that is the case, crap. I seem to only have 375.

Yep, you're right. But there's some diamonds between two locations (4) you could miss (as I did). Please refer to map to find those.

This guy is wrong! You get 30 diamonds in the south per mission, then later on for 2 missions you get 40, then the last 2 you get 25 diamonds. NOT 15 DIAMONDS FOR EACH MISSION!

I have no idea what @gamerboy guy is talking about but I was writing down the numbers while playing the game, so for me, my friends and a lot of people here things are like I described them in my checklist. Maybe he's just counting them in his (wrong) way. IDK. :)

For what it's worth, gamerboy is right about the final paid faction missions being worth 40/40/25/25 diamonds. I think he just confused the faction missions with the cell tower missions. This information was actually really helpful for me, because I assumed the rest of the missions (after 50% game completion) would all be worth 30 diamonds. I was worried, based on math, that I wouldn't be able to get the full 1000 diamonds. Thank God I was wrong.

Well, honestly you are both confused since I have never mentioned "main missions" with "15 diamonds per mission" altogether. That was about cellular towers only. Just read the breakdown carefully. Cheers!

I don't know, since nobody count briefcases - just diamonds. There's different amount of them in each briefcase. If you still need the number, you can count blue points on the map. Anyway I don't see why anyone would need it...

Maps were very helpful, but I agree with the other guys. this is supposed to be a solution for an entire achievement. If you break down half then break down the rest. The amount of diamonds received from missions is just as important as the rest. Personally, I've been tracking my totals closely and when I crunched the numbers for the last third I came up 10 short. I started to lose it because I've been very careful not to miss anything. If you had included the 40, 40, 25, 25 as gamerboy said then this confusion would not exist as this accounts for the 10 missing diamonds. Thumbs down for an incomplete solution and not giving credit to the creator of the far cry 2 survival guide.

This very solution is helping people for almost 4,5 years. And once a year there's a person who misreads it. Well for once again:
1. According to all comments, you Checky and one more individual both definitely can read but obviously unable to apprehend. You're CONFUSING main missions with cellular tower missions, mate.
2. There's full breakdown for all 1000 diamonds. Well, for those who can read and understand what they're reading. :)
3. What credit to creator are you talking about? I gave him lots of visitors with DIRECT link on his site! It's hilarious! lol

Relax, man and go with peace. (Actually we'll see if you're man enough to change your vote when you finally understand you're wrong.)

There is no mention about the briefcase that is only available during the tutorial at the cock fights. I played with the fIrst character years ago. Don't remember much. So I started with the second character. I don't recall going through the cock fights... So how am I supposed to get these 10 diamonds in this 1 briefcase? I'm sure they count for the chiev.

This comment may be largely unnecessary, but I was so worried about missing this big achievement and having to reload a very old save or re-do collectible hunting, that below I will share two breakdowns of the 1000 diamonds I made after taking tons of notes.

First will be an expanded version of the OP's diamond breakdown, and second will be an expanded version of OLOT's comment above. I suspect the second version may be more useful as it will mimic the playthrough one actually follows in this game.

As stated in the solution, the best (only?) site to use for detailed descriptions of the 221 collectible diamond cases is http://farcry2.zsg.dk. (One note though, he does mislabel one case. In the Center region of Leboa-Sako (Northern territory), there is a case in the NE corner of the region past the Fresh Fish location. His guide says 1 diamond in the case when there are actually 2. It follows that this region actually has 13 cases for 31, not 30, diamonds).

Also, the case you find as part of the tutorial counts as one of the 221 collectible cases, and one of the 13 in the Center region of Leboa-Sako. Lastly, for story missions, you receive your payment up-front. In other words, you earn diamonds as soon as you accept the mission, not at its conclusion. This is something I wasn't aware of before I got to the story missions, and helps add up to the 380 diamond milestone you want to achieve before heading to Bowa Seko, the Southern territory.

Summary 1
1000 diamond breakdown

112 cases, 205 diamonds in Leboa-Sako (tutorial diamond case here, 10 diamonds)
4 cases, 10 diamonds in Central Desert
105 cases, 195 diamonds in Bowa Seko

*** 221 collectible cases, 410 diamonds ***

Leboa-Sako Cellular Tower missions
*** 6 missions @ 10 diamonds ea. = 60 diamonds *** (470 total)

Leboa-Sako Faction Missions
*** 2 factions x 3 missions @ 15 diamonds ea. = 90 diamonds *** (560)

Middle-story Missions (move you from N to S)
*** 2 missions @ 20 diamonds ea. = 40 diamonds *** (600)

Bowa Seko Cellular Tower missions
*** 6 missions @ 15 diamonds ea. = 90 diamonds *** (690)

Bowa Seko Faction Missions
*** 2 factions x 3 missions @ 30 diamonds ea. = 180 diamonds *** (870)

Shit’s hitting the fan / ramp-up story missions
*** 2 missions @ 40 diamonds ea. = 80 diamonds *** (950)

UFLL / APR leadership wipe-out missions
*** 2 missions @ 25 diamonds ea. = 50 diamonds *** (1000)

Summary 2
1000 diamonds in the order you should earn them for minimal headaches!

114 collectibles cases (112 in Leboa-Sako + northern 2 in Central Desert)
*** 114 collectibles cases, 210 diamonds ***

Do all Leboa-Sako Cellular Tower missions
*** 6 missions @ 10 diamonds ea. = 60 diamonds *** (270 total)

Do all Leboa-Sako Faction Missions
*** 2 factions x 3 missions @ 15 diamonds ea. = 90 diamonds *** (360)

*** 1 mission @ 20 diamonds *** (380)

>>> This is the 380 milestone you want to aim for before heading South <<<

Finish "There Goes The District"
Accept (and complete) next story mission, website titles it "Riding Shotgun"
*** 1 mission @ 20 diamonds *** (400)

Gather all available collectibles in the South
107 collectible cases (105 in Bowa Seko + southern 2 in Central Desert)
*** 107 collectibles cases, 200 diamonds *** (600)

>>> Done with collectible cases, pat yourself on the back <<<

Do all Bowa Seko Cellular Tower missions
*** 6 missions @ 15 diamonds ea. = 90 diamonds *** (690)

Do all Bowa Seko Faction Missions
*** 2 factions x 3 missions @ 30 diamonds ea. = 180 diamonds *** (870)

Shit’s hitting the fan / ramp-up story missions
*** 2 missions @ 40 diamonds ea. = 80 diamonds *** (950)

UFLL / APR leadership wipe-out missions
*** 2 missions @ 25 diamonds ea. = 50 diamonds *** (1000)

This comment is almost certainly overkill, but I believe that by using the maps on the website and following my Summary 2 above, you should have no issues. Simply save often and especially before a Cellular Tower mission (although I never had any issues with those). Finally, having a rescue-ready buddy is always nice in the event that you accidentally die while hunting collectibles. Reviving after falling off a cliff, getting shot out of a hang glider, or getting run over by an enemy vehicle and NOT having to re-acquire several diamond briefcases since your last save is great.

(Last but not least, to reinforce the solutions under "Weapons Expert", 1000 diamonds is the amount needed to buy EVERYTHING in the Weapons Shop computer. So if you're going for Wages of Conflict, buy whatever you want without hesitation. My load out for the latter half of the game was AR-16, Dart Rifle, and M-79. The camo suit and extended ammo capacity upgrades are great too.)

I had disregarded ALL briefcases in the Northern territory apart from the tutorial breifcase which you must pick up as part of the questline.

Once finishing all 12 Cellular Towers and missions (the last mission you should stop at to receive the last quest based Diamonds and proceed to hunt the Diamonds is when Reuben needs your assistance at the airfeild).

Once all Southern and Desert Diamonds (10 in the Desert between both North and South) have been collected, you should have exactly 805 Diamonds leaving 195 to find back up in the North. 106 - 221 briefcases opened. 105 briefcases in the South +1 opened in the Tutorial.

This total works both ways if you have collected the ones in the North first.

Bare in mind to ensure you get the kill for the Cellular Tower missions and ensure them Diamonds show up on screen once completed. Make sure you save often! I can not stress this enough.

I hope this helps with the breakdown, i am available if you have qeustions.

Weapons Expert ruquires less than 1000 diamonds, since you don't need to buy vehicle upgrades to get it. So answer is yes, you could get Wages of Conflict before WE, but what's the point in holding off necessary and important weapon upgrades?..

Sorry, man. My solution provides only checklist and I have no idea which diamonds you've missed and where. Moreover nobody will tell you that but you. Check solutions for finding all the diamonds and keep in mind that if you fail to kill a target man from cellular tower mission, you still get "Mission Complete" but NO diamonds.

And, please REMOVE double comments above. Thank you.

Just a note for future readers: During my playthru in the North, the breakdown went like this:

I collected 112 briefcases in the 9 main squares. 195 diamonds.
I collected 2 briefcases in the middle square between North and South. 5 diamonds.
I did 6 Cell Tower missions. 60 diamonds
Tutorial Segment. 10 diamonds
There are 6 main missions. (after tutorial segments). 90 diamonds.
Goka Falls mission that takes you to the South. 20 diamonds.

Total Diamonds 380.

In that middle square between North and South, you can only get 2 briefcases prior to opening up the South. When you try to go further South you pass out and respawn 20 yards North. This square can be accessed by driving South from the Bus Stop that is in NW corner of the map. (Bottom Left)

You don't have to get these 2 briefcases while in the North, but if you want your total diamonds to match this guide then go grab them while you're in the area.

This solution aims to list the diamonds as you will acquire them over the course of a play through of Far Cry 2. Using this list as you play is a straightforward way to acquire diamonds as soon as possible. You can spend more time enjoying the story, and spend less time worrying about having the right amount of diamonds towards 1000.

It is based on my comment under Serge Goujon's original solution, and user OLOT's comment there also.

The main resource you will be using for your collectible case hunting is this website: http://farcry2.zsg.dk. (I will be using the same descriptions he uses on the website in this solution) The creator did an amazing job providing pictures and descriptions on each of the 221 collectible diamond cases in the game. If you have trouble with any of the trickier cases that require a hang glider or rock jumping to reach, a search on YouTube should also provide some assistance, as there are videos of people illustrating how to reach them.

The case you find as part of the tutorial counts as one of the 221 collectible cases, and one of the 13 in the Center region of Leboa-Sako.

For faction / story missions, you receive your payment up-front. In other words, you earn diamonds as soon as you accept the mission, not at its conclusion. This is something I wasn't aware of before I got to the story missions, and helps add up to the 380 diamond milestone you want to achieve before heading to Bowa Seko, the Southern territory.

Save often and especially before a Cellular Tower mission. Although I never had any issues with those, if the target escapes, for example, you may get a Mission Completed pop-up, but not receive payment. If this happens, reload your last save. You can save at any unlocked safehouse, inside Weapons Shops, and anywhere there is a cot (Underground locations).

Finish the tutorial, and then gather all available collectibles in the North
114 collectibles cases (112 in Leboa-Sako + northern 2 in Central Desert)

{I did Weapons Shop Convoy missions next, but these do not offer diamonds}

Do all Leboa-Sako Cellular Tower missions
*** 6 missions @ 10 diamonds ea. = 60 diamonds *** (270 total)

Do all Leboa-Sako Faction Missions
*** 2 factions x 3 missions @ 15 diamonds ea. = 90 diamonds *** (360)

Accept "transition" story mission, website titles it "There Goes The District"
*** 1 mission @ 20 diamonds *** (380)

>>> If your total is 380 after accepting this mission you are right on track <<<
If you don't have 380 at this point, hopefully you're just missing a collectible case, which you can find by traveling to each region in the North and checking your on-map diamond icon count with the total listed in the upper left of the map. If you are missing a multiple of 15, you likely have a Cellular Tower mission or more remaining, or had one not pay-out. Save often!!

>>> Done with collectible cases, pat yourself on the back! <<<

{As in the North, I did Convoy missions next to unlock all weapons, but no diamonds}

Do all Bowa Seko Cellular Tower missions
*** 6 missions @ 15 diamonds ea. = 90 diamonds *** (690)

Do all Bowa Seko Faction Missions
*** 2 factions x 3 missions @ 30 diamonds ea. = 180 diamonds *** (870)

Shit’s hitting the fan / ramp-up story missions
*** 2 missions @ 40 diamonds ea. = 80 diamonds *** (950)

UFLL / APR leadership wipe-out missions
*** 2 missions @ 25 diamonds ea. = 50 diamonds *** (1000)

>>> 1000 diamonds acquired, let out a huge sigh of relief <<<

^nevermind - to answer my own question, it would appear that I am missing the two diamond cases from the “in-between North and South” area, not included in the primary nine squares of the north. The value of those cases is allegedly five. Will update this, once I confirm.

I’m so confused. I collected all 114 cases in the North, completed all six cell tower missions and have done the three underground mission, six buddy missions, and even 18/20 side missions (don’t even think these are necessary). I believe the next faction mission is the main mission that gives 20 diamonds, but I’m currently at 355, meaning I’d be only five diamonds short of 380?! The math seems a little broken.

Hey Gamers! I know this game is old and many people might not see this, but I made a complete guide getting all collectibles and missable achievements broken down by each region. If you follow this guide you will get every campaign achievement in one playthrough. I hope you find it helpful!! Every collectible and important point it timestamped within the video description if there is a particular one you need.

This took me a TON of time to put together and I did my best to make it as efficient as possible in the route I take to get everything in this collectible heavy game! Enjoy!

Diamonds and Jackal Notes are best collected early rather than late in the game. After a few missions from the beginning of the game, access to the entire northern part of the map opens up. Having collected all the diamonds and notes in the northern part, we move on to the main and side missions before moving to the southern part. We collect 4 diamonds in the intermediate location, then, having moved to the southern part, we do everything the same as in the northern one.

To get a trophy. You need to find all 221 cases with diamonds, and earn the missing ones by completing tasks from factions and telephone towers. As a result, you should have 1000 diamonds.

Here is the location of all the diamonds (Each territory has a certain number of diamonds. To find out how many diamonds you need to collect in a given location. You can look at the upper left corner of the map, there you will see how many diamonds you should find.)

There are exactly 1000 diamonds in the game. Look in the player's statistics. I'll give you the same good advice. Don’t run around looking for them all over the map, complete tasks and at each point in the directions you will collect most of them. You will collect the rest when you complete the tasks of your friends. You will lose a lot of extra hours without this advice.

To get this trophy, it is not enough to collect all the cases with diamonds in the game (there are 221 in total); you also need to earn diamonds in all main and additional missions. In total you need to collect 1000 diamonds (the figure can be tracked in statistics, in the line “total diamonds collected”). Here is a list of diamonds in the game and the conditions for obtaining them (the list was compiled based on personal experience after beating the game, and did not rip off incorrect data from Western forums):

Northern Territory (total 375 diamonds):

- 205 in cases (total 112 cases);

- 110 in main missions (6 missions with a reward of 15 diamonds and 1 mission with a reward of 20);

- 60 in missions from radio towers (6 missions with a reward of 10 diamonds).

Central Territory (total 10 diamonds):

- 10 in cases (4 cases in total).

Southern Territory (total 615 diamonds):

- 215 in cases (total 105 cases);

- 310 in main missions (6 missions with a reward of 30 diamonds, 2 with a reward of 40, 2 with a reward of 25);

- 90 in missions from radio towers (6 missions with a reward of 15 diamonds).

Don’t set yourself the goal of collecting only cases - you’ll waste a lot of extra time. I recommend collecting cases along roadsides and in the depths of the area directly as you move along the map when completing missions (both main and side). Missions do not depend on time, you can easily be distracted. Also collect cases in locations as the story progresses, because... you will visit every location in the game according to the scenario. That is, there is no point in going to a location just for diamonds, making your way through a crowd of enemies - take the mission, go to the indicated place to complete it and collect all the cases in this place. According to the plot, visit all the locations and collect all the cases. Save in the nearest shelters more often - if you kill, you won’t have to collect a bunch of cases again. Saving during a mission is not prohibited.

Before leaving the northern territory, it is better to collect all the cases and complete tasks from the radio towers (make sure that diamonds for killing a target on a mission from a radio tower are counted immediately after the kill). You should have 375 diamonds in your stats.

The virtual map shows 4 cases, which are taken using a hang glider. So, at least two of them can be easily taken on foot, you just need to take a closer look at the terrain and take advantage of it. One hang glider is located right next to the shelter - don’t forget to save before the flight and if it doesn’t work right away, you can immediately try again without the consequences of falling and waiting for the hang glider to respawn. Flight on a hang glider is simple - just keep the left stick pulled down (to descend more slowly) and move it just a little to the side to turn.

Be sure to leave a save before the last mission in the game, where the journalist will call you to meet him at the bar, and then you will go to prison to meet the jackal. So, it is advisable to make a save nearby. Once you get into prison and save there, you can’t get back out, straight from the prison itself. This is, of course, in case someone overwrites the save and, like me, wants to collect diamonds after prison, a crash is inevitable.
