How to unlock the Big Spender achievement in Far Cry 5 - Definitive Guide

Obviously all that is required is to spend $50,000 on vehicles in the garage/ hangars located around the map.
A good strategy if you want to keep your money is to amass $50,000 at once via fishing/hunting/ prepper stashes then save before entering one of the shops, spend all the money at once then quit the game before backing out to stop it from saving (xbox guide button + start + quit ). It must be all spent at once as reloading a save does not stack the money spent.

The achievement will pop and you will keep all your money when you relog in to spend on other things such as clothes/ weapons.

So I'm going to do this tonight. I don't want to risk the game saving and me losing the money permanently. Does the achievement pop when I spend the money or after I back out of the shop menu?

it will pop when you spend all money, DO NOT back out of the shop menu if you want to save the money. For example if you are buying every car, go down the list buying each car but dont choose to drive them , the achievo will pop up. Press guide button, press start on far cry and choose to close/quit game. When you load back up the game your money will be safe.

I don't think you have to get this all at once...I had previously bought some cars along the way and after beating the game went to spend 50k of my 57k and the achievement popped at 19k...

Indeed. I don't think it was said you NEED to spend it all at once.

I'm currently spending 5k per time and restarting the game as per above instructions. (I was a bit flash with the cash during the campaign buying all the weapons)

Achievement tracker going up every time. Thanks OP. Good guide.

Started new game plus after being 80% complete I hope I haven't glitched it. I'm hoping it's just went back to zero and I have to spend the money again.

You can use this trick without saving 50K, save up as much as you can then just buy them and fully quit (dash/quit game to home). Once you restart the game your cheevo progress will go up but you won't own the vehicles and you'll have the cash back.

I saved up like 25k and just did it twice to get the max spend. Also, buy different cars on your restart as it can bug out

Is this able to be done in New Game Plus? The achievement, I mean. Not this specific method. When it says "Campaign only," does that include NG+?

Ok it looks to me that it has been patched. When I hard quit I get my money back but the game somehow registers that I spent the money and it won't give me any progress if I spend the same amount over and over. So if your tracker get stucked it's not a glitch. Burn 50k! Not too bad, money come quickly.

Playing from GamePass on the XBox Series X, this is a very simple achievement, no unlocking issues.

Achievement broke at 84% even though I did this through normal gameplay. After reloading the game twice, the achievement popped in the main menu.

Does it have to be in one playthrough? I had this achievement in 80%, I started new game plus, buyed some cars and it is not progressing

So, there is a trick. I'm in my first gameplay, so I don't know if it reverts to zero when starting a new game (some achievements are definitely like that, and I'd prefer not to chance it). I saved a lot of the main and side missions for after I defeated all 3 regions, not significant to unlocking certain items. When you complete the quests when the region is liberated, you get an $400 bonus per quest, even if it's a main quest. As of right now, I'm at 95% completion on this achievement, meaning I only need to spend $2,500 more to unlock it, which I intend to do before I finish the game's story.

First of all it should be stated that "vehicle" includes everything driveable including chopers, planes, ATVs, trucks, cars and boats. The game tracks how much you spend internally and once you hit $50,000 the achievement pops. You do not need to spend the cash in one shot.

So I don't get the point of saving up $50,000, spending it all at once and then getting your money back. What are you saving up for, a retirement package? Clothes are totally useless and you can only carry so much ammo and equipment. I think you are better off buying the best armed vehicles you can get because it will actually make it easier to complete missions and that way you get more money faster in the long run. Plus it is more fun to have better equipment as you play and rest assured you will get this achievement naturally long before you finish the game. I'm not down-voting the solution, this is just my opinion.

are you positive that you have to spend ALL $50,000 ALL at ONCE?

I'm pretty sure you could go about just buying the vehicles along the way as you play the game and when you reach $50,000 spent you'll still get the achievement...

Am I Wrong?

I just do not see Ubisoft making players save up $50,000 cash just to get an achievement, I just don't see them doing that.

I totally understand what you're trying to do though. You're trying to get the achievement without actually buying any vehicles, without spending ANY cash at all.

I commend you for that, i really do.

There is just no way with all the stuff I still need to buy that I could possibly save up $50,000 all at once...

I'm sure other people probably can, I just happened to not be able to...

HELL, with Ubisoft Club, it gives you a couple vehicles for Club Points.

So...

With that said, there is really no NEED to buy ANY vehicles at all.

I'm probably 45% through the game already and I have yet to buy a single vehicle.

I just use the muscle car that you get from Ubisoft Club it's pretty fast, pretty good, & ONLY Costs, like, 20 Club Units, that's practically nothing...

nor do I want to. Well, unless they have good planes or helicopters...

I will see...

Vehicle shops are indicated by a green icon with a car/helicopter/boat in the middle. This is a lot to spend, so save your money. Fully completing one Region should net you over $50,000. This is by only buying a few attachments for your guns, ammo when you need it, looting/skinning when possible and then selling it on and finally completing all types of missions.

It's recommend that you start with the cheapest vehicles and then make your may up to the more costly options. To reach the $50,000 target, you'll most likely have to buy most cars, ATVs, some trucks, and lorries. Then, it's up to you on what to buy next, but know that boats and/or helicopters are the next cheapest. Also, take note that not all vehicles are unlocked at the start and those at the bottom of the lists are the more expensive options.

Money can be earned in various ways: completing story missions, selling animal skins and fish, completing outposts undetected, prepper stashes and so on. As long as you don't spend most of your money on weapons and attachments, it will quickly rack up. Once you spend $50,000 at any vehicle shop, the trophy will unlock. Back up your save and restore it after unlocking the trophy if you want to keep your cash.

An easy life hack for those who hate losing money. I had 52,000 thousand. I went to a car store and bought 50 thousand. They gave me the trophy, I left the game but did not leave the store so that the game would not be saved. As a result, I re-enter the game after the trophy and look at my 52 thousand on the spot.

Actually, what's the point of sparing money? You will buy a couple of guns with which you will run until the end of the game, cars and planes are given away for that. By the end of the game we collected the required amount and lost it, no more money is needed there

I deny the addition from SHARPSH-O_O-TER

As of today (version 1.06), the feature works, you stock up, get a trophy and force close the game without leaving the store. Come back - the cache is in place

As of today (06/07/2018) with the latest update, the glitch did not work for me. Therefore, do it at your own discretion - 50/50. But I would recommend doing it like SHARPSH-O_O-TER: save to a flash drive, get the trophy and boot again. An old and proven trick.

As of March 15, 2020, the life hack from DenSupeR is working. As soon as you get the achievement, press the PS button on the gamepad, that is, force close the game, which causes the autosave to fail and all $ remain in place when you enter the game again. Don't go to the main menu!

The bug (life hack) described above was apparently fixed in patch 1.06, so use the good old save on a flash drive. What I did prudently and did not regret.
We saved up 50 thousand, saved, dumped the save onto a flash drive, spent money (received trophies), returned the old save, the money is there.

Money can be found in large quantities in safes (to open them you need the skill of opening safes and doors or a torch) or in the hiding places of survivalists.
You can earn money by turning in trophies obtained from hunting and fishing (a fishing rod can be bought in a store).
For capturing an outpost “quietly” you receive a substantial cash bonus.

The most effective way to earn money is hunting! First, you need a bow because for killing they give you 2 skins, and if you open a skill that doubles the collection of plants, etc., then for one kill of an animal you will be given 4 skins and then sell them accordingly in any shops or merchants who roam the map...as an assistant, I advise you to take the dog Boomer, he marks enemies and animals, and Jess the girl with a bow will help kill the animal and will not spoil the skin.

You can also open safes using C4 (if you don’t have the opening skill yet).

I advise you to complete side quests after you have dealt with the villain of the region. In this case, you will receive $400 on top for each task.
