In case this achievement confuses anyone:
A save file here means an Universe (or a multiplayer lobby, if you decide to play online).
In a multiplayer lobby, you do need to play for 2 hours without interruptions like disconnects, kicks, etc. If you're playing locally, the achievements pops when you load back into the game in an Universe that has a playtime longer than 2 hours (game's quite glitchy, and that includes achievements).
