How in Far Cry 3, you can buy Maps for the Collectibles. This Maps show you as Symbol each Collectible on your Map. You can set a Waypoint to a Symbol and you see Ingame the Location from this marked Collectible.

Each Map cost $500 and you can buy this after you takeover a Garnision is this Area. There are total 4 Maps to buy. This Guide will help you when you stuck for searching a Collectible, nothing more.
