How to unlock the Gone but not for cotton achievement in Farming Simulator 22 - Definitive Guide
Sell 40 bales of cotton. Has to be done in one session. Best option is to make 40 bales of cotton, do not sell until you have all 40. One thing to note as well they do not have to be complete bales to count, you can sell unfinished bales which is the optimal way to get the achievement.
edit:
The only cotton harvester that let's you make unfinished bales at the moment is
the Case IH Module Express 635 which creates rectangular bales of cotton.
This harvester requires 2000L to make an unfinished bale but the only way to transport is a trailer that carries 2 of them at a time.
This is an autoloading flatbed mod which makes picking these up easier.
In the mod menu press and type in autoloading
There should be only one mod that pops up to download (30' Flatbed Autoloading Bale Trailer the author is macktrucker921). This holds 2 square cotton bales but it autoloads faster than the only loader in the base game.
When you load up your game, be sure to check off your mods that you've downloaded, go to the store>trailers and it should be the last trailer(it'll be marked as a mod if you enabled it before loading into your save). You will need a tractor to attach it to and when you do press + to put it into operating position. When you drive up to one of your square bales it will automatically go onto the flatbed.
2. The John Deere CP690 creates round bales of cotton.
Takes 2500L to make an unfinished bale and transport takes 3 at a time.
Fastest way I found was to just hire AI to harvest a cotton field then monitor when they reach the unfinished bale amount of the harvester then dismiss AI and unload the bale using + rinsing and repeating.
Pick up the bales with the automatic bale loaders and dump them in an open field until I counted 40 bales to sell.
As far as selling points, placing spinneries close by the point where you leave your 40 bales is optimal. They can take up to 45000L of cotton so you will have to place a few more down as they fill up and can't take more.

Before I knew this, I already started selling the bales and the Achievement is on 15%. Does that matter? or can I just count to 40 bales again & do it that way? While still being on 15%

Just stumbled across this on youtube:
You need to sell 40 bales of cotton to get a 100% and obtain the trophy. And it looks like this can only be done in one session atm. Otherwise you start at 0% again.

I've been waiting for them to fix this, so I don't have to finish it in one session. Have they patched this, yet?

This achievement can be done literally in a few tens of minutes thanks to these modifications: IBC And Pallets Stack (for purchasing cotton bales), Trailer Bi-train Cotton Bales Autoload (the name speaks for itself)

Sell 40 bales of cotton.
Sell 40 cotton bales.
I have seen reports of this trophy being glitchy by resetting your bale count if you save and leave, so it's recommended to do this in one sitting to avoid this potential bug.
First off, you need a field full of cotton ready to harvest along with a cotton harvester, header, truck, and trailer that can load bales.
To buy or lease your own, press to bring up the buying menu and use / to change categories to "Vehicles". Now using /, select "Cotton Technology" and press to see what is available. Use /// to select one you like then press to move to the next screen. Now using /, make whatever changes you want to the available options ( for paint changes) then press to buy or to lease it.
Ideally, you want to pick one with the widest coverage you can find to speed things up.
I would also suggest the trailer mentioned below as it can carry 9 bales in one go and you just have to drive past the bale to pick it up.
Refer to Helper A does not stop … ever for how contracts work.
Now take take cotton harvester to your cotton field, line it up and press to let your AI driver do the hard work. Now go grab your tractor and connect it up to your trailer by driving forward () and reversing () onto the hitch point of the trailer and pressing to connect it. Now press + to activate automatic pickup mode and follow your cotton harvester, all you need to do is get the side of the trailer near the bale to pick it up. The trailer is full at 9 bales, so press + again to enter transport mode and find a place to sell your cotton bales.
A farmers market should do the trick but if you're on the "Four Fields" map like my guide suggests, go to the harbour in the top left corner. There's no easy way to offload this trailer sadly but I have two suggestions. Either reverse hard then accelerate to push them off the back, or turn a sharp turn to make them fall off the side. Either way, you need to press + 2 times to release the bales, now they are loose are ready to fall off. Just push them into the selling point with your tractor as most of them will miss. Press + to reset autoload and return for your next load of bales.
Repeat the above until you have sold 40 bales and your trophy will pop.
Here is a full video guide on attaching trailers to tractors and getting your cotton bales sold as outlined above.
Important Note
You MUST use your own vehicles and tools when farming fields that you own.
You MUST borrow the contract vehicle and tools when farming contracted fields.
Any other use will NOT count towards this trophy.
Vehicle/Cotton Technology: Lizard 7000 Cotton Harvester Unrealistic set to Colossus 7000 Race Edition engine setup (Mod: "Lizard Colossus Harvester Pack" by "ChrisS and RileyS")
Trailer: Lizard 40' Flatbed Autoloading Bale Trailer set to Autoload Bales body configuration (Mod: "40' Lizard Flatbed Autoloading Bale Trailer" by "macktrucker921")

You need to sell 40 bales of cotton in one season; if you don’t manage to sell it in one season, you’ll have to start from scratch. However, you can cheat the game by selling unfinished bales. You fill the combine to 10% and unload the bale. This way it will be much easier for you to collect 40 bales in one season.

You can also deliver cotton to your own production (for example, spinning factories). The bales will also go towards the trophy progress.

if you don’t want to plow in the field growing cotton, then 2 mods will help you:
"IBC and pallets stack" and "Cotton bale autoload".
buy 40 bales of cotton, load them into a trailer with automatic loading and sell them at a sales point

I set the time speed to 0.5 and calmly sold the finished bales.
