How to unlock the Fixer-Upper achievement in Far Cry 4 - Definitive Guide

In order to unlock this achievement there are two pre-requisites that must be met first;

1) You have progressed through the campaign enough to have a green 'Y' appear on your map and have gone there to meet Yogi and Reggie for the first time. This meeting ties in with a mission for the campaign so I don't believe this is missable.

2) You have visited them a second time and you have completed the mission they give you. You will earn this achievement after finishing;

Far Cry 4OverdoseThe Overdose achievement in Far Cry 4 worth 12 pointsDiscover Shangri-La (Campaign only).

To he honest I would save my rupees for only the valuable upgrades, the only ones I ever used are the:

Water Faucet - for the Body armor
Trading Post - obvious reasons
Garden - Free Green, Blue & Red Leaves (The purple and whites, I never use but are good for $2,500 a piece)
Buzzer - You really only need this to reach the hard to find yaks while you are still in South Kyrat

I had to buy four upgrades for this to unlock. I bought the water faucet, trading post and garden. No unlock so turned the game off - came back the next day and bought the buzzer and the achievement unlocked. Just in case anyone has the same issue try buying four upgrades.

Once you've completed enough story missions to get access to the Ghale homestead, there's a vendor sitting in front of the homestead on a bench. To get the trophy, all you need to do is buy 3 house upgrades from him - doesn't seem to matter what they are.

The homestead is your house in the game and you will first see it when you do a mission for Yogi & Regi, who have been living in it. You can buy upgrades for it when you get further into the story. The homestead can be found at X:520 Y:577 and you can fast travel to it. For this trophy, you need to purchase 3 upgrades. A list of all the available upgrades is as follows (the costs are subject to the skill to reduce trader prices):

  • Water Faucet | Cost: 25,000R
  • Trading Post | Cost: 50,000R
  • Exterior Upgrade | Cost: 75,000R
  • Interior Upgrade | Cost: 75,000R
  • Moonshine Kit | Cost: 93,750R
  • Interior Lighting | Cost: 112:500R
  • Tree Decorations | Cost: 131,250R
  • Pinfold | Cost: 150,000R
  • Garden | Cost: 225,000R
  • Buzzer | Cost: 300,000R
  • Shrine | Cost: 375,000R

You need to buy any 3 of these upgrades for the trophy. The most useful upgrade is the garden, and the trading post. The garden contains every plant in the game and you can make them respawn by fast travelling away from the homestead, then back again. This is useful for the trophy that requires you to craft 15 syringes. The trading post will make things easier for if you ever need ammo, or want to change your guns. You may as well buy the Water Faucet as it is the cheapest item to buy. If you don't care about the items and the benefits some of them bring, then simply buy the first 3. In total that will cost you 150,000R. Once you have bought 3 the trophy will unlock.

As the game progresses, we find ourselves in our house. You can buy 11 upgrades from the caretaker, but for the trophy you only need 3. Which will cost 150,000 rupees.

The caretaker of the house from whom you need to buy improvements sits near the entrance to your house.

Another important point. If we plan to upgrade our house to the fullest, it is better to do this when we earn the 7th rank of karma, then all the improvements will cost us 25% less.
