How to unlock the Reign Of Death achievement in Far Cry 4 - Definitive Guide

The first place I found without going to a fortress to have a mortar was the Kyra Tea Terrace outpost. You can go into this and get the reinforcements to come in trucks for easy kills, or you can take the time to try to get the guys around the base. Either way simply restart this outpost after you finish a couple of times and boom, achievement is yours!

Worked perfectly. Took one try to get the timing (more of when their trucks would get where I aimed).

I had most of the kills already but this was the perfect way to finish them off.

Using this exact method I've got up to 100+ mortar kills and no pop. Guess this can be glitchy for some

Worked great. Just a heads up. This outpost can also be used for the elephant achievement as there is always an elephant nearby

I've gotten waaaay over 30 using this method and it still hasn't popped. Going to try to finish it up tonight. +1 :)

Don't do this when it is an outpost. Do it in the mission with Salbal since if you trigger the alarms the enemies will spawn indefinitely.

I did this in "Outpost Master" -- it's the blue flag icon that appears after you capture this location as an outpost. You will get "points" instead of XP for kills but it still counts towards your total 30. I successfully completed each playthrough of Outpost Master, I didn't die. I am not sure whether or not kills count if you die in Outpost Master or in regular play.

I did this late game at the Lhumtse Barracks. I would just snipe the snipers, run to the mortar and rain hell on everybody without even finishing off the outpost first. With one death on the side, it took me 3 runs to get it.

Outpost Master was glitched for me. It would spawn me outside the map unable to do anything. I realised enemies appear next to outposts and fortresses e.g. Varshakot and I started working towards this that way. I believe I already had a couple, maybe 10/15 going through the game normally so it didn't take that long to do. When I unlocked it I was just waiting enemy vehicles to appear in Varshakot. Must have got between 5-10 kills alone just there. Fast travel there and you should hear gunshots. After dealing with them wait for vehicles, you'll hear the sound of them coming. Get them to notice you so they don't just drive away!

I have another Place without Outposts or Fortress. Go to the Kyrat INTL. Airport (Coordinates Y: 274 - Y: 605) here can you find a Mortar (X: 279 / Y: 606) outside on a hill.
The Enemies here are in Groups. if you kill one Group, a other Group appears. Use the Mortar and Kill the Enemies around the Airfield. After 3 Groups press Start and use the Option Save & Quit. In the Mainmenu use Continue and you start directly in front of the Mortar again and can repeat killing the Enemies. I think is one of the fastest Ways to earn this Achievement,

The Airport will become friendly after the first Willis mission.
No more enemies will spawn at this location then.

I tried this, and there was only 2 groups. Also, it put me at the nearest Bell Tower (which isn't that close) when I saved/quit/continued. Didn't down vote, but there are some details missing that make this pretty inefficient. Guessing you have to be at a very specific point in the story or something.

Worked perfectly fine right at the beginning of a new game. After the first Sabal / Amita decision (a couple hours into the game) I sided with Amita and took the tiny chopper north to the airfield.

You can find a Mortar at the Outpost
Kyra Tea Terraces X: 393, Y: 328
If you already completed the outpost, restart it by playing outpost master.

Go inside silently and take out the enemy on the mortar truck. If you play on easy you only have to heal yourself from time to time to stay alive up there. Now take out the enemies with the mortar and make sure you let one enemy trigger the alarm to call for reinforcements. Take out the two trucks and reload the mission and replay it until you have 30 mortar kills.

Your coordinates are incorrect. They should be X:393, Y:328 ...

Idk how you have negative votes. This is clearly the easiest way to do it. On the approach dude on the right outside of the truck throw a rock out in front of him to get him looking another way and go arrow the mortar guard. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Great solution and thank you.

Every fortress in the game will have a mortar around somewhere, they will be shown on the map as an orange mortar.

You can walk up to one and hold cn_X to use it, then hold cn_LT to aim and press cn_RT to fire, it does take a few seconds for the mortar to land and the enemies might run away from where you fired.

If there isn't may enemies for you to kill, you can allow them to call for reinforcements to make sure there is enough enemies for you to get the achievement there or you can die or leave the area and come back when the enemies have respawned.

I found a glitch today that may help with grinding this achievement and Tusker achievement (not sure if it works for everyone). When I played the mission City of Pain, I fast traveled to the Kyra Tea Terrace outpost at the start of the mission. When I arrived at the outpost and started heading towards the mission marker, a retaliation party showed up to attack the outpost. After I defeated them with the mortar and returned to heading towards the mission marker, a retaliation party showed up again. I repeated this about 7 times for the achievement, and each time a party showed up before I could get to my mission marker. This also helps for elephant kills (Tusker achievement) as there are elephants nearby the outpost.

To use the mortar at this location, just climb into the truck with the mortar symbol and hold cn_X to enter the mortar. Use cn_LT to aim from an aerial view and use cn_RT to fire the mortar round. The only challenge with this location is that sometimes enemies will get to close to the mortar and the outpost and it will be nearly impossible to hit them with the mortar at such a close range.

Good luck and please leave feedback or suggestions (before giving me a negative vote; I will try to improve the entry).

- Go to the Kyra Tea Terraces
- Do NOT disable the alarm
- Kill All guards except one
- Let him call reinforcements (8 of them will come in 2 trucks)
- Kill the remaining guard and use the mortar (The trucks will come from the North-East from when you are on the mortar
- Use LT the aim on the road the come down (Make sure to some a little bit ahead of them
- Release LT and when you are ready, Just tap RT to shoot the mortar faster
- Do this 3-4 times and the achievement is yours

In the Golden Path MISSION where you have to destroy the chimney stack (NOT when it is an outpost as suggested on here) at the heroin factory (select Salbas mission) trigger the alarm and go to the motor on the centre building with the chimney. Provided you don't destroy all of the objectives the enemies will spawn indefinitely and won't come up to attack you. Just keep going and you'll get it easily.

Note: they will sometimes climb up but they will most likely not engage and you can easily take them out with mortors.

You can spot mortars on the map by looking for the orange outline of a mortar and the name "weapons nest", you either get a static machine gun or a mortar. These can be found near most outposts but getting to them and using them will leave you open to a lot of enemy fire.

You can heal while operating a mortar without exiting the weapon so make sure you have some health syringes with you just in case.

I got most of my mortar kills late on in the game. During the campaign mission "A key to the North" you have to complete an objective and then you are warned that enemy reinforcements are on their way. As shown by the video below you can get loads of mortar kills defending your position during this segment.

I then went to the outpost Barnali's Textiles near this mission location and made a load of noise so that reinforcements are called (second part of video below).

Throughout the story, you will notice Mortars (pictured below). You can use these to rain fire down on enemies. It is very powerful so we recommend using one whenever you see one. There are marker on the mini map as well, with a little picture of a mortar. If you don't have this after you complete the story, you can do it at the "Pranijagat School" (X:350, Y:627) Outpost. There is a mortar in the center of the camp. Now, let the alarm get set off and about 10 enemies will come as reinforcements. Simply get on the Mortar, and kill all the enemies you can see with it. Once all are dead, simply replay the Outpost by going to the blue flag icon located within. Rinse and repeat until the trophy unlocks.

(The image above shows what a Mortar looks like).

Here is a visual walkthrough on where the Mortar is, and where the enemies will always come from.

who needs specific instructions - in the north there is an outpost called the Bhirabata checkpoint, we capture it, then we go to the mission "return to the outpost" there from the spawn point we go to the right on the right side, kill the sniper and to the left of him at a short distance there will be a mortar, turn it 180 degrees and shoot everyone else with it, replay until the trophy drops

It is not necessary to use outposts. In the mission from Sabal, where he will offer to burn down the tea factory, there is a mortar right in the center, behind the yellow building. Feel free to run there, shooting enemies along the way. By the way, they will respawn while we are completing the mission, so don’t rush to complete it, but calmly knock out the achievement, and then finish the task. Knocked it out in about 5 minutes.

When you are asked to recapture your outpost, you will have time to run to the mortar before the enemy approaches. We sit down at the mortar and cut off the enemies. Completely done 3 times.

Can be used to capture outposts. We make our way to the mortar in stealth, and then take out everyone in a few salvos. And the trophy accumulates, and the time to capture significantly reduces and makes the task easier in the second half of the game.

As stated above, the mission from Sabal. If you run out of mobs, burn one of the stacks of drugs on the first floor. As soon as it burns down, the mobs will come and at this time you need to be ready with a mortar.

There are mortars in every fortress, and they will also be found in the open world.

Video for clarity.

I completed this task in the "Kyrat Airport" zone in 20 minutes, the mobs are scattered, but they are constantly being killed, the mobs near the mortar are not disturbed, so you can calmly and quickly get the trophy

Important! If you kill but do not save, the kill does not count! That is, until you capture the fortress, your kills will not count!

During the mission to capture Pagan's fortress (or something like that), there will be an opportunity to make this trophy, or most of it. You can not boost anything with your finger, just take out a couple of enemies with a mortar if possible, and then grind them down on this mission.

The trophy is very simple, you need to find a simple outpost with a mortar and there is such an additional one. mission to "recapture" the outpost

Almost all outposts in the North have mortars. We turn off the signal, get to the mortar and destroy the rest of the opponents.

When capturing the bridge to the northern location, I highly recommend using a mortar.

One more feature. When we are not capturing fortresses, our outposts (located in locations near the fortress) are regularly raided. It is very convenient to defend outposts using a mortar. If we don’t hold the outpost, it will still remain Zanami.
