How to unlock the DLC: Zombies: DeceaZed to ExZist achievement in Far Cry 5 - Definitive Guide

Okay guys, the following solution explains my way of obtaining this achievement, though I have no idea how fast this method is compared to others.

After I had beaten all seven pitches, I went for the entirety of the remaining kills (about 85%, if I remember correctly) on the fourth pitch, "Escape From The Rooftop" (solo, standard mode, NOT Score Attack - which is a waste of time if you just want to grind for kills).

As soon as the round starts, hit cn_Y to switch to your shotgun, drop down, and stay in this area throughout the entire first part. Use quick-aim to aim at Zombies, killing them with headshots or point-blank shots, if possible, and keep picking up the ammo they drop. Just keep walking in circles in this area, and don't forget you can reload while sprinting. Should you ever run out of ammo, which is very unlikely, there's a stash about 30 meters ahead from where you dropped down, to your right, below an American flag with a skull on it.

When you're finished obliterating zombies with the shotgun and listening to a short chatter, you'll be "beamed" behind a stationary MG, which starts the second and last part of this method. Immediately grab the MG by holding down cn_X, and - you guessed it - keep blasting away at the zombies, which all spawn in front of you. Use very short bursts, though, otherwise the MG will overheat quickly, and don't even bother using the MG's iron sights, as doing so just screws up your overview. Shoot the red barrels when they spawn, and don't let any zombies climb the ledge in front/below your MG. If they climb the ledge and then run up the stairs to your right, you'll lose a lot of time, and you run the risk of getting swarmed by other zombies.

The second part ends as soon as the chick starts saying "So, after the machine gun, the chopper lands.". When you hear that, hit cn_start and restart the pitch.

If done swiftly and without complications, one run should take less than four minutes (including load times), and will net you slightly over two percent towards the 5,000 kills. Provided you are at around 15 % before attempting this method and calculating with a full four minutes per run, you'll need to do about 40 runs, meaning unlocking this achievement should take you less than three hours.

Works great. 2% of 5,000 is 100 kills, btw :)

The only thing I've changed on this run is off the bat I switch to shotty then drop down run down the stairs past table with M5 (killing whatever is in front of me with starter shotty), up the stairs and turn left, then across the bridge and pick up the SPAS12 on the table on the right. Then get to a more defensible position and basically use rest of your strat. The opening seems to go a lot faster with the SPAS, but I found this mission quicker and easier than the last mission.

What do you guys need a different shotgun for? Yes, the SPAS-12 is better, but this method is still perfectly doable without running to the other side of the map 40 times.

It shoots faster and reloads faster, with SPAS I rarely moved, could just hold a spot, you also pick up a moltov along the way which placed strategically can be worth a dozen kills.

So annoying. Mine is stuck on 65%.

I’ve played it on one console last week, moved to a X this week and re downloaded the game and still it’s stuck

Thanks for this solution. I was worried the kills wouldn’t count if I didn’t complete the pitch to the end but it works just fine.

why spend 3 hours grinding for kills if there is also an achievement for score attack? i still have 3 missions to get gold in ( a few took 2 or 3 tries) and im at 50% without actively farming kills other than to make sure i have a large enough score for gold...

Do score attack first, sure. But unless you're playing it like it's one of Jacob's trials and failing over and over again, you're not going to get the 5,000. This solution is good for getting the remainder after doing all of the other DLC's achievements.

Here is a guide I followed, I DID NOT make the video, ALL credit goes to BradLeafsFan9. It's not the quickest but great for AFKing while you sleep. Just make sure you turn off "auto-shutdown" in your power save settings, use a usb cord so your controller doesn't disconnect, and finish the pitch when you are done to have your progress save as he mentions towards the end of the video.

There is a much easier way to do this. There is a barn on the left side of the field with a tractor parked inside it, jump inside it and move it forward a meter or two. There is no back door so they can't flank you

One thing I would recommend is restarting the pitch after the turret section, according to the description all the enemies after that don't count

I do not get what killing 5000 of easy zombies is an achievement. You can do it 5000 times therefore it is more an achievement of patience but all Ubisoft are doing here is robbing you of time you will never get back whilst you sit there getting older.

Maybe I just suck at the game a bit, but I unlocked this while trying the Gold MedaliZt achievement solo. Was around 14% when I finished all 7 pitches the first time and it took me quite a few tries to do the Bridge and Rooftop pitches. So if you're a completionist, work on the Gold Medalizt cheevo first and you'll automatically unlock this or will at least go a long way towards its completion.

Otherwise, just go to the lab level, jump on the upright Mutation station after grabbing an SMG and you'll get this in no time cause the zekes keep spawning indefinitely and you're safe at the top.

Crazy to think how quickly the percentage goes up by doing this method.. was at 4% yesterday and played about 40 Minutes Doing this method and went up to 40%. I really feel like it’s more like 3,000 Kills Instead Of 5,000.

Just finished and I agree that this is the fastest way with a few extra suggestions: When you start the level and hop down, straight in front of you is a small 3-tier platform. Climbing to the top provides a nice buffer that helps regulate zombie flow to you and makes them easy to headshot. I would go back to this platform after grabbing the SPAS as Dritnul explained. I don't feel like it slowed down the run considerably.

Also, when starting the stationary shooting section, I would throw a Molotov at the top of the stairs. If timed right and thrown correctly, almost all of the zombies that spawn up there will continue to catch fire from each other and you can hone your focus on the few that spawn below the stairs on either side. Not essential, but does make things a bit easier if you're having trouble.

Kyle1810: Mine got stuck tracking at 63% and I am not sure if my kills are counting but not tracking or not counting towards it at all. Gonna idle farm some kills and see if it pops and post back here.

Already re-downloaded my account and power cycled my Xbox so hoping it's just delayed.

Edit: Posting for others who have had issues - got it 9/6/18 after doing what I said above as well as deleting the save and then downloading it from the cloud. Not sure if that fixed the tracking or if it was simply waiting the 72 hours for XBL to sync but it started tracking again and I was able to pop it. Unfortunately it did not count any kills after it stopped tracking so had to start from 63%.

I took the Idea from ravyn4077 to the next level. here is a way easier variation of this method.

why bother blocking the entry of the barn anyways? just drive around the barn and park the vehicle right at the small open door. just aim for the door.

game mechanic: the zombies run to you as soon there is a LINE OF SIGHT and a CLEAR PATH. both things are there. they just run into the shredder. doesnt matter if the vehicle is right at the door.
keep one thing in mind: DO NOT BLOCK THE DOOR or the zombies will run around the barn (clear path game mechanic will let them do that). just park in a way that there is a small path between door frame and the blades. the momentum of the zombies will throw them into the blades.

User MiZ Dove created a video so here it is and leave her thumbs up to in the solutions section

anyways... i did some math :D

how long doest it take

each spawn makes 8 zombies
spawn time is at least 42 seconds... sometimes more
5000 kills is 625 spawns
so it takes around 8hours to farm that achievement with that method

start the game... go to sleep/work/school and deactivate the energy saving options of the console

My tracker was stuck at 99% for a long time, even after restarting my Xbox, power cycling, clearing local data, etc. What happened was that I got to 99% using the idle method and then shut the game off without finishing the level, which caused the game to not register my kills while still having the tracker read as 99%. The solution for me was honestly to just keep going and it eventually popped.

+1! Used this method and at first got frustrated because I forgot to turn off auto update on my console. I had let the game run overnight and was at 86% in the morning with an error message about an update. Tried again the next night and no progress on the tracker.

I let it run today and reinstalling the game and DLC and it started tracking again. Not sure if it’s because I hit the amount where I had been or if the reinstall did anything, but if your tracker is stuck, maybe try a reinstall or just keep plugging away.

I did NOT have to finish the level for the achievement to unlock.

I had the same problem, for me it was stuck on 28%, but a keep playing until I noticed that, do a hard reset on your console, there are 3 way to do so, google for your console type, for X One (doesn't matter witch one, there're the same) or for Series S/X (there's a difference between S and X pay attention on this one), after that the tracking uploaded for me

For me, this was by far the best method. The tractor has to be positioned correctly at the small back door or they can either go around the tractor or will go around the barn. What worked best for me that kept a steady stream of zombies coming, was to park it a bit kitty-corner, and back just a little bit so they think there is a clear path, but the blade kills them. If u are up too close or completely block the door, they'll just go around the barn. If u park straight on, there is not a clear line of sight and they do nothing. This was my experience anyway. Great solution!!

or maybe just keep playing. sometimes there is a strange delay. i got far cry 3 remaster achievements 3 weeks after finishing the game XD

Instead of running the levels over and over again I wanted to find a way to idle this achievement. It's not too hard to set up, but it is fiddly until you get the right balance.

In Fields of Terror there are two tractors, one off to the left of the start of the level and one in the shed/fuel storage at the leftmost marker.

At load screen choose single player NOT score attack. You'll not want to have to worry about timing out as this method does take hours. At the start of the level you can pick up the additional gun provided or head directly to tractor down the dirt highway. I suggest picking up the gun as well as the ammo there as you'll have to need them to fend off the zombies while you're perfecting your trap.

Once you have the gun, ammo, and tractor drive down to the shed. Wait until the red barrels spawn and blow them up. Take it from me if you don't do this the zombies can push them into the tractor and kill you. Then you'll want to position the first tractor along the wall so the deadly bits are blocking the door a little bit.

External image

Fend off the zombies as needed but DO NOT break the vials in the Mutation Station. If they all get destroyed the station will close and the light will disappear and you'll have to start the level again. I've blown up the barrels all around the station as well as slammed the tractor into the station and at least some of the vials survived.

Inside the building is another tractor, this is the one that you'll be sitting in and getting all the kills from. Now once you're inside the second tractor you'll want to maneuver it so that the tractor is at an angle and there is a small walkway between the two blades of the tractors. Think about making a 'v' with the blades.

External image

The walkway is the key to having this work, if the zombies are spawning but aren't running towards you then there isn't enough room for them to get to you and their AI shuts down. If the zombies are getting through then the gap is to wide. You can either get out of the tractor to kill the zombies or stay in and maneuver around to do the killing. Keep in mind that the zombies will knock the tractor around if you let them so you can't just ignore them; but they can't kill you while you're in the tractor.

It'll take a bit of time to find the best angle and gap for this to work, so before you completely idle check back every 5-10 minutes. Don't be surprised if you come back and you're in the tractor and staring at the back of the building to just straight ahead and the zombies aren't moving. Like I said this is the fiddly part, and the extra ammo is nice to have.

Once it's all set-up it's loud and you'll have a very boring view. The wait is long so if you can switch screens to watch or do something else.

External image

If the game crashes you'll lose the kills and it'll look like your tracker has stopped. Don't fear, Xbox just can't handle the loss of stats, it's just reverted to a previous number. Keep at it and the tracker will start up again. Or if suddenly the zombies are getting to you and not dying when you hit them with the blades of the tractor don't worry and just restart the pitch. That happened to me and I don't know what happened but it was fixed after the restart.

I didn't keep track of the time I spent doing this but it was several episodes of Criminal Minds.

EDIT:
From Lord Valoel
Perhaps I’m a bit late to the party on this one, but I have some number crunches just in case. If you setup both tractors at the barn near the very back of Fields of Terror, and sit yourself on the back door, you’re looking at about 8 kills every 45 seconds or so. To make its bit easier, that’s 32 kills every 3 minutes or 640 kills every hour. Since this is out of 5,000 kills, every 50 kills equals 1%. So using this method, you’re looking at about 12.8-13% an hour if idling. This is only using one tractor though and letting it idle
From Petrolium Bear
Just some friendly advice, it did work better when I done this at the `Red Barn` and parked blocking the small door at the rear of the barn. I could not a good setup doing this with the Lubertine shed in the pictures in the solution.

It saves if you die or quit or restart. Its only if the game crashes and closes that you lose the progress. I'm sure you can idle this, but I don't have a wired controller to test it. I just had the game on and occasionally moved the camera around or hit right bumper to pull out the handgun while I watched Netflix.

good solution but you don't need all the prep work. drive a tractor to the last mutation station, the one in the barn, and park in front of the open barn door blocking it, then take the other tractor thats parked behind you, and park it blocking the tiny back door of the barn, and stay in it they spawn and run at you, 2 mins prep time.

tuck me about 10 mins to get set up right then watch it for few more mins just to make sure they dont break through as when they all hit the blades at once did see the tractor move small bit but got it running now been running for last hour now and at 36% so will be taking about 3 to 4 hours to do did add up at least 10 kills every 1.30 to 2 mins thanks for the tip appreciate it

To post pictures directly (assuming solutions work the same as the blog on TA) you can insert them only if you have them publicly uploaded to your Xbox Live account. Onedrive uploads weren't visible when I posted screenshots to my blog, I was only able to select pictures uploaded to Xbox Live. You should be able to click the image icon and select the screenshots you want to use from all available Xbox Live screenshots.

I'll try this sometime soon, probably. Seems interesting!

So using this method, you’re looking at about 12.8-13% an hour if idling. This is only using one tractor though and letting it idle, namely focusing on thug spencer and JakThaRiPP3R84 comments

To add to Hellgate Aeon's solution, i made a video for reference, tractor placement, etc. I hope it helps. This solution worked best for me out of all of them simply because i couldn't seem to position the tractors properly using the other solution.

just another guide to help them
I quickly spread the 5,000 zombies
In the score mode in the Lab
Each run takes about 2 minutes, with each end your tracker advances 2% at once and 1% at another, just do it repeatedly, as it is very fast, the achievement does not become very exhausting
if you can have at least 2 stars in the score attack, as you reload the weapon automatically up to 3 times, and it will kill the horde in the corridors easier
use the setup I used in my video below, you will do it quietly and you will get the easy way, to go faster and faster

Start "Fields Of Terror"

- Get to the last Mutation Station (after destroying the others)

- Find the tractor next to the barn

- Park the tractor on the back side of the barn in-front of the small doorway

- Leave a slight gap between the tractor and the barn wall to avoid zombies from running around the barn
(look at the video for tractor placement @ 1:05)

Extra Tips:

- Plug controller in and change a few "Power Saving" settings on your Xbox as well as the "Preference" section with the "Idle" setting. This allows you to walk away and do something else while getting these kills

- Make sure to Finish the Level in order to get you current zombie kills to save in-game!
ex. I got about 30% progress over a couple hours but turned the game off before finishing the level...so now my progress is stuck at 96%, assuming I need to re-acquire all of those kills again before my progress bar will start to go up again -.-
Learn from my mistakes!

- You can turn the "Achievement Tracker" on and make this achievement a "Favourite" in order to see your progress going up while your doing this

- After getting all of the other DLC achievements you will have roughly 50% of this cheev done already

The fastest way I have found to grind this out is on "Laboratory of the Dead" on Score Attack. I was getting 10-13% towards the achievement on each run, after I got the hang of it.

Do the mission normally until you get to the Armory. Make sure you get an LMG and a Shotgun and continue until you reach the big open room with the big Mutation Pods. If you walk down the initial set of stairs, you can look right and see a Large Vertical Mutation Pod up a few stairs.

If you jump onto the desk, then the machine next to it, you can make it up onto the Large Vertical Pod, and the Zombies will infinitely spawn and and not be able to hurt you up there. The Zombies will keep spawning and bunching up right underneath you, so you can just spray the LMG, quick aim with the Shotgun, or throw a grenade at them.

Make sure you take out the Behemoth near the Exit Door beforehand though. If you dodge his ground pound, you can melt him with the LMG right away.

Select the -Escape From The Rooftop- level with the -Play Solo- option. Press Y to switch to the shotgun, when you spawn in on the roof to the left there is a metal fence, drop down here and on the left wall there are two ramps, go up the first wooden ramp to your left (the one with all the rubble under it) and aim down the ramp so that when the zombies spawn in they will run straight into your shotgun aim. Simply stay here and pick off each zombie wave. I found this spot a lot easier to stay in than running around as the zombies only have a small area to run up to you. You get free ammo with each zombie kill so there should be just enough to get through this section. (There's some ammo on tables scattered around this level if you need some)

After about 40ish zombies you'll be teleported in front of a machine gun, press X to mount the gun and aim at the top of the the stairs across the way. The zombies spawn above and around the stairs and will try to climb up the ledge directly in front of you. ALWAYS shoot these climbers first as they can very quickly overwhelm your position. Tap the trigger lightly in this section to avoid overheating the gun. 2 waves of red explosives barrels will drop during this section, shortly after the second drop (once all the zombies are defeated) there will be some dialogue about "chopper lands". At this point simply pause the game, restart the pitch and do it all again! It'll probably take a few hours to unlock (I'm only half way through and still grinding but getting there!)

Credit to CoreScan for the initial guide in another awesome solution, I added the part with the wooden ramp since it feels a lot easier than running around and you're standing still all the way through. Thanks and good luck! 👍

The best way to grind these out is to play the last pitch selection "Laboratory of the Dead" on SCORE ATTACK.

Run straight to the door to the bunker, once you enter pick up all the ammo to your left. At the bottom of the stairs there is an AK and an LMG, so just go to town for the rest of the mission.

NOTE: If you can, ignore the Behemoths as they aren't worth your time and ammo - just throw a grenade at their feet and move on. If you kill them, you kill them.

Each run will take roughly 6-7 minutes, earning you anywhere between 150-200 kills. You should have a couple hundred anyway after playing all the missions once and going for the gold medals, which is why I'd personally save this achievement until last.

Hope you have some good music or a podcast to listen to as you'll be playing this level a LOT. God speed toast

Credit to Captn Insano72: The second level "Burning Bridges" seems to also be a good grinding spot and will earn you more progression towards the achievement.

(If downvote please explain so I can edit the solution accordingly)

If you don't want to waste precious hours on this trophy (because let's accept this dlc wasn't very fun, let alone killing extra few thousand zombies) I found a video on YouTube on how to complete it while you are afk. Just do all the other trophies first so you get as many kills as possible, load up the first level, make the setup in the video and go to sleep. In the morning you will have your final trophy.

Note: Be careful on how you place your vehicle. Monitor it for a while before going completely afk, otherwise you may find out that zombies were not spawning or vehicle position changed and you didn't get the trophy.

This trophy is a grind since you won't have anywhere near enough zombie kills after getting all other trophies. I recommend farming Rooftop Escape Score Attack Solo, if you are quick and effecient you can get around 90 kills in 4 minutes or less. This will still take around 3-4 hours of near constant play to reach 5000 kills. You could also farm the Laboratory because there are more zombies but the level is twice is long. I have included a video below of how you should go about this for a quick run on Rooftop Escape. There is a way to get idle kills by parking a tractor in the barn door on Fields of Terror, this takes around 8 hours or so, taking twice as long but is a fully afk method if you want to go down this route, you can see a video of this method from romarinho1987 HERE.

First and foremost, don't worry about this achievement whatsoever until you have obtained all of the achievements in this add-on. Between running through each movie pitch for the first time and playing through each movie pitch's Score Attack (perhaps several times) for a gold medal, you should make a considerable amount of progress towards this achievement naturally.

Once everything else has been completed and you are finally ready to grind out your zombie kills, load up a Solo session of the fourth pitch, Escape from the Rooftop. As soon as you gain control of your character, drop off the roof and run straight ahead, past the large air duct/unit, and collect some ammo off the table on the right. Now turn around, return to the large air duct/unit, and climb it.

For the next two minutes or so, you're going to stay on this structure and kill all of the incoming zombies as they try to climb up your way. After two minutes have passed, you should automatically progress to the next portion of the level, which spawns you on a rooftop with a high-powered MG overlooking the rooftop below. Mount the MG, aim straight ahead, and open fire on the zombies as they rush you from afar. Soon, you should hear the following dialogue: "So, after the machine gun, the chopper lands." Pause your game at this point, restart the level, and proceed to grind our your kills.

This method should take about four and a half minutes total (including load times) and bump you up 2% (or 100 kills) on your achievement tracker each run. All in all, it's the most efficient way to grind out zombie kills, but it's worth repeating that you should only start worrying about this achievement once all of the other achievements have been obtained.

To simplify, in the first mission (Fields of Horror) in company mode, destroy almost all the mutators except the one in the barn, then find 3 tractors, one of which is to close the rear exit, and the last two are to block the exit in front, then get into one of the front tractors and wait in the background while the zombies kill themselves.

I calculated that with this method you kill 780 zombies per hour.

I don’t know where 780 came from.. With this method I had 9 zombies in 30 seconds. Total 1080 in 60 minutes (hour).

From wave to wave 45 seconds.
8 zombies per wave.
1 hour 3600 seconds/45 seconds (wave)=80 waves per hour
80 waves per hour multiplied by 8pcs (zombies in 1 wave) = 640 Zombies per hour

If you do as in the tip from LoMaTb (but sit in the rear tractor), the trophy will drop in about 6.5 hours

Why complicate everything so much with tractors blocking doors and so on...
We do everything with the same barn, having first cleared everything else.
We stand at the back door, but do not block the passage for the zombies. But we stand in such a way (at a slight angle) that the zombies can see you. That's it, nothing more is needed.
Video for clarity.

I did everything as written in the main hint, I just got into the tractor that was closing the back entrance, there were no problems, I got the trophy. A friend who was sitting in one of the front tractors, a few hours later, the tractor exploded, perhaps it was placed poorly.
