How to unlock the To Ash achievement in Far Cry Primal - Definitive Guide

EDIT: As Ostrowidzki1989 has mentioned in the comments, if you have maxed our your skill trees from Dah and Roshani, this mission becomes a lot easier. The below assumes that (like me) youve blundered in a little earlier than that.

https://www.trueachievements.com/DECAF+REDRUM.htm mentions that, on Expert difficulty, one direct fire arrow from the final boss is instant death - all the more reason to chip away from a hiding spot as detailed below.

The mission 'The Fall of Batari' is one of your two 'final' missions - although it is visible and available after you steal the mask of Krati through Tensay's quest line, AND gain the mammoth rider skill, you'd be crazy to run straight in - but equally it's not so difficult that you need to leave this until the very end of your playthrough.

What I would strongly recommend before starting is:

- Have some of the strongest regular beasts tamed to play tank for you. Tame as many as you can generally - you may need the shield at the end.
- Craft up your bags and upskill your carrying capacity.
- Complete the fort missions for Udam and Izila (the icons next to the final boss missions). Defeating both commanders will net you the fire and beserk bombs, which will help throughout. You also might want to load up on bee bombs for an easy strategy for Batari (below)
- Upskill your owl so that cooldowns are reduced, it can drop bombs and you can take down stronger enemies with it.
- Max out your consumables, mainly your bomb making resources, meat and red leaves.
- I would recommend getting Sayla's Full Heal recipe by upgrading her hut to Level 2.
- Get the two handed club via Karoosh and definitely get the long and double bows from Jayma.
- Have 5 HP bars if possible through Skills.

Basic Strategy

First off, if you're having trouble, don't forget you can get all achievements on Easy difficulty. I actually think Batari is significantly easier than Ull, for the reasons below.

Once you reach Batari's area in the South, you'll hop on a mammoth and smash down the gate. (Keep the mammoth for a while - very useful for crowd clearance and a good opportunity to finish off your Outta My Way achievement if you haven't already got it)

Once you're in, your first task will be to free various Wenja in the area. This plays very much like any other side quest in the game (about the same difficulty as an average Hard outpost) so use whatever methods you see fit. I would just recommend making sure your meat and bomb making resources are topped back up before you meet up with the Wenja at the camp. I actually found the concentrations of Izila useful for finishing off almost all of my kills achievements with the various weaponry I hadn't favoured (spears, traps, beserk).

Once you've met up with your freed Wenja, cut the rope holding the standing stone to start a small defensive mission - you need to keep the Wenja alive whilst Izila pelt them with arrows. The Izila will mainly target you personally if you put yourself in front of the Wenja, so as long as you're fairly accurate with your bow/spear/slingshot (can't get close enough for melee of beast attacks) and can take a bit of a beating, you should be able to hold them off until the stone is down.

Next, you'll automatically put on the mask of Krati. Winding up the zig zag path, you'll find all Izila are terrified of you (their map indicators will be white instead of red). No one will attack you until you reach Batari way back in the cave (when the route out of the cave starts to look very bright white, you're nearing Batari). Use the opportunity to stock up from sacks and by taking down any Izila who don't run fast enough.

Once you reach the far exit of the cave, a cutscene will play and you'll face Batari. Neither you nor your beast can reach her for melee attacks - she's on a raised platform. Have Full Heal as your quick heal recipe if you can - Batari's bow can take out 3HP bars even on Easy.

Guard spawns are not infinite like Ull's final mission, so the strategy here is a bit different. Batari will call in replacement guards 3-4 times throughout the battle when she takes a certain amount of damage. You can reach everyone except Batari with melee and beast.

If you're very efficient with your bow, you can try and finish her off in a frontal attack whilst fending off these enemy waves.

There's a much simpler solution however - on the far left and right of Batari's platform are areas in which she can't see you to attack you. Camp in these areas and defeat all guards in a wave. (I favoured your left, her right, side of the platform). Once you've cleared the majority, typically a couple of elites show up. Get rid of them as well. Now it's just you and Batari - and you're outside of her field of attack, so take the opportunity to heal. She will likely have even forgotten where you are.

At this point you have two options. If you're good with the bow, you can duck out of cover and rain arrows on her until she calls the next wave - at which point you should clear out the wave again.

If you're not so good with the bow, you might struggle here. Batari doesn't seem to take much damage, if any, except from a headshot, and she moves around a lot.

Your alternate strategy is to bee her to death!

From cover, clear an enemy wave, send your owl out and simply bee bomb the heck out of her. If you run low on resources, there are a few sacks in the area and a handy pile of guard bodies at your feet. (You can do a little damage with fire bombs as well, however she has high resistance and the platform is not as flammable as other areas of Oros, so a persistent burn is unlikely.) I used this strategy and only had to hit her a few times with a long bow once I'd exhausted all bombs and the local resources to make them.

Either way, keep an eye on the mission text in the top left. It will let you know when Batari is calling for more reinforcements, so get back in cover and clear the wave. Again, don't forget a couple of elites will spawn late in the wave, from the right of the platform.

Once you've got Batari down to about 10% health, she'll head out on foot, coming down the ramp to her right (your left). Enemies will now come at you thick and fast, you won't get any warning that she's heading down, and Batari isn't as distinctive to pick out of a crowd as Ull. So concentrate on taking her down as soon as you register her departure from the platform - we're done as soon as she's down regardless of how many guards are still up.

As with Ull, Double handed club, a cave bear tank and a careful eye on your HP are your friends here. Try not to lose her in the crowd - she still has a nasty arrow shot to take you down with, so close in quick. Don't ignite your club - again, she seems quite resistant, and you want holding RT to charge a hefty swing rather than singe her eyebrows.

As soon as she's down, we get a couple of cutscenes and eventually the achievement.

Thanks Ostrowidzki1989, I've added your advice to the top of my solution.

Try this on Expert, not Easy. If Batari hits you once with a Fire Arrow - you're instantly dead. (6 bars full health)

For the last 10% of Batari's health, drop traps along the ramp from her gate to the bottom. She didn't even make it all the way down before dying.

Use spears vs Batari. Much easier

Spears do so much more damage than arrows.

Spears deal a lot of damage against Batari . Sting bombs and shards are good too against armoured enemies and Batari herself during the final part of the mission when she gets closer .
Don’t forget to use the help of your furry friend ( bloodfang sabretooth in my case).
Not so hard in easy diff, just careful to Batari’ s ignited arrows and you’re good to go through the ending of this awesome (but sadly glitchy) game.
Cheevo popped up right after the end of the mission (10 secs ago).
Butthurt to don’ t get it cuz of a glitch or some other freaking reason , that means few things to do … sorry about that and I partially understand the problem, I got a cheevo buggy Here Kitty cheevo) and I’ll have to go through a second playthrough (not tipo far Thankfully)….

This achievement did not unlock for me either. I'm playing on Series X with FPS Boost. It sucks because it ruined the enthusiasm of finishing the rest of the achievement list for me. I think I'm going to be done with it now and move on to something else. I don't know why games don't add an achievement unlock option where you can go somewhere in a menu and it can look at your save file and unlock anything that didn't autolock. I can tell some games do this in the background.

After doing all other achievements but this one, the kill ones were very glitchy also but did unlock eventually but no luck with this one. I deleted my save both local and cloud and had to replay prob another 5-10 hours on a new game to replay this mission. Beat boss, skipped the 3 cutscenes then the achievement popped. Hurrah.

typeonegativ71's solution with the traps on the ramp was solid gold. Excellent strategy.

Same as Subject 17, achievement has not unlocked for me. Any quick fixes?

Worth noting how easy this is as long as you have the izila fire resistance and udam melee resistance skills. I used the scar bear mid fight because his ability is to agitate enemies on him. Just revive him because he'll go down probably like 10 or so times. Definitely not a very challenging fight as long as you've made sure you've upgraded resource bags, weapons and izila and udam skills.

Kind of sucks in a way that udam and izila skills eliminate all threats entirely... Just a bit over powered and semi game breaking in my opinion...

Just want to point out that the main gate can be smashed down by riding the Bloodfang Sabertooth. I didn't realize the mammoth was needed so I got a little spear happy and killed it. I would imagine that other animal mounts would work as well. Obviously the mammoth would have been better though! laugh

This achievement is not unlocking for me. I completed the mission a few weeks ago & no cheevo, I've been back in to the game this last couple days to finally finish the game & it still hasn't unlocked. I'm also unable to unlock the Twelve Labors achievement. roll

It was most convenient for me to distract Batari with bees, and while she was brushing them off, I took out a quarter of her health with three or four spears (don’t get carried away with throws, since I’ll still have time to hide from her behind cover). Then we fight off the attacks of her guard in some corner closed to her and repeat everything. Bloody Fang helped me (from time to time I had to revive him). He also gnawed at Batari when she got off her “stage” with a millimeter of health remaining.
