How to unlock the The King Is Dead achievement in Far Cry 4 - Definitive Guide

Achievement name: The King is Dead

This is story related and will be unlock after the last main mission in the game.

This will be the last Golden Path mission on your map. I'm not going to say a lot about the mission as I don't want to spoil it but I thought it was epic. Anyway you will finally get to the room where the legend that is Pagan Min is. Decide his fate and enjoy your 100g

Chakkal Starr adds that the achievements unlocks after the credits and that it doesn't matter what fate you decide you will still unlock it.

I just killed him and didn't get the achievement. It doesnt even say "unlocking...."

Other achievements are working fine :/

OK yep mine eventually unlocked a day or two after killing him (though I didn't see it pop).

Looks like you were right about achievements being screwy. Anyone that didn't get it, check again.

I know it's a dumb question... but the only way to see other endings is to start a new campain from the beginning, right?

You don't need to literally kill him. My achievement popped right after the credits.

They completely fucked the ending of this game. If you kill him too soon you miss out on the ending? What kind of bullshit is that? How was I supposed to know that? At least no matter what you did at the ending of 3 you got a cutscene and 2 different endings.

A choice that just simply ends the game is poor game development, but the entire storyline felt rushed anyway.

It should be added to the the solution that it pops after the credits and it doesn't matter what choice you make for it to pop. I didn't look at the comments to not get spoilers, but I didn't kill and it was right after I pressed b to end credits.

You have to watch the final credits.

There are more than 3 endings. Your choices have an effect on the game world if you continue playing after completing the game.

I shot down his helicopter but I have to say I kinda felt bad, he was a cool guy really. Genuinely never regretted killing anyone in a game before.

Did this on 18th of December no achievement popped, it’s now the 27th of December and it still has not popped. Kind of annoying.

Edit 9th Jan 2023: I replayed the whole campaign, which I didn’t mind doing because I liked the story, this time I chose to let Pagan Min live. Achievement popped as soon as the game reloaded after the credits.

Did the same for me, it wouldn’t pop after the credits. But I went back and rewatched the credits, it popped, but didn’t notify me, so the achievement was there in the after rewatching the credits.

How do you re watch the credits. The achievement didn't pop so I'm.guessing I need to rewatch the credits. How do I do that please

This achievement and "Hat-Trick" failed to pop for me. I've started a fresh playthrough and hope that the achievement will pop when I get to same point, I will update this once I have reached this point.

@Fooga. Actually Pagan Min says at the beggining of the game "I choose my words carefully" and then
few moments before this mission, so if he said
you should have listened to him.

There is a 3rd ending as well. You just need to stay about 15 minutes wainting for him in the beggining of the game.

I won't spoil it but it's a nice alternative ending. The "Should I stay or should I go" music was a big CLUE!!!

Story related and cannot be missed

The very final mission in the game. You will attack Pagan's fortress, and then you will enter his home. He will invite you to eat dinner with him, or you can shoot him there and then. You can have dinner, this just extends the ending though. If you shoot him, it ends and you don't get to watch the longer ending. The trophy will unlock regardless of the decision to make.
